Abstract: A cask for the dry containment of radioactive fuel elements. The cask has a cover which contains valved drain and purge passageways. These passageways are sealed by after purge cover seals which are clamped over them and to the outer surface of the cover. The cover seals are tested by providing them with a pair of concentric ring seal elements squeezed between the cover seal and the outer surface of the cover and by forcing a gas under pressure into the annular region between the seal element.

Abstract: Apparatus for feeding livestock, provided with a housing having a head insertion opening via which the animals can take in the food, and comprising a dosing device for food supply to the housing and responsive to the presence of selected specimens of the animals. There are provided discharge means for food leavings from the housing, said discharge means becoming operative upon removal of the head of an animal from the head insertion opening, and inoperative in the presence of the head of an animal in the head insertion opening.
Abstract: This invention deals with improvements in a seal for sealing flanges, covers and other objects, which seal consists of a combination of at least one metal annular packing and one elastic annular packing, one of them being situated concentrically about the other one, the metal packing serving mainly as a sealing member and the elastic packing serving as a backing ring. One of the flanges is provided with a stepped recess by which the position of the seal is fully defined and by which the seal is supported laterally. In case of providing the seal in the form of two mutually spaced concentric metal packings between which the elastic packing is fitted, the stepped recess in the flange possesses an appreciably lower upright edge.

Abstract: A detection plate for an identification system, comprising a resonant circuit, a switching device, and coding means, characterized in that the coding means comprises a digital circuit and is arranged to receive, in operation, supply voltage from the resonant circuit via rectifier means.
Abstract: To permit slight tilting adjustment of a bearer ring with respect to the shaft of an associated printing cylinder upon interposition of a layer of resilient, shock-absorbent, wear-resistant material between the shaft and the shaft-receiving opening of the bearer ring, and to allow for inaccuracies of fit due to this elastic insert, the bearer ring is formed with openings therethrough in alignment with similar openings formed in the end face of the associated cylinder, exact positioned alignment between the bearer ring and the printing cylinder being obtained by introducing adjustment pins through these openings, the adjustment pins having relatively eccentrically offset sections in the bores of the bearer ring and the printing cylinder so that, upon rotation of the eccenter pins, exact concentricity of the bearer ring and the printing cylinder can be obtained.
Abstract: Device for supplying fuel to the atomizer of a combustion engine comprises at least a pump to be connected with the atomizer having a piston-bounded pump chamber and an electromagnet for reciprocating said piston.Said device is improved, particularly with regard to the seal of the pump piston, the control and the adjustment of the pumped quantity of fuel, the life-time and the cooling of the device, the compactness and simplicity of construction and/or simplification of maintenance.
Abstract: Additives useful in producing foundry mold and core washes comprise either: a mixture of 66.75% to 80.05% of an organophilic clay and 19.95% to 33.25% of an alcohol soluble, hexane insoluble thermoplastic resin skin-forming agent; or 7.15% to 15.25% of an organophilic clay, 2.85% to 4.75% of the skin forming agent, and 80% to 90% of a refractory material having a particle size fo 200 mesh or finer.
Abstract: A radiographic cassette comprises a bottom and a cover capable of being locked together. The cover has a part of its normally rigid structure replaced by a flexible foil which, when vacuum is aplied to the interior of the cassette, exerts a pressure upon the film/screen combination contained within the latter. In this way an intimate contact between the film and the screen is established and at the same time the distance between the film/screen combination and the object to be radiographed is reduced to a minimum due to the small thickness of the foil. The cassette may be used in the field of high-definition radiography especially for mammography.

Abstract: A sealing device comprising a hollow body member having a plurality of spaced apart external deformable flanges and provided with a sealant on its external surface, preferably between the flanges. The device may be used to seal a supply line within a duct by pushing it within the duct so that the flanges are deformed, the sealant preferably being provided in a generous amount so that it fills the remaining gaps between the flanges after such deformation. The hollow body member may then be sealed to the supply line using, for example, a heat-shrinkable sleeve. The device may also be used to couple and repair hollow substrates such as gas and water pipes.
Abstract: Purified lead and antimony oxide are produced from antimonial lead alloys by oxidation of the molten alloy to form purified metallic lead and a slag of lead oxides and antimony oxides, separation of the metal and slag, and subsequent partial reduction and fuming of the slag to produce pure antimony oxide.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved apparatus for use in connection with a convertible table, seat structure whereby the back portion of the seat can be moved to a position relative to the seat portion of the seat such that the back portion functions as a table top and incorporates a locking device for securely locking the back portion of the seat when such back portion of the seat has been moved to its table top position.
Abstract: There is disclosed an end piece for the bottom rail of a venetian blind which end piece is engaged by a flexible lifting member for the blind and a flexible tilting member both of which are positioned within the side housing of the blind. The flexible tilting member engages the end piece in sliding relationship such that movement of the flexible tilting member does not result in tilting of the bottom rail. Further, a portion of the end piece of the bottom rail is engaged for vertical movement in a slot in the housing in such a manner as to further insure against tilting of the bottom rail while permitting vertical adjustment thereof. The arrangements for engaging the lifting tape of the lifting member and the flexible tilting member with the end piece are such as to provide for very ready assembly while insuring against accidental disconnection.
Abstract: A telescoping guide rail construction comprising a plurality of telescoping rails, generally U-shaped in cross-section, and balls between the rails running in concave ball races formed by integral mouldings of adjacent rails. At least one of the integral mouldings is formed by a portion of a flange bent over at the end of a leg of one of the rails and bent back at least substantially into contact with the leg concerned. In order to resist deformative effects from the rolling action of the balls on their races in use, the free end of the curved-back portion of the flange is bent back towards the leg concerned to form a terminal edge bearing with its extremity on the leg in the vicinity of the base thereof.
Abstract: A heat-recoverable sleeve having a meltable or softenable insert inside it, a thermal barrier being located between the sleeve and the insert. The barrier may be crosslinked thermoplastic netting, and the sleeve may be transparent.
