  • Patent number: 3991963
Abstract: A curtain rod holder includes a relatively flat support member having a hook extending from one side thereof which is configurated to engage and support a curtain rod. An anchor, which may extend through an aperture in the support member or may be integral therewith, extends from the other side of the support member. The anchor includes an elongate shank configurated to be penetrable into a supporting wall and has an axis and a pair of inclined projections which extend from the shank. The projections lock the anchor and prevent relative movement of the latter with respect to the wall when the anchor is driven into the wall and is rotated about the axis thereof to twist the projections about the shank.

  • Patent number: 3991665
Abstract: A meatball cooker has a frame on which a pair of generally cylindrical rollers are mounted alongside each other to extend horizontally with their axes parallel to each other. At least one of the rollers, and preferably both, includes a helical groove concentric with the respective axis, the groove being of a character to engage the customary meatball. The rollers are heated internally, and preferably externally also, and are rotated relative to each other about their respective axes and preferably in the same directions with the helical grooves of the same hand to advance and turn the meatballs. There is an enclosure around the rollers and a grease pan beneath. Conveniently there is a feeding chute for introducing the meatballs to the device and a receiving chute for carrying away processed meatballs.

  • Patent number: 3991150
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing a thermoplastic pipe with an inner groove, by subjecting a heat plasticized pipe to the action of some rotatably supported deforming rollers which are expanded and rotated by means of a mandril. A relative rotating motion between said deforming rollers and the pipe is maintained until the pipe is no longer permanently deformable and the relatieve rotating motion is maintained to strengthen the walls of said groove.

  • Patent number: 3991128
Abstract: Vinylpyrene (substituted or not) is prepared in a single reaction stage by reacting the corresponding acetylpyrene with a metal alkoxide, e.g. aluminum isopropoxide, in an inert organic solvent, e.g. a xylene, at a temperature above 110.degree. C. which, for some reaction conditions, optimally is between 130.degree. and 150.degree. C. The presence of hydroquinone in the mixture reduces the time and increases the yield of the reaction.

  • Patent number: 3990363
Abstract: A rotary screen printing machine has a number of cylindrical stencils each with an internal squeegee and at least one stencil has an impermeable area parallel to the center line of the stencil. The squeegee of the said stencil may be raised or lowered while the impermeable area is in contact with the material being printed such that the printing action may be interrupted during one or more revolutions of the stencil during continuous operation of the printing machine. The stencil will print only when the screen portion is in contact with the material and the squeegee is lowered. A pattern can thus be printed which has a repeat length greater than the circumference of a stencil.

  • Patent number: 3989193
Abstract: A jet deflecting device has a first rotatable pipe section connected to the nd of an engine jet pipe and a second pipe section rotatably connected to the end of the first pipe section. Nozzle flaps are provided at the end of the second pipe section, and coupled to be moved inwardly and outwardly in response to axial movement of a nozzle actuating skirt slidably mounted at the end of the second pipe section. A first drive motor on the stationary jet pipe directly rotates the first pipe section by way of driving gears. A second drive motor is coupled by means of gears to rotate the second pipe section independently of rotation of the first pipe section. Actuating devices mounted on the engine jet pipe and providing a linear movement are coupled by way of actuating arms extending externally of the pipe sections to the nozzle actuated skirt for control of the nozzle flaps.

  • Patent number: 3988422
Abstract: Sodium carbonate is added to water used to scrub converter gases so that calcium-oxide particles in the gas react with the aqueous sodium carbonate and a thin inactive film of calcium carbonate is formed on the calcium-oxide particles, using carbon dioxide in the gas for the reaction. The coated particles are then separated from the wash water by settling and sedimentation and the wash water is recycled with the addition of more sodium carbonate and water.
