Abstract: By more flexibly controlling connection for each transmission rate in the wireless base station, the connection is established using possibly a higher transmission rate so long as the connection capacity of the wireless base station has a margin while efficiently determining the transmission rate according to the wave intensity from a wireless communication terminal. If the connection capacity of the base station has a margin after additionally connecting one wireless communication terminal, i.e., if the communication traffic is equal to or less than a predetermined margin threshold value, the rate decision threshold value to determine the transmission rate for connection is lowered by a predetermined value to determine a transmission rate so that the connection is established using a transmission rate higher than that determined by the rate decision threshold value as the default value (initial value) to thereafter establish the connection.

Abstract: It is made possible for a DTMF tone signal associated with a button depressed on an IP telephone terminal to arrive at the opposite party even if an IP telephone terminal does not have a function of sending a DTMF tone signal. If a DTMF tone signal transmission request signal detection unit in a proxy detects a DTMF tone signal transmission request signal inserted in an RTP packet or a SIP packet received from an IP telephone terminal or detects a DTMF digit signal contained in the DTMF tone signal transmission request signal, a DTMF tone signal generation unit generates a DTMF tone signal associated with the DTMF digit signal. A voice encoder encodes the DTMF tone signal in the same way as a voice signal. An RTP payload replacement unit replaces a voice signal in a payload of the RTP packet with the encoded DTMF tone signal.

Abstract: A fingerprint input apparatus for providing a plurality of inputs while moving a finger to acquire a fingerprint image, the fingerprint input apparatus determining an intersection of the plurality of input partial fingerprint images to calculate a relative location between the plurality of partial fingerprint images on the basis of the intersection and outputting the calculated relative location with the plurality of partial fingerprint images to an external device. The intersection of the plurality of partial fingerprint images is obtained, for example, on the basis of a density distribution of dots constituting each of the image. The relative location is at least one of the moving direction, the moving distance, and the angle of rotation. Thereby, there is no movable part and thus it eliminates a need for providing the external device with software processing for calculating the relative location of the partial fingerprint images, thereby achieving downsizing and power saving of the apparatus.

Abstract: A single main unit manages information on hardware resources and the like of all main units connected to a network in an integrated fashion. A slot management module, a slot control module, and a physical slot/managed slot comparison table are provided between an input/output control module and a slot interface subordinate thereto. The input/output control module accesses the slot interface by using virtual slot identification information. The slot management module refers to the physical slot/managed slot comparison table, converts the virtual slot identification information into physical slot identification information, and accesses a slot control module corresponding to the physical slot identification information obtained by the conversion, thereby realizing a physical access of the input/output control module to the slot interface.

Abstract: In a printer which prints on a roll paper transported toward a discharge port and cuts the roll paper, an exchangeable lower cover is attached to the printer. The exchangeable lower cover defines a lower edge of the discharge port. A change of height of the discharge port is allowed by exchanging the exchangeable lower cover for another one. Hereby, it is possible to change specifications between one for holding a printed slip and the other for allowing the printed slip to fall freely. In the former specification, a brush provided at a periphery of an upper edge of the discharge port is in contact with a lower cover. On the other hand, in the latter specification, the brush is in distant from another lower cover.

On the display, the size of the first auxiliary icon is greater than the object icon and a second auxiliary icon corresponds to a second detection area, with the size of the second auxiliary icon greater than that of the object icon. Upon detection of external pressure an operation signal output unit outputs different operation signals according to positional relationships of a pressure-detected position on which the sensor detected the external pressure, in correspondence to a display position of the first auxiliary icon and a display position of the second auxiliary icon displayed by the display unit.

Abstract: Disclosed are a VoIP server apparatus and a method for maintaining VoIP server software in the server apparatus which transmits/receives a packet to/from an IP terminal via network to provide VoIP service. The method includes: assigning a virtual IP address to the server apparatus; associating a first IP address used by first VoIP server software with the virtual IP address; activating second VoIP server software while the first VoIP server software receives a packet addressed to the virtual IP address and provides VoIP service; changing the association of the virtual IP address with the first IP address to association of the virtual IP address with a second IP address used by the second VoIP server software; receiving a packet addressed to the virtual IP address by the second VoIP server software; and changing VoIP service by the first VoIP server software to VoIP service by the second VoIP server software.

The used communication band is recorded for each location, and a communication fee is determined based on the used communication band recorded for each location. The communication extent of the access line connected via the gateway is compared for each location, and the terminal is connected to internet via the gateway, to which a less communication extent access line is connected.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for identifying audio equipment plugs to be connected to a jack interface of an IT terminal including a common jack interface for a headphone, an earphone microphone and a stereo microphone and for automatically providing appropriate setup. An audio CODEC 50 is connected by way of an input/output selector circuit 42 to a jack interface 10 to which an audio equipment plug 70 is to be connected. Also connected to the LEFT and RIGHT signal terminals of the jack interface 10 is an R-V conversion circuit 20. The output voltages V-LEFT 201 and V-RIGHT 202 from the R-V conversion circuit 20 are compared with a reference voltage by comparator circuits 31, 32 for controlling controllers 41, 51 of an input/output selector circuit 42 and an audio CODEC 50 by the comparison outputs.

Abstract: In an electronic apparatus having a touch panel and a chassis for supporting the touch panel, pair of fixing cushions are fixed to the touch panel along edges, which are parallel to each other, of the touch panel. Pair of vibration absorbing cushions are fixed to the chassis parallel to each other. A fixing flame is disposed between the touch panel and the chassis and fixed to the fixing cushions and the vibration absorbing cushions. Thus, the touch panel is supported against the chassis by the fixing cushions, the fixing frame and the vibration absorbing cushions. When the touch panel vibrates, the vibration absorbing cushions prevent transmission of the vibration from the touch panel to the chassis through fixing cushions and the fixing frame. Accordingly, the vibration of the touch panel hardly exercises a harmful influence on components mounted on the chassis.

Abstract: An authentication system stops performing an authentication process on a communication terminal which is in an aborted state. The communication terminal can connect to a network when the authentication thereof is successful. The communication terminal changes between an operational state and an aborted state, and indicates a transition to the aborted state when the communication terminal changes from the operational state to the aborted state. An authentication device repeatedly performs the authentication process, counts a predetermined period for the communication terminal whose authentication has been successful, and performs the authentication process again on the communication terminal when the predetermined period elapses. When a transition to the aborted state is indicated by the communication terminal, the authentication device stops counting the predetermined period for the communication terminal and keeps the authentication of the communication terminal effective.

A friction imparting arrangement has a friction built between the movable bracket and the fixed bracket. The movable range switching member is enable to switch the moving range of the movable bracket between the first movable range and a second movable range smaller than the first movable range by a pushing operation.
