Publication number: 20100043104Abstract: The present invention provides a process for generation of a transformed plant capable of emitting fluorescence by introducing a gene encoding a non-plant-derived fluorescent protein into a plant such that the fluorescent protein is recombinantly expressed in the active form of its mature protein in the leaf or petal of the plant, and also provides a transformed garden plant capable of emitting fluorescence that is generated by using the process. For example, cDNA encoding the full-length amino acid sequence of a Chiridius poppei-derived fluorescent protein CpYGFP or its H52F modified protein CpYGFP H52F is inserted into a T-DNA-based expression vector system, which is in turn introduced into the chromosomal DNA of a plant. As a result, the transformed plant thus generated can exhibit fluorescence attributed to these fluorescent proteins and exhibit no substantial difference in the other phenotypes from wild-type one of the plant.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2007Publication date: February 18, 2010Applicant: NEC SOFT, LTD.Inventors: Iwao Waga, Hiromi Takenaka, Shu Muto

Publication number: 20100042876Abstract: A method and system for packet transmission in a hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) system. A modulation and a block length for a transmission are determined based on the average mutual information per bit. The average mutual information per bit is computed based on a current channel signal-to-noise ratio and a plurality of previous transmissions, each being transmitted with a respective coded block length, modulation form, and signal-to-noise ratio. A block error rate is computed for the potential block lengths and modulations based on the average mutual information per bit, and a throughput of the current transmission is determined based on the block error rate. The modulation form and the block length of the transmission are determined based on an analysis of the throughput. If the receiver cannot decode the current transmission, the transmitter repeats the computation to determine the modulation and the block length for retransmission.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2009Publication date: February 18, 2010Applicant: NEC LABORATORIES AMERICA, INC.Inventors: Guosen Yue, Xiaodong Wang
