  • Patent number: 11501301
Abstract: Image analysis is performed on a user at a transaction terminal. Based on behaviors, expressions, and activities of the user, fraud or potential fraud is flagged. When fraud is flagged, the transaction terminal stops processing an active transaction on behalf of the user and alerts are sent. When potential fraud is flagged, images/video associated with the active transaction are sent for review and the active transaction may be suspended or permitted to proceed at the transaction terminal. In an embodiment, a same user conducting multiple transactions with different accounts at a same transaction terminal or multiple different transaction terminals within a configured period of time is automatically identified as fraud based on a fraud rule.

  • Patent number: 11496452
Abstract: User data is aggregated across a plurality of electronic communication channels and domains. An online system initially authenticates a user for access to the online system over a network. The online system provides a user identifier for the user to an authentication service. The authentication service generates a non-repeatable challenge from the aggregated user data for the user identifier and provides the non-repeatable challenge to the online system. The online system provides the challenge to the user and receives a response from the user. The online system provides the response to the authentication service and the authentication sends a success or failure back to the online system based on the response to the challenge, and based on the success or failure the online system makes a final determination for authenticating the user for accessing to the online system.

  • Patent number: 11494933
Abstract: Item recognition of a given item is trained on a single item from different views. The item recognition is then trained on images of the given item partially occluded by a second item having same, similar, or different shapes and features to that of the given item. General features of the item are noted and used to detect the given item when the given item is presented with multiple different items having multiple different occluded views.

  • Patent number: 11494750
Abstract: Various embodiments herein each include at least one of systems, methods, software, and data structures for product identifier not-on-file imaging system and processing. Some such embodiments include solutions that automate capturing and communicating images of imaged items for which an item identifier (e.g., UPC, DIGIMARC) cannot be located to facilitate correction and updating of product lookup databases to remove inefficiencies and sub-optimal experiences and realization at checkout. One such embodiment in the form of a method includes delivering, to a product pricing update location, an image of an item presented to a product scanner for scanning upon an occurrence of an item-not-on-file event indicating an unsuccessful price lookup database query performed with regard to an item identifier read by the product scanner from the presented item.

  • Patent number: 11488400
Abstract: Various embodiments herein each include at least one of systems, methods, software, and data structures for context-aided machine vision item differentiation. For example, one method embodiment includes identifying a customer in a shopping area, receiving an image of the customer holding an item, and performing item identification processing on the image to identify the item the customer is holding. The item identification processing, in some embodiments, includes generating a multidimensional feature vector with a data representation of each feature extracted from the image forming each dimension of the multidimensional feature vector. The item identification processing further includes matching the multidimensional feature vector to a stored multidimensional feature vector of a plurality of stored multidimensional feature vectors that are each associated with a respective product and passing a representation of the identified item for use by another process.

  • Patent number: 11475398
Abstract: Multiple portions of information for a product are hashed to produce unique hash values during a journey of the product from production to purchase by a consumer. The hash values and information are stored in a cryptographic cooperatively shared product data structure. The hash values are subsequently submitted as product or portions of product searches to the cryptographic cooperatively shared product data structures and results are obtained for products associated with the portions of the information. The results are provided to services to drive proactive actions with respect to the product or other products related to any of the portions of information.

  • Patent number: 11475397
Abstract: An item return for an item is identified and a workflow is determined based on first factors defined in customized rules. Resources associated with the workflow may be staged on devices associated with the item return and the workflow is initiated. When the item is detected as being present at a drop-off location for the item, item and customer information are gathered in accordance with the customized rules associated with the workflow. Security checks are processed using second factors defined in the customized rules. A decision is made based on the security checks as to whether the item return can continue processing with the workflow or as to whether an item return exception is to be raised for evaluation and/or inspection of the item and item return information collected before the item return exception was raised.

  • Patent number: 11475741
Abstract: A system and method for detecting a foreign object is disclosed. A transmit assembly has a transmit electrode, a ground plane, and a shield electrode positioned between the transmit electrode and the ground plane. Drive circuitry applies a predetermined fixed signal to the transmit electrode and to the shield electrode. A receive assembly is positioned adjacent to the transmit assembly and has a receive electrode. Detection circuitry is coupled to the receive electrode and generates a receive signal based the predetermined fixed signal applied to the transmit electrode. A controller monitors the receive signal to determine when a foreign object has been placed in proximity to the transmit assembly and/or the receive assembly.

  • Patent number: 11475669
Abstract: Video frames from a video are compressed into a single image or a single data structure that represents a unique visual flowprint or visual signature for a given activity being modeled from the video frames. The flowprint comprises a computed summary of the original pixel values associated with the video frames within the single image and the flowprint is specific to movements occurring within the video frames that are associated with the given activity. In an embodiment, the flowprint is provided as input to a machine-learning algorithm to allow the algorithm to perform object tracking and monitoring from the flowprint rather than from the video frames of the video, which substantially improves processor load and memory utilization on a device that executes the algorithm, and substantially improved responsiveness of the algorithm.

  • Patent number: 11467313
Abstract: A system and method for identifying a foreign object in a stack of media items is disclosed. An upper clamping plate and an opposing lower clamping plate are positioned to hold a received stack of media items. Each clamping plate has an array of capacitive electrodes positioned on an inner surface thereof. Each of the capacitive electrodes in the one array positioned directly across from a corresponding one in the first array to form a capacitive electrode pair. A controller measures the capacitance of each capacitive electrode pair when the received stack of media items is positioned between the clamping plates, determine if a foreign object is present within the received stack of media items based on the capacitance measurements from each capacitive electrode pair, and generate a signal indicating that a foreign object has been detected when a foreign object is determined to be present.

  • Patent number: 11461754
Abstract: A system and method of providing two-way communication between an isolated POS system and a website are described. The POS system operates as an air gap system. In response to detecting a trigger event the two-way communication is initiated for installation, diagnostic and repair services. POS information for transmission to the website through the internet is generated using a QR code that includes the website address and a data payload that depends on the desired service. The QR code is read by a smart phone and transmitted to the website. The website responds by sending response data dependent on the QR code and desired service. The response data is communicated to the POS system via another QR code for further operations by the POS system based thereon.
