Publication number: 20040268063Abstract: A method for managing page-based data storage media such as flash media, a system that uses that method, and a computer-readable storage medium bearing code for implementing the method. New data are written to the storage medium in a manner that precludes corruption of old data if the writing of the new data is interrupted. Specifically, risk zones are defined, by identifying, for each page, the other pages whose data are put at risk of corruption if writing to the page is interrupted. A page, that otherwise would be the target of a write operation, is not written if any of the pages in its risk zone contain data that could be corrupted if the write operation is interrupted.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2003Publication date: December 30, 2004Applicant: M-SYSTEMS FLASH DISK PIONEERS, LTD.Inventor: Menahem Lasser

Patent number: 6835378Abstract: A method of achieving safe and effective treatment or prevention of potentially harmful blood clots, or in inhibiting the coagulation of blood when so desired such as during a wide array of disease conditions including stroke, myocardial infarction, sickle-cell crisis and venous thrombosis, is provided by the administration of a fibrinogen-binding protein capable of binding at the N-terminal B&bgr; chain of fibrinogen, such as SdrG or Fbe, or their respective binding regions such as the A domain. In addition, compositions comprising effective amounts of the fibrinogen-binding proteins are also provided. The present anti-coagulation compositions have been shown to inhibit thrombin-induced fibrin clot formation by interfering with the release of fibrinopeptide B and the resulting anti-coagulation effects can be achieved without potential for causing or exacerbating unwanted side effects such as thrombocytopenia associated with prior art anticoagulants such as heparin.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2002Date of Patent: December 28, 2004Assignee: The Texas A&M University System UniversityInventors: Stacey Davis, Magnus A. Patent number: 6835553Abstract: An implantable biosensor for detecting an analyte in vivo in body fluids comprises an analyte-sensitive hydrogel filament chemically configured to vary its displacement volume according to changes in concentration of an analyte, such as glucose, in a patient's body fluid. A photometric displacement transducer placed inside the biosensor is configured to quantifiably detect changes in the displacement volume of the hydrogel filament, such as by detecting the light intensity on a photoreceptor arranged to receive light of varying intensity depending upon the displacement of the hydrogel filament. A battery powered telemeter operably engaged to the photometric displacement transducer sends a radio data signal representing glucose concentration level to a receiver containing an alarm system. The alarm system can automatically notify a person that the analyte level is outside desired predetermined parameters, and/or to automatically inject an agent to counteract the adverse analyte levels.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2002Date of Patent: December 28, 2004Assignee: M-Biotech, Inc.Inventors: In Suk Han, Seok Lew, Man Hee Han

Publication number: 20040258028Abstract: A method and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Access Point Controller (APC) for translating signalling and traffic Point-to-Point Protocol PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) data frames into PPP over Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) data frames, and vice-versa. When a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is implemented into a CDMA2000 network, a WLAN client sends PPPoE data frames to a WLAN Access Point Controller (APC) that connects to a CDMA2000 Packet Data Service Node (PDSN). The WLAN APC receives the downlink PPPoE data frames and converts them in PPP over GRE data format understood by the CDMA2000 PDSN, and relays the translated frames to the PDSN. In the uplink, the WLAN APC receives PPP over GRE data frames from the PDSN, frames that are intended for the WLAN client, and translates them into PPPoE data frames, which are relayed to the WLAN client.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2003Publication date: December 23, 2004Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Mahmood Hossain, Samy Touati

Patent number: 6834044Abstract: A system and method in a packet-switched radio access network of sending data packets over a radio interface from a Mobile Station (MS) to a Radio Network Controller (RNC) using multiple data transmission paths. When the MS launches a new application through a first base station (BS1), a Multi-path Context Activator (MCA) in the RNC determines whether the bandwidth required by the new application exceeds the bandwidth capacity of the radio interface portion of the first data transmission path. If so, the RNC identifies a second BS (BS2) that has the capacity to provide a portion of the radio interface bandwidth required. The MS then transmits separate data streams to BS1 and BS2 as over the radio interface. The MCA combines the separate upstream data portions. For downstream packets, the MCA separates the packets into two streams which are sent to an MCA in the MS via BS1 and BS2.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2001Date of Patent: December 21, 2004Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: David Sugirtharaj, Paul Lee, Suhail Hasan
