Abstract: An incendiary composition (14) for a fin-stabilized kinetic energy projectile (1), which can be arranged in the tail region of the projectile (1) and, upon impact with a target (13), penetrates the target (13) as a separate unit behind the penetrator (2) of the kinetic energy projectile (1). To reach the objective of a high destructive effect caused by the incendiary composition (14) within a target (13), despite a small volume and a low mass, and to ensure that the incendiary composition is ignited securely by the shock waves generated upon impact, according to the invention, a titanium sponge is used as the incendiary composition (14), with an epoxide resin or a polyester resin used as a binder.

The printed circuit board antenna of the present invention includes a circuit board subassembly having a component mounting section and an antenna section. The second planar surface of the circuit board includes a layer of conductive material along the component mounting section to define a ground plane. A radiating and impedance matching trace is applied to the second planar surface of the circuit board along the antenna section. The radiating and impedance matching trace includes a radiating strip extending parallel to the center axis of the circuit board and an impedance matching strip having a plurality of individual legs extending perpendicular to the center axis. The impedance matching strip has defined dimensions to match the impedance of the antenna driving circuit.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transferring the wave front of primary light pulses with a specifiable first pulse duration and/or energy to secondary light pulses with a specifiable second pulse duration and/or energy. For an easy realization of a wave front transformation of this type, it is suggested according to the invention to store respectively in a first time segment the wave fronts of the primary light pulses with the aid of reference light pulses as spatial hologram in a holographic memory. In a following second time interval, this stored, spatial hologram is then read out with the aid of reconstruction light pulses, having the second pulse duration and energy, wherein the reconstruction light pulses for reading out the hologram have the same wavelength and wave front as the reference light pulses.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for processing an electromagnetic wave by receiving rectangular coordinate information for the electromagnetic wave; and directly converting the rectangular coordinate information into a magnitude signal, a sin(?), and a cos(?) signal using a CORDIC algorithm, where ? represents a phase of the electromagnetic wave. The direct converting my be accomplished using shift and add/subtract operations in a processor and a look-up table, or by using at least two cascaded processors employing the CORDIC algorithm.

Abstract: A double pole single throw (DPST) switch circuit including a first circuit portion corresponding to a first input port, a second circuit portion corresponding to a second input port, and an output port, wherein each of the first and second circuit portions include at least one first transistor providing a portion of an isolation channel, at least one second transistor providing a portion of a transmit channel, and at least one third transistor for providing a control bias for selecting either the transmit channel or the isolation channel.
Abstract: A switch circuit including a first differential amplifier pair providing a portion of an isolation channel, a second differential amplifier pair providing a portion of a transmit channel, and a third differential amplifier pair providing a control bias for selecting either the transmit channel or the isolation channel. The switch circuit provides 35 dB isolation between input and output over a 15 GHz-26 GHz range, yet is only 500 ?m by 250 ?m in size.
Abstract: A composite adhesive featuring a matrix phase that includes a cyanate ester and a filler or reinforcement phase that includes a plurality of bodies of at least one material comprising a high shear strength and/or high modulus material. Preferably, the filler also possesses at least one of high thermal conductivity and low coefficient of thermal expansion. Unlike certain commercially available cyanate esters, those of the instant invention substantially maintain or even increase in strength upon addition of the filler to the system. The instant composite adhesives may also display reduced coefficients of moisture expansion relative to the unfilled or “neat” resin. Such a composite adhesive is extremely useful for joining articles where high strength and minimal swelling in moist environments are required, such as in the precision equipment industry.

Abstract: A system for monitoring a plumbing system having a plurality of fixtures includes a sensor vibrationally coupled to the plumbing system and a processor. The sensor detects a vibration produced by the plumbing system, and generates a signal representative of the vibration. The processor receives the signal, compares the signal to a signal database that associates each of a plurality of stored signals with operation of one or more of the fixtures, and determines that the associated fixture or group of fixtures has been operated based on the comparison. The processor also stores a record of the operation of the associated fixture or group of fixtures.

Abstract: Cues, or indicators, are associated with an audio waveform. The cues can be placed or arranged automatically, or manually by a human operator. During playback, the cues are detected by a playback device and can be used by a visualization to correlate images, animation, colors, or other characteristics of the waveform to a visual presentation. Different cues correspond to different basic song characteristics such as percussion or beat. Instrument cues are used for noticeable instrument phrases, notes, or effects. Instrument solo cues are used to indicate the start and end of instrument solos or passages that stand out. Vocal cues include a range of coarse, medium or fine vocal tracking to provide cues for, e.g., mere presence of vocals, to close tracking of words, melody and emotional delivery. A playback engine uses the cues to create a visualization.
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for electromagnetic processing of an input wave involving receiving a modified signal derived from two or more signals that represent the input wave when combined; and regulating the modified signal using at least one analog signal containing a characteristic of the two or more signals. Embodiments of the invention may utilize in-phase and quadrature phase signals, where the magnitude portion of the signals may be used for regulating the modified signal. The modified signal may be created by modulating a characteristic of the I, Q signals, such as their sign, with an RF or other frequency carrier wave.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for measuring sag properties of a drilling fluid using a rotary viscometer. An insert, or shoe, is placed at the bottom of the heat cup containing the fluid to be tested. A rotating cylinder is disposed within the fluid and solid particles are allowed to settle toward the bottom of the heat cup. The shoe incorporates a curved and inclined upper surface that directs the settled particles toward a well non-centrally located in the shoe. As the test is performed, fluid samples can be withdrawn from the well and analyzed. The samples can then be returned to the well and the test continued. The insert concentrates the settled solids into a single location, which increases the sensitivity of the test and provides a location for sample acquisition that is easily and repeatedly located, which allows for improved correlation with laboratory and flow loop results.
