    Abstract: A filter for the filtration of molten aluminum is obtained by binding 100 parts by weight of aggregate particles with 10 to 20 parts by weight of an inorganic binding material, said aggregate particles being composed of at least one alumina selected from the group consisting of fused alumina and sintered alumina and said inorganic binding material having a raw material composition comprising 25 wt. % to 35 wt. % of SiO.sub.2, 30 to 40 wt. % of B.sub.2 O.sub.3, 20 to 35 wt. % of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and the balance being MgO. A filter according to the invention has a crystallinity of from 10% to 25% with the proviso that in the powder X-ray diffraction, the crystallinity is expressed in terms of a percentage of a peak height of 9Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 .multidot.2B.sub.2 O.sub.3 appearing at 2.theta.=16.5.degree. to a peak height of .alpha.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 appearing at 2.theta.=43.4.degree..     Abstract: A photocatalyst comprises, on the surface, a zinc oxide film which comprises zinc oxide fine particles formed by anodic oxidation of zinc and having a particle size of not more than 0.2 .mu.m and a method for preparing a photocatalyst comprises the step of anodically oxidizing the surface of a zinc metal substance or a substance mainly comprising zinc metal to form, on the surface, a zinc oxide film which comprises zinc oxide fine particles having a particle size of not more than 0.2 .mu.m. The photocatalyst permits quite efficient decomposition or destruction of gases or bacterial cells to be treated, can easily be adhered to faces to which the photocatalytic function is to be imparted to thus impart sterilization and/or deodorization functions thereto and can easily be fitted to various apparatuses to which a film has conventionally been applied with great difficulty.

The aliphatic alcohols, alicyclic alcohols, aldehydes, carboxylic acids and ketones have ten to thirty carbon atoms in the molecule.

    Abstract: We have found a novel subtype DRw14c and sequenced the nucleotide sequence thereof. DRw14 associated genes can be genetically typed at the DNA level using DRB1-14c sequence specific oligonucleotide probes such as F142 and F144 of the invention. The present invention overcomes the disadvantages of serological typing and provides a reagent that determines a type of a HLA-DR antigen. More specifically, the invention provides an oligonucleotide probe capable of identifying subtypes of a HLA-DR antigen precisely and a reagent containing the oligonucleotide probe. Furthermore, the invention provides a method of detecting a novel HLA-DR antigen.

    Abstract: A method of removing adsorbates on a polyester bottle, the body of the bottle having a mean crystallinity of 32 to 70%, a methanol adsorption of 1,500 ppm or less and a paraxylene adsorption of 300 ppm or less. As a result, the bottle has excellent non-adsorptivity and heat resistance. According to the method, the adsorbates can be rapidly desorbed by holding the bottle in air of 40.degree. to 150.degree. C. or bringing the bottle into contact with water or water vapor heated at 40.degree. to 150.degree. C.

    Abstract: A process for producing an automotive molded roof material is provided which comprises sheeting a foamable sheet forming composition comprising a specified propylene resin, a glass fiber, a radical initiator, a crosslinking auxiliary and a foaming agent in specific proportions into a foamable sheet, lining one side of the foamable sheet with a backing sheet so as to integrate these and irradiating the foamable sheet with ionizing radiation to thereby crosslink the propylene resin, followed by heating the foamable sheet so as to cause the foamable sheet to foam, placing a cover sheet on the other side of the foamed sheet before the sheet cools to solidify and press molding the cover sheet on the foamed sheet to cover. There is also provided an automotive molded roof material produced by the above process. An automotive molded roof material is obtained which can be recycled, is lightweight and has high rigidity.
