Abstract: Machine that allows supplying bases and lids for cans containing preserves, industrial products or aerosols automatically and without using pneumatic means, allowing to adjust the machine to the different diameters of the bases and lids without having to disassemble them, for which it is provided with three shafts or spindles (1) arranged concentrically with a 120° separation to each other and further comprising regulation means based on a slide or guide (3); additionally, on each shaft or spindle (1) is a pulley (2) joined to a servomotor (7) by a transmission belt (6) so that each revolution of the motor supplies a base or lid to the carrier disc (9).

Abstract: An in situ method and system for reductive dechlorination, the precipitation of chromium, the precipitation of heavy metals, and microbial denitrification. The invention comprises the formation of in situ anaerobic reactive zones to precipitate and filter out dissolved heavy metals as metallic sulfides, to degrade nitrate to nitrogen gas, to reduce chlorinated hydrocarbons to ethene, and to precipitate and filter out chromium. The invention is comprised of an injection well or wells that extend into a contaminated groundwater. A conduit located within the injection well conveys a reagent to the contaminated groundwater.
The reagent may be a carbohydrate rich solution. Microbes digest the carbohydrates to produce sulfate reducing and methanogenic conditions within the reactive zone that include a dissolved oxygen level less than about 0.5 mg/l, a redox potential less than about −250 mv, and a dissolved organic carbon to contaminant ratio of greater than about 50:1.
Abstract: Calcium phosphate colorants are provided that comprise calcium phosphate particles, a dye, and aluminum hydroxide and which are resistant to dye migration and suitable for use in food, drugs and cosmetics. The calcium phosphate particles are coated with a dye and the dye is fixed to the particles by the aluminum hydroxide. Also provided is a method for making a calcium phosphate colorant in which aluminum hydroxide is mixed with a calcium phosphate slurry to deposit aluminum hydroxide onto the calcium phosphate particles contained within the slurry.
Abstract: Apparatus for preparing parbaked food products, such as pizza crust shells, and dough formulation used therein, and the product produced thereby and/or therefrom. The apparatus operates on a starting material dough including flour, sugar and water, and preferably also a leavening agent such as instant yeast. The dough is rounded, first proofed, panned, pressed and second proofed in the apparatus. The prepared dough piece is then steam hydrated in the apparatus under conditions sufficient to cause moisture absorption and a resultant increase in moisture content throughout the dough. Then the hydrated dough piece is immediately sequentially parbaked until gelatinization of the starch is complete.

Abstract: Routing nodes that are interconnected within a communications network are not configured to utilize a single type of switching technology in the context of a single type of networking topology. Responsive to data input and the operation of an expert system, the routing nodes are configured to implement a certain switching technology type and networking technology type, and thus optimize portions of the communications network to handle different types of traffic. Traffic of the various different types may then be efficiently handled through the network by its correspondingly optimized portion.
Abstract: A method of beneficiating coal in a dry process includes separating raw coal from a coal mine into coal fines and larger pieces of coal using pressurized air, separating the larger pieces of coal according to size, removing ash from the larger pieces of coal on an air table, and further removing ash from the larger pieces of coal using a size-discriminating device to obtain a beneficiated coal product. The invention also includes an apparatus for the dry beneficiation of coal. The apparatus includes at least one air separating device, at least one air table, and at least one first and second shakers which separate the coal by size and remove ash from the coal. The air table effectively removes ash from infed coal without the need for a fluidizing media.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Prunus persica is provided. The new peach tree variety produces an attractively colored, yellow fleshed, clingstone peach that matures early in the season (7-10 days after Flordaking) under the ecological conditions prevailing in the medium chill zone of south central Texas and is adapted in the medium chill region. The variety requires approximately 450 chilling units of dormancy.
Abstract: A cable television diplexer and telephony module that can be employed in CATV data transmission systems to enhance performance levels and reduce manufacturing costs. The cable television diplexer and telephony module includes a printed circuit board substrate, and a diplexer having a low pass filter section and a high pass filter section, each of which has components mounted on the substrate. The respective low pass and high pass filter sections of the diplexer include one or more high Q value planar spiral inductors. Each spiral inductor includes a narrow track of metal disposed on the substrate and wound around a center to form a circular spiral curve having a plurality of turns. The spiral inductor may be fabricated on the substrate of the cable television diplexer and telephony module, or on a separate substrate, using a standard PCB fabrication process.

Abstract: A dental/medical instrument is provided for use in diagnostic and related patient inspection/examination. The device includes a body having an integral speculum with a video image capture device or camera, a power supply and a video display. These components, in addition to user actuatable controls, are disposed integrally with the body. The body is adapted for convenient engagement and manipulation by a user's hand to provide a unitary, hand-held device capable of illuminating and capturing an image of a patient, and displaying the image. The video display is disposed on a display portion of the speculum, while components of the image capture device, such as a lens and light emitter, are disposed on a nose portion of the speculum. The nose portion is modularly replaceable with alternate nose portions sized and shaped to facilitate various discrete medical/dental examination procedures.
