The diffractive element diffracts the radiation to generate a first beam and a second beam. The first beam includes a first non-zero diffraction order and the second beam includes a second non-zero diffraction order that is different from the first non-zero diffraction order. The optical system receives a first scattered beam and a second scattered radiation beam from a target structure and directs the first scattered beam and the second scattered beam towards a detector. The detector generates a detection signal. The processor analyzes the detection signal to determine a target structure property based on at least the detection signal. The first beam is attenuated with respect to the second beam or the first scattered beam is purposely attenuated with respect to the second scattered beam.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for authenticating requests to access one or more accounts over a network using authenticity evaluations of two or more automated decision engines are discussed. A login request for access to a user account may be submitted to multiple decision engines that each apply different rulesets for authenticating the login request, and output an evaluation of the authenticity of the login request. Based on evaluations from multiple automated decision engines, the login request may be allowed to proceed to validation of user identity and, if user identity is validated, access to the user account may be authorized. Based on the evaluations, the login attempt may also be rejected. One or more additional challenge question may be returned to the computing device used to request account access, and the login request allowed to proceed to validation of identity if the response to the challenge question is deemed acceptable.

Abstract: A method for balancing charge over a plurality of cells connected in series in a battery, the method comprising: during the charging/discharging of the battery: determining when a characteristic parameter of a cell of the plurality of cells reaches a characteristic value associated with a first state of charge, counting the number of Coulombs exchanged with the cell by means of a respective Coulomb counter of a plurality of Coulomb counters connected to the plurality of cells, and repeating said acts until a predetermined charging or discharging criteria is fulfilled; determining a charge imbalance based on the counted number of Coulombs for each of the plurality of cells; and transferring charge to or away from at least one cell of the plurality of cells based on the determined charge imbalance to reduce the charge imbalance. Abstract: Methods and systems for estimating call durations while handling incoming telephone calls in order to improve call queue management and efficiency with respect to telephone support systems are provided. The method includes: receiving a first incoming telephone call from a first person; retrieving historical information that relates to the first person; forecasting, based on the historical information, a next customer state that relates to the first person; and estimating, based on the forecasted next customer state, a potential duration of the first incoming call. The estimated call duration is then usable for assigning a priority to the first incoming call and determining an order of handling the first incoming call with respect to each of a plurality of other incoming calls based on the assigned priority.

Abstract: A method and system for generating a token for securing sensitive data are provided. The method includes receiving first information that relates to a first format of a first type of data and second information that relates to a second format of a second type of data; defining a first algorithm for generating a first token that has the first format and a second algorithm for generating a second token that has the second format; using the first algorithm to generate a set of unique first tokens; using the second algorithm to generate a set of unique second tokens; and when a request for protecting sensitive data that has either the first format or the second format is received, retrieving a first token or a second token and associating the retrieved token with the sensitive data. The method is optimized for issuing tokens of any format.

Abstract: A calving monitoring system for monitoring an animal at the end of the expected gestation period includes a camera device for repeatedly taking images of the animal, a control unit for generating calving information from the images taken, and an alert device for sending an alert message according to the calving information generated. The control unit is configured so as, in each image taken, to recognize an animal image, to segment the animal image into multiple animal parts including a torso, to determine a parameter value relating to first pixels of said torso in the taken images as a time-dependent parametric function, and to detect contractions when the parameter value meets a predetermined contraction criterion. The method comprises receiving (20) data representative of a set of points selected by a user within the image and interpreting from the points a particular anatomical measurement type which the user is intending to perform.
