  • Patent number: 6625141
Abstract: A system and method for providing Value-Added Services (VAS) in an integrated telecommunications network having a packet-switched network portion (PSN) operable with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The integrated telecommunications network includes a SIPext SSP server, a trigger server, and a service node having a Service Logic Program (SLP) that is operable with Intelligent Network Application Protocol (INAP). The SIPext SSP and service nodes are provided with the capability to communicate using SIP-compliant messaging. New header fields are provided that specify operations to be performed by the service node with respect to a service. INAP service parametric data is also provided in the header fields in a sequential form. When a call is received in the SIPext SSP server for a user having a subscription for a VAS, it queries the user profile stored in the trigger server.

  • Publication number: 20030172694
Abstract: A self-powered electric lock includes a lock bolt and a first engagement element having disengaged and engageable positions. An electric actuator includes an output operative to move the first engagement element to its engageable position. A manually operated rotatable member is operatively coupled to the first engagement element when the first engagement element is in its engageable position. A lock bolt drive mechanism is coupled to the lock bolt and to the first engagement element when the first engagement element is in its engageable position. The movable output moves the first engagement element to its engageable position upon input of correct electronic data. An electricity generator is coupled to the manually operated rotatable member. The electricity powers the electric actuator and an electronic data input device. The manually operated rotatable member is also used to actuate the lock bolt drive mechanism and retract the lock bolt.

  • Patent number: 6621385
Abstract: A circuit configuration for introducing bias in balanced lines capable of high frequency operation includes top and bottom layers formed on a semiconductor substrate. The circuit includes two balanced metallized lines positioned on the substrate. Each metallized line has a serpentine line configuration connected thereto. The space between the lines is a virtual ground. The serpentine line configurations are congruent with the elements on the substrate layers to provide a completed circuit. The elements are coupled to a central metallic area, which in turn is coupled to a bias line through an open-line stub, which extends beyond the virtual ground and which provides equal capacitive coupling to the balanced lines on the top surface. In this manner, the balanced line configuration includes capacitors and inductors which are symmetrically distributed and which provide resonance at the designed operating frequency.

  • Patent number: 6621014
Abstract: A system for sensing loads and varying the dynamics of mechanical devices to accommodate various load weights is disclosed. The system comprises a load receiving device, a load translocator, a load sensing device, and a control unit for processing information sent to it by the load sensing device. The control unit receives and calculates information corresponding to a load weight and varies the speed of a motor and/or hydraulic drive coupled to the mechanical devices translocating the load. This allows for more efficient and consistent load transfers. The system, as described herein, may be applied to several mechanical devices or systems. Specifically as described herein, the system is applied to a conveyor and sorting apparatus which comprises a hopper having a first and a second end, and further comprising a conveyor for transporting the produce from the first end to the second end, a roller bed, coupled to the second end of the hopper.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for coupling a vehicle body panel partition for pivotal movement between an upright and a retracted position. A mounting includes hinge sets formed from two hinge leafs, a hinge leaf being used to retain one of the ends of the torsion rod pin extending through aligned pivot portions on each hinge set. Preferably, each hinge set is integrally formed with the torsion pin by retainers holding ends of the torsion pin with respect to one leaf of each of the hinge sets. In the preferred embodiment, a return bent end of a common torsion pin is received in a first leaf of one of at least two hinge sets, while the other end of the rod is bent and retained in a second leaf of a second hinge set.

  • Patent number: 6614784
Abstract: A system and method of service provisioning in an integrated telecommunications network having a packet-switched network portion (PSN) and a circuit-switched network (CSN) portion with a gateway disposed therebetween. A service node comprising a Service Control Point (SCP), a Service Data Point (SDP), or both, is provided with an interface operable with the PSN portion. A first entity (e.g., served entity) is capable of accessing the service node for the purpose of invoking a service. A return result from the service node is provided, based on the decision of what action is to be taken with respect to the service request, to the first entity which then determines how the action is to be effectuated. An indication is thereafter provided by the first entity to a second entity (e.g., re-routing entity) preferably using H.450.X messages. In response, the second entity (i.e., re-routing or switching entity) takes an appropriate service action based on the return result obtained from the service node.

  • Patent number: 6615042
Abstract: A method in a Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) of handling subscriber services when a serving Mobile Switching Center (MSC) does not support all WIN triggers. The WIN includes a Home Location Register (HLR) having a subscriber profile that indicates the WIN triggers required to support a particular subscriber's active services. When an invoke message is sent from the MSC to the HLR, a WIN Capabilities (WINCAP) parameter is included and indicates the WIN triggers supported by the MSC. The HLR identifies a Service Control Point (SCP) for each subscriber service that requires a WIN trigger and is not supported by the MSC. The HLR then queries each identified SCP for call-treatment instructions. If an SCP determines that its service is essential, a response is returned to the HLR with an instruction to deny service to the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 6613667
Abstract: Forming an interconnect of a semiconductor device includes defining a recessed structure proximate to an outer surface of a substrate of a semiconductor device. A metal layer is deposited within the recessed structure. A region of the metal layer is exposed to a plasma operable to react with the region of the metal layer. A metal compound layer is formed from the region of the metal layer by reacting the region of the metal layer with the plasma. The metal compound layer is removed from the semiconductor structure to yield a remaining metal layer. An interconnect of the semiconductor device is formed from the remaining metal layer.

  • Patent number: 6615043
Abstract: A scanning operation in a mobile terminal includes storing identifiers of sub-carrier frequencies known to be in use without regard to operator identity or location of use. A first scanning of only sub-carrier frequencies identified by the stored identifiers is performed in an attempt to find a used sub-carrier frequency. If no used sub-carrier frequencies are found in the first scanning, then a second scanning of sub-carrier frequencies that are not associated with stored identifiers is performed.
