Abstract: A floating structure useful as a mooring device for vessels, comprises an anchor having a rigid arm pivotally interconnected therewith and upstanding therefrom. The rigid arm at its upper end has a pivot about a horizontal axis and also a pivot 360.degree. about a vertical axis by which a float is interconnected to the rigid arm for vertical and horizontal swinging movement relative to the rigid arm. The float may directly overlie the rigid arm, in which case a further rigid arm extends laterally from the float to the vessel or to a further float which in turn is connected to the vessel. Alternatively, the float may be laterally offset from the rigid arm and connected thereto on one side by its own rigid arm and on the other side to the vessel by a further arm rigid with the float and pivotally connected to the vessel.

Abstract: A system is provided for continuously monitoring and displaying temperature levels of a patient which is particularly adapted to indicate the ovulation activity of a female through monitoring the temperature variations of the body of the patient during the menstrual cycle. The system includes a transducer, such as a thermistor, for producing an output voltage in accordance with the temperature sensed, a voltage controlled oscillator for producing an output whose frequency varies in accordance with the output voltage of the thermistor, and a binary coded counter, controlled by the system clock, which produces a four-bit digital output representative of the measured temperature. The output of the counter during each cycle is stored in a shift register and after N cycles, an analog voltage representative of the arithmetic average for the N cycles is compared with an analog voltage corresponding to the output for the N + 1 cycle.
Abstract: A pallet for holding a printed circuit board on a conveyor in a solder wave machine which applies molten solder to the underside of the printed circuit board for completing connections, includes a pair of longitudinally extending first and second bars mounted on a frame, the bars including a pair of oppositely disposed longitudinally-extending grooves for receiving the opposite side marginal edges of the printed circuit board. Each one of the grooves is substantially channel-shaped and extends to the rear end portion of the bars so that the printed circuit board may be slipped into the grooves at the rear end portion of the bars to insert the board in position. One of the bars is transversely movable relative to the frame, and the other bar is fixed in position on the frame, the movable bar being fixed releasably to the first bar in an adjusted position to the frame for accommodating various different sizes of boards.
Abstract: A rapid process in not more than 60 seconds of an imagewise exposed photographic light sensitive film, comprising developing or activating, stabilizing, fixing, and washing.
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for making a cable particularly well suited for reinforcing elastomeric articles such as belts and tires for motor vehicles. A plurality of metallic filaments are bundled together and helically wound by passing the bundle over a deflecting edge without twisting the filaments around each other. One or more wrapping filaments are then passed over a similar deflecting edge to pre-form the wrapping filament into a helical shape. The wrapping filament is then wound about the bundle while maintaining the hand and pitch of the pre-formed helical shape of the wrapping filament to correspond to those of the filaments of the bundle. The apparatus provided for practicing the method has a horizontal rotor which is driven about a spindle and a plurality of spools independently suspended for feeding filaments to be cabled to the rotor.
Abstract: A spreader for fertilizer or similar material has a metering mechanism for said material to vary the rate of spreading. The metering mechanism has two metering members in face-to-face contact defining a metering opening. A hydraulic ram moves the metering members so as to open and close the opening. An adjustable stop within the ram allows the ram's stroke to be changed. This changes the extent to which the ram can open the opening so that the ram can be supplied with fluid under sufficient pressure to overcome possible corrosion between the metering members.
Abstract: A bracket is provided to be mounted on the forward end of the loader arms and to connect the loader arms to the bucket or the like in a readily detachable manner. The bracket is provided with securing means which operate sequentially to first lock the bracket to the loader arms and secondly lock the bucket to the bracket. The geometric relationship between the bucket and the loader arms is thus unaffected.
Abstract: The invention provides a method, an appliance and an installation for the termination of small displacements of points on the surface of a solid body.A catadioptric covering, such as a catadioptric paint or a piece of a sheet with catadioptric properties is applied on the point of the solid body whose displacement is to be determined, and after illuminating said covering, one determines in a viewing direction different from that of the displacement the variations in the quantity of light received by a photosensitive receiver coming from an image of the said covering in the plane of which is located a knife-edge partly covered by the said image.

Abstract: A screen ceiling is disclosed comprising a plurality of elongated panels arranged generally in vertical planes with adjacent ends of panels secured to supporting gusset joints in turn suspended from an overhead fixed support structure. Each gusset joint has an outwardly extending support for each panel connected thereto. The outwardly projecting supports in turn have projections extending through one or more openings in the panels which openings are adjacent the ends thereof. Joining and locking members cooperate with the projections extending through the panel openings to lock the panel ends to the gusset joints and prevent loosening.

Abstract: A venting and aerating arrangement for closed flow systems for water of fluctuating temperature is disclosed. A vent casing, defining an air collecting chamber, extends upwardly from a horizontal conduit of the system. A float controlled vent valve is arranged in the upper portion of the casing. A grid of spaced rods is arranged in the junction between casing and conduit and extends into the flow passage of the conduit to break up bubbles of air and other gases with the liberated gas ascending into the air collecting chamber. An improved valve construction is also disclosed. The valve has an exteriorly threaded valve body with an axially extending flow passage. A first axial extension on the valve body has a smaller diameter than the valve body proper. The valve body has a plane end surface forming a valve seat surrounding the flow passage. An exteriorly threaded cylindrical closure body of the same diameter as the valve body and having a second axial extension of smaller diameter is included in the valve.
