    Abstract: Novel 1-[(heterocyclyl)alkyl]-4-diarylmethoxy piperidine derivatives are disclosed having the formula ##STR1## where n is 2-6, Ar.sup.1 and Ar.sup.2 are aryl and B is a substituted benzimidazolyl radical. These compounds are useful for their antianaphylactic and antihistaminic properties. Specific claimed compounds are 1-{3-[4-(diphenylmethoxy)-1-piperidinyl]-propyl}-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidaz ol-2-one, 1-{2-[4-(diphenylmethoxy)-1-piperidinyl]ethyl}1-, 3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-one, and 1-{4-[4-(diphenylmethoxy)-1-piperidinyl]butyl}-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol -2-one.

    Abstract: Novel thermosetting resin composites containing an inorganic mineral filler and a coupling agent are provided which include a coupling agent comprising a multifunctional hydroxl bearing hydrocarbon which has been at least partially acetylated. The novel coupling agents are particularly useful in reducing the viscosity of the resin-filler blend, thus resulting in better handling characteristics and lower energy requirements for the mechanical processing of the composite blends. The composites incorporating the coupling agents disclosed are particularly useful in the production of laminating resins for use in spray-laminate operations, as well as in the manufacture of fiber glass reinforced sheet-molding compounds (SMC) and bulk-molding compounds (BMC).

    Abstract: An overload coupling has two relatively rotatable parts that are joined for corotation about a common axis by at least one frangible pin. The parts have recesses with cutting edges that sever the pins and springs that urge alternative pins on remainders of the severed pins through the recesses to automatically re-establish frangible connection. An assembly of pins can be spring loaded with the aid of a draw pin that releases the pins when in place and mounted on the coupling.

    Abstract: A cultivating implement has a row of rotors that are driven to rotate about upwardly extending axes and an elongated roller with pins that project obliquely rearwardly, considering the normal direction of rotation of the roller. The roller is mounted on arms that are pivoted to the frame on pivots. On the rear ends of the arms, a carrier is pivoted and elongated scraper elements are mounted along the length of the carrier. The elements can be mounted in groups or single and extend forwardly and downwardly so that their forward end parts bear on the roller's surface between the pins. Gaps in the elements or between same allow the pins to pass during rotation of the roller. The carrier is interconnected with the arms by springs that bias the end parts into contact with the roller's surface.

    Abstract: The high power wrenching tool includes a high-torque ratchet wrench, a reaction frame which supports the ratchet wrench, and a fluid actuator on the frame for actuating the wrench. The wrench comprises two parallel side plates. Each plate has at one end thereof a bore. A ratchet wheel and a cooperating pawl are operatively disposed between the plates. The ratchet wheel has a center slot and carries a plurality of angularly-spaced teeth. The frame has at one end a pair of transversely-spaced outer rings positioned adjacent to the ratchet wheel. A pair of hubs are removably securable to the opposite sides of the wheel and are rotatably mounted in the frame's outer rings. Each hub has a slot identical to the slot of the wheel and in register therewith. The reciprocating actuator is detachably coupled between the pawl arm and the other end of the frame.

    Abstract: A semi-automatic bailer plug assembly for attachment to the transom of a boat having a bail hole therein for receiving the bailer plug assembly is described. The bailer plug is normally spring biased into a closed position to plug the bail hole until it is manually retracted by a plunger disposed in opposition to the spring. When the plunger is pulled back and the boat transom is out of the water, a pair of stop members engage the plug and hold the plug in an open position permitting the boat to be drained of water. The stop members are coupled to a pair of float members. When the transom of the boat is placed in the water a buoyant force acting against the floats releases the spring biased plunger from engagement with the stop members and permits the bailer plug to automatically close the bail hole in the boat transom.

    Abstract: A rotating brush assembly is disclosed for a vehicle washing apparatus. The brush assembly includes a brush and a flexible plastic brush shaft which permit the brush to swing or tilt in response to the force exerted on the brush by the movement of the vehicle relative to the vehicle washing apparatus. The brush motor rotates the brush in a direction which walks the brush along the surfaces of the vehicle. The combined action of the rotary reaction force of the brush against the vehicle and the flex of the flexible plastic brush shaft causes the brush to turn the front and rear corners of the vehicle to wash the front, side and rear surfaces. In addition, a brush assembly pivot mechanism is installed on the brush assembly to permit the brush to pivot in a direction parallel to the path of the vehicle in the event the vehicle is inadvertently driven into the brush while the brush is not rotating. The brush assembly pivot mechanism prevents damage to the vehicle and the brush assembly.

    Abstract: A pumping unit for a well pump has a surface main cylinder with a main piston reciprocable therein, the piston having a connection to a standard well pump. In a flow cylinder of a relatively large diameter, a flow piston reciprocates within and divides the flow cylinder into a first flow chamber and a second flow chamber. The first flow chamber is in communication with the main cylinder. Air under pressure substantially to counterbalance the load on the well pump connection is supplied to the second flow chamber. There is a drive cylinder divided into a first drive chamber and a second drive chamber by a drive piston connected to but substantially smaller in diameter than the flow piston.

    Abstract: A blade sharpener includes a thin cylindrical sharpening rod made of a ceramic material which is loaded with a strong abrasive. This rod is equipped at each end with a conical guide-guard. Means is provided to position the rod with one hand so that the other hand can be used to draw the blade simultaneously along the rod and along the blade from near the blade handle toward the blade tip. The angle of the conical surfaces of the guide-guards with respect to the sharpening rod is the same as the desired angle of the blade to the rod while sharpening. The blade is initially positioned flat against the conical surface of one of the guide-guards to set the angle of the blade to the rod, and that angle is manually mantained during each sharpening stroke.

    Abstract: A process and a plant for the recovery of water from humid air are disclosed. Humid ambient air flows through an adsorber in which an adsorbing agent removes moisture from the air by adsorption. Subsequently, air heated by an air heater and delivered by a fan flows through the adsorber in order to recover by desorption the moisture from the moistened adsorbing agent. Thereafter, the water vapor-containing air is precooled in a counterflow heat exchanger and subsequently conducted into a condenser in which heat is extracted from it by means of a heat pump so that the water vapor condenses and is available in the form of liquid water. The air cooled and dried in the condenser is utilized in the counterflow heat exchanger for precooling the air fed into the condenser. The heat given off by the heat pump is supplied to the air heater in order to be utilized therein for heating the air flowing through the air heater.
