Abstract: An Access Terminal (AT) profile for identifying data services subscribed to by a data-only (DO) AT or hybrid AT in data mode is stored within a data cellular network, such as a 1xEV DO cellular network. In one embodiment, the subscriber AT profile is stored in a home Access, Authentication and Accounting (AAA) server associated with a home Access Network (AN) of the AT. The subscriber AT profile stored in the home AAA server can be downloaded to the home AN at successful authentication. The current session record in the AN is expanded to include the subscriber profile. In another embodiment, when roaming in a visitor AN, the subscriber AT profile can be downloaded from the home AAA server to the visitor AAA server, prior to downloading the subscriber AT profile to the visiting AN.

  • Publication number: 20030142650
Abstract: A system, method and node for supporting multiple IP sessions with dynamically allocated home IP addresses in a CDMA2000 network. When the Home Agent (HA) receives a registration request from a Mobile Node (MN), it verifies if there are any mobility bindings for the MN. If yes, the HA verifies if the MN's care-of address equals one it already stores. If not, the HA verifies if the home IP address in the request is zero, and if no refreshes the mobility binding. However, if the IP address is zero, the HA verifies if the MN has reached its session number limit, and if so, the HA keeps only the first session and removes the others, but if no, the HA creates a new mobile IP session. The proper home IP address is the returned to the MN.

  • Publication number: 20030136317
Abstract: Material to be treated such as garbage is charged into a first rotary kiln 14 to be mainly dehydrated and charged into a second rotary kiln 18 to be carbonized. The first rotary kiln 14 has a first nozzle pipe 11 therein for spouting a first high temperature gas and the second rotary kiln 18 has a second nozzle pipe 15 for spouting a second high temperature gas, mainly high temperature superheated steam with a temperature higher than a temperature of the first high temperature gas. The carbonized material is discharged outside after a temperature thereof is lowered to prevent spontaneous combustion in an atmosphere. Thereby, it is able to provide an apparatus for thermal treatment using superheated steam which can be built relatively small and by which treatment time can be shortened, and further, the final carbonized material can be used as charcoal.

  • Patent number: 6596912
Abstract: This invention relates to processes and systems for the conversion of methane in high yields to C4+ hydrocarbons. The principal steps of the recycle process include reacting methane and O2 in an oxidative coupling reactor over a Mn/Na2WO4/SiO2 catalyst at 800° C. to convert the methane to ethylene, and oligomerizing the ethylene product by reacting it with an H-ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst at 275° C. in a catalytic reactor for subsequent conversion of the ethylene to higher hydrocarbons. Total yields of C4+ products using the process of the invention are in the range of about 60% to about 80%, and yields of C4+ nonaromatic hydrocarbons are in the range of about 50% to about 60%.

  • Patent number: 6597787
Abstract: An echo cancellation device (ECD) comprises an echo canceller (EC) including a transfer function estimator (EST, H) and a subtractor (ADD) and a residual echo suppression device (G, ADD2). The residual echo suppression device (G) comprises a residual echo filter (G) having an adjustable filter function (g). This filter function (g) can be adapted to either remove from the subtractor output (TNE′) the spectral characteristics relating to the reception signal (RFE) and/or to emphasize in the subtractor output signal (TNE′) a background signal spectral content relating to the transmission signal (TNE). A noise generation means (NGM′) can be provided at the output of the adaptable filter (G) for injecting a noise process in to the filter output signal (TNE′) prior to a speech coding in a speech coder (COD). The noise process masks in the filter output signal a spectral content relating to the reception signal (RFE).

  • Publication number: 20030135891
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for transforming plants with genetic material. The new method described herein represents a significant improvement in transformation technology. Direct inoculation of an intact pre-formed plant, advantageously without excising the shoot, allows for plant regeneration and makes the procedure genotype-independent while greatly accelerating plant generation by reducing time in tissue culture. Further, the potential for somaclonal variation caused by tissue de-differentiation in culture is greatly reduced. In one embodiment, the invention provides a genotype-independent, direct shoot-based transformation method using Agrobacterium to facilitate recovery of transformed, transgenic plants and to allow transformation of elite germplasm. This technique can be used, for example, with P. taeda L. as described herein. In one embodiment, the transformed shoots can be subjected to antibiotic selection during seedling development.

  • Publication number: 20030135626
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for improved session management when roaming between access networks (AN) within a data cellular network. In one embodiment, gateway functionality is added to one AN in each subnet. The Gateway AN (GAN) provides session transfer capabilities during a dormant handoff with a source AN located in a different subnet. The GAN is responsible for receiving session information request messages from target AN's within the local subnet, querying other GANs within other subnets to locate the subnet that contains the source AN for the session and routing the session information back to the target ANs. In another embodiment, an extended session is established across several ANs within a subnet. When an Access Terminal (AT) initiates a new extended session, the responsible AN negotiates a common session across the ANs covered by the extended session area. During the session negotiation, each AN establishes a new session and allocates a new Unicast Access Terminal Identifier (UATI).

  • Patent number: 6594492
Abstract: In the context of a completed inter-exchange handoff of a mobile station communication, an anchor exchange may request certain call related information from a currently serving exchange. This request is made through use of an inter-exchange information request message issued from the anchor exchange and sent (perhaps through one or more tandem exchanges) to the serving exchange. Responsive thereto, the serving exchange processes the request, obtains the requested call related information, and returns the requested information in an inter-exchange information request return result message. The information request message may comprise a newly defined ANSI-41 message, a vendor proprietary extension to the ANSI-41 message set, or an enhancement to an existing ANSI-41 message.
