Abstract: In this system, an instructor's device for teaching how to operate a personal computer is bidirectionally connected to a student's device for learning how to operate a personal computer, via a communication line of various types. The instructor's device has a personal computer as a lesson device, together with a TV monitor, a terminal, etc. for a videophone. The student's device 3 has a PC 1 as a lesson device, together with a TV monitor, a terminal 34, etc. for a videophone. The instructor and the student have a lesson on the personal computers, together with watching the TV monitors respectively.
Abstract: A support beam and a support frame for an office furniture system which can be used to mount and support a variety of furniture system components and electrical and communication equipment. The support beam has an elongate, hollow lower beam section with a top panel and vertical side panels. An elongate upper beam rail having a top extends parallel to and spaced-apart from the lower beam section. This rail has a plurality of post-receiving holes formed in its top for mounting other components such as a support wall. Spaced apart posts rigidly connect the beam rail to the lower beam section. Rail connecting devices are provided at opposite ends of the beam rail for rigidly connecting it to an adjacent end of another beam rail or to the support frame. The support frame has a horizontal metal beam and two elongate, hollow end frame sections extending downwardly from opposite ends of the beam. A raceway is rigidly mounted on a lower portion of this beam and extends downwardly therefrom.
Abstract: A beam deflector for scanning performs deflecting of a charged particle beam having a regular trajectory in a vacuum space to thereby periodically change the trajectory of the charged particle beam. The beam deflector comprises a pair of deflection electrodes disposed so as to confront each inner electrode surface having a symmetrical concave extending in a direction of a beam trajectory.
Abstract: A multilayer thermoplastic extruded structure comprises at least one thermoplastic polyolefin layer; at least one thermoplastic vinyl aromatic polymer layer; and a multicomponent tie layer. The multicomponent tie layer comprises at least one thermoplastic polyolefin; at least one thermoplastic vinyl aromatic polymer; and at least one styrenic block copolymer. Preferred structures are multilayer films used for packaging or multilayer sheets for thermoformed containers.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a series of novel hindered spiro-ketal nitroxides prepared by the ketalization reaction of 1,3-propanediols with triacetoneamine followed by oxidation. These novel spiro-ketals have unexpected advantages in hydrocarbon and monomer solubility which is important in styrene processing and refinery stream inhibition. Further, the invention shows an unexpected advantage over commercially available nitroxides in hydrocarbon solubility, especially in styrene and hydrocarbons. This invention also shows that these novel spiro-nitroxides are capable of inhibiting vinyl and acrylate polymerizations using an effective inhibition concentration of the nitroxide of the present invention.

Abstract: A multi-channel integrated circuit is provided in which each channel has an analog section and a digital section. Each channel of the readout chip employs low noise charge sensitive amplifier at its input followed by other circuitry such as shaper, pole-zero, peak hold, different comparators, buffers and digital control and readout. Each channel produces a self-trigger and a fast timing output. Channel-to-channel time differences are also recorded. Integrated circuit also provides a large dynamic range to facilitate large range of applications. The trigger threshold can be adjusted to provide energy discrimination. The chip has different, externally selectable, operational modes including a sparse readout mode in which only the channels which have received signals greater than a preselected threshold value are read out. The sparse readout mode results in increased data throughput, thus providing fast data acquisition capabilities.
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are disclosed for measuring at least one desired parameter of a patterned structure having a plurality of features defined by a certain process of its manufacturing, wherein the structure represents a grid having at least one cycle formed of at least two metal-containing regions spaced by substantially transparent regions with respect to incident light defining a waveguide. The method utilizes an optical model based on at least some of the features of the structure defined by a certain process of its manufacturing, and is capable of determining theoretical data representative of photometric intensities of light components of different wavelengths specularly reflected from the structure and of calculating said at least one desired parameter of the structure.
Abstract: Alignment of layers during manufacture of a multi-layer sample is controlled by applying optical measurements to a measurement site in the sample. The measurement site includes two diffractive structures located one above the other in two different layers, respectively. The optical measurements comprise at least two measurements with different polarization states of incident light, each measurement including illuminating eh measurement site so as to illuminate one of the diffractive structures through the other. The diffraction properties of the measurement site are indicative of a lateral shift between eth diffractive structures. The diffraction properties detected are analyzed for the different polarization states of the incident light to determine an existing lateral shift between the layers.
