  • Patent number: 5328061
Abstract: A slide dispensing cap and dispensing stopper for a dispensing bottle which includes a one-way valve between the interior of the bottle and the cap so that air cannot enter into the bottle when product is dispensed through a tube because the valve closes to prevent product from passing through the one-way valve. A tube communicates with the stopper and in a dispensing position of the slide nozzle so that product can pass out through the nozzle. After dispensing the bottle is released and air can enter the bottle through the one-way valve.

  • Patent number: 5328570
Abstract: A hydraulic support device in a paper making machine for supporting a first beam (52) on a second beam (53), having a pressure cushion (54) between the two beams. The pressure prevailing in the pressure cushion is variable but it is uniform over the entire length of the pressure cushion. The pressure cushion (54) rests on a contact surface of the first beam (52). The width (b) of the contact surface as seen in cross section is less than the total width (B) of the pressure cushion (54). A free space (55) into which a loop of the pressure cushion (54) can penetrate is provided on each side of the contact surface.

  • Patent number: 5328511
Abstract: A device for applying coating composition to a fiber web has at least one application roll for receiving a film of coating color at a feed location and for then delivering it to the fiber web at a delivery location. A nozzle applicator feeds coating color to a nozzle at the feed position of application roll. The nozzle has a downstream lip with a metering doctor on it for metering the thickness of the coating color applied to the roll. The nozzle has an upstream lip in the form of an overflow ledge spaced from the surface of the application roll. Coating liquid overflows the overflow ledge and is collected in a first overflow trough. To clean the outer surface of the application roll before coating color is thereto applied, a scraper blade scrapes the surface of the roll. Upstream in the rotation path from the scraper blade is a sprayer for spraying liquid on the application roll so that the scraper scrapes the surface of the application roll with liquid on it.

  • Patent number: 5329558
Abstract: A method of synchronizing a baseband demodulator in a radio receiver, which may be stationary or mobile. The demodulator is a phase-shift demodulator and detects a baseband signal incoming from a sampling A/D-converter in the receiver. The baseband signal is transmitted from a radio transmitter in the form of bursts, in time slots in accordance with the TDMA-principle. One time slot, in addition to the data word, also includes in a known manner a synchronization part which has a given, fixed bit pattern. Prior to demodulation in the baseband demodulator, differential correlation of the received baseband signal is effected with the known synchronization pattern, wherein a time-dependent correlation function is obtained. The absolute magnitude of the maximum value is calculated and the corresponding time position for this maximum value is detected, which denotes the time position of the synchronization part of the received baseband signal.

  • Patent number: 5327576
Abstract: In a cellular mobile telephone system of the type having TDMA channels, a plurality of mobile station operate at either a full rate or a half rate. If the mobile stations are operating on the periphery of a cell they are assigned to full rate channels. If the mobile stations are operating in the vicinity of the base station, they are assigned to half rate channels. The mobile station are reassigned from full rate to half rate channels depending upon a measured parameters relating to signal strength or quality, such as the bit error rate of communications between the mobile station and the base station. If the measured bit error rate between the mobile station and a neighboring station is less than the bit error rate between the mobile station and its presently assigned base station, the mobile station is handed off to the neighboring base station.

  • Patent number: 5326191
Abstract: A reinforced metal box culvert is provided which has the standard crown, opposing sides and opposite curved haunches. The culvert is characterized in having continuous corrugated metal sheet reinforcement secured to at least the crown of the culvert and extends the length of the culvert which is effective in supporting the load. The corrugated reinforcement has a profile which abuts the crown corrugations with the troughs of the reinforcement being secured to the crests of the corrugated crown. The corrugated reinforcement sheet has a curvature complementary to the corrugated crown to facilitate securement. The continuous reinforcement, as secured to the culvert in an uninterrupted manner, provides an optimum load carrying capacity for selected extent of reinforcement provided by the reinforcement metal sheets.

  • Patent number: 5327577
Abstract: The invention relates to a method in mobile radio systems in which the responsibility for transmitting message information to a mobile station (MS.sub.1, MS.sub.2) is handed over from at least a first base station transmitter (B.sub.ma, B.sub.mb) to at least a second base station transmitter (B.sub.na, B.sub.nb). In accordance with the invention, the same radio channel is used, if possible, before and after the handover for transmitting message information to the mobile station. If the same radio channel can be utilized, the handover takes place without the mobile station being informed beforehand of the handover by a special signal or order or the like. In digital mobile radio systems with digital transmission of message information by digital modulation of the radio signals, the transmission is preferably started from a second base station transmitter before the transmission is terminated from a first base station transmitter.

  • Patent number: 5325673
Abstract: A method for pretreating a natural gas stream using a single scrub column to remove freezable C.sub.5+ components and provide an LNG product which can be conveniently handled and shipped is disclosed. The method comprises feeding a natural gas stream to a feed point on a scrub column operated substantially as an absorption column wherein the heavy components are absorbed from the feed gas using a liquid reflux essentially free of such C.sub.5+ components. The feed can be vapor introduced at a low point on the column, or can be optionally split, cooled and/or expanded and introduced at one or more feed points on the column. The reflux stream can be overhead vapor condensate having a temperature of about - 40.degree. C., or methane-rich LNG or a combination of LNG and vapor condensate.

  • Patent number: 5325319
Abstract: Filtering a signal with an adaptive digital filter includes updating the filter by performing an approximate division of a constant number by a variable number in binary form. The variable number represents a magnitude of energy of the signal to be filtered, and consists of a character bit and a plurality of bits which define the absolute value of the number. The variable number is first transformed by substituting with logic zeros any logic ones that have a lower significance than the most significant logic one of the bits. The first transformed number is then further transformed by reading the character bit of the variable number as a character bit and by reading the bits in the digital word in a reversed order. The resulting value is applied to adjust the adaptive digital filter which filters the signal.
