  • Patent number: 5677409
Abstract: Described herein are propylene waxes and a production process thereof. The waxes are each produced by polymerizing propylene in a reaction vessel while using a solid catalyst in the presence or absence of an organoaluminum compound. A hydrogen partial pressure of a gas phase in the reaction vessel, said gas phase being formed of the propylene and hydrogen, is maintained at 10% or higher. The solid catalyst is formed of a transition metal compound or a reaction product between the transition metal compound and an organometallic compound, an aluminoxane and a fine particulate carrier. Also described herein is a heating-roll fixing type toner composition composed essentially of a binder resin or a binder resin composition, a colorant and, as a releasing agent, the wax.

  • Patent number: 5674954
Abstract: In a novel method of homo- or copolymerization of vinyl chloride, a specified coating agent is applied on the surfaces of the portions which will become into contact with the vinyl chloride monomer during the polymerization process. The coating agent is in a form of an aqueous solution of a modified condensation product of phenol and aldehyde, the pH of the solution being adjusted in a range that the product is dissolved at an ambient temperature upon coating of the solution and separates out of the solution upon being heated on the surfaces. The wall surface of the polymerization tank and the like is then coated with a thin film of the coating agent having a uniform thickness and being strongly adhered to the wall surface, thereby providing an excellent effect of preventing adhesion of the product polymer to the wall surface.

Abstract: Biaxially oriented films from high molecular weight polyethylene are characterized by a gas permeable structure formed from random-arranged microfibrils. The films have coefficients of static friction and kinetic friction of not more than 1.0. The biaxially oriented films are further characterized by service smoothness as well as tensile (tangent) modulus and tensile strength. The films may be used for lamination, filter, or for packaging for moisture absorbers. The biaxially oriented films may be obtained by extracting a hydrocarbon plasticizer from a sheet formed from the high molecular weight polyethylene and a hydrocarbon plasticizer, stretching the resulting sheet to obtain an oriented film having a specific surface area of at least 70 m.sup.2 /g and a fibril structure, and heating the oriented film under a standard length constraint to reduce the oriented film in specific area by at least 20 m.sup.2 /g.
