  • Patent number: 6590362
Abstract: A method and system for early detection of incipient faults in an electric motor are disclosed. First, current and voltage values for one or more phases of the electric motor are measured during motor operations. A set of current predictions is then determined via a neural network-based current predictor based on the measured voltage values and an estimate of motor speed values of the electric motor. Next, a set of residuals is generated by combining the set of current predictions with the measured current values. A set of fault indicators is subsequently computed from the set of residuals and the measured current values. Finally, a determination is made as to whether or not there is an incipient electrical, mechanical, and/or electromechanical fault occurring based on the comparison result of the set of fault indicators and a set of predetermined baseline values.

  • Patent number: 6587686
Abstract: The present invention is directed to method and apparatus for detecting base station (BS) transceivers malfunctions in a cellular telecommunications system. A Transceiver Malfunction Detector (TMD) receives and stores information related to the service performance of the BS transceivers and sorts the information on a per transceiver basis, for generating a service quality value for each transceiver. The TMD computes a service quality threshold value proportional to the average performance of the BS transceivers, and compares the service quality value of each monitored transceiver with the threshold, for determining the acceptability of the transceiver performance. The TMD also detects the cause of a malfunction in a transceiver, by assigning the frequencies used by an adequate transceiver to a transceiver suspected to be malfunctioning and by further monitoring the activity of the initially malfunctioning transceiver.

  • Patent number: 6587072
Abstract: A radar based sensor detection system comprises a microwave source operative to provide a continuous wave signal at an output. A pulse-former is coupled to the output of the source and is operative to provide at an output a variable length pulse that increases the transmitted energy of the radar system according to the range of object detection. A modulator is coupled to the output of the pulse-former for providing a modulated pulse signal. A transmit receive switch coupled to the output of the modulator is selectively operative between a first transmit position and a second receive position. A transmit channel coupled to the transmit receive switch transmits the pulse signal when the switch is operated in the transmit position. A receiving channel coupled to the transmit receive switch receives the modulator signal when the switch is operated in the receive position.

  • Publication number: 20030112021
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for detecting the capacitance or capacitance change of a capacitive circuit element or component, in which there is a capacitive noise voltage compensation element, which corresponds to the sensor capacitor, represented as a noise voltage compensation capacitor, and a noise voltage compensation electrode of the noise voltage compensation capacitor, which corresponds to the first electrode of the sensor capacitor, is connected to the second electrode of a storage capacitor. The noise voltage compensation capacitor can be influenced in the same way as the sensor capacitor by the LF noise voltage. • Publication number: 20030115571
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tool and a method for constructing a software application from a model representation. The method first involves reading the model representation before identifying in the model representation a plurality of software modules. The method then identifies a programming language for each one of the plurality of software modules. After identification of the different programming languages, the method compiles each one of the plurality of software modules into machine language using a software compiler. It is to be noted that the software compiler corresponds to the identified programming language. The methods finally links the compiled plurality of software modules into the software application. The tool comprises an interpreting module for identifying a plurality of programming languages in a source code listing and a calling module for compiling the source code listing into machine language.

  • Patent number: 6580910
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for making inter-cell handoffs to a cell of a base station including a directional antenna array. The handoff algorithm includes taking into account uplink direction of arrival measurements in at least one candidate target base station, made on signals from the mobile radio terminal to it's serving base station, and directly after handoff using a directional narrow lobe from the antenna array. The narrow lobe can be used immediately after the handoff in the radio base stations that have antenna arrays, by including the direction (of arrival information) to the mobile radio terminal in the handoff order to the target base station. Also disclosed are a method and system for measuring uplink interference on idle narrow lobe traffic channels, and using this information when selecting at handoff a target base station and traffic channel.
