Abstract: A thermoplastic sheet that includes a continuous phase and a dispersed phase, where A) the continuous phase contains a polymer composition resulting from the polymerization of a monomer mixture containing a styrenic monomer and an alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer in the presence of the dispersed phase; and B) the dispersed phase contains one or more block copolymer selected from diblock and triblock copolymers of styrene-butadiene, styrene-butadiene-styrene, styrene-isoprene, styrene-isoprene-styrene, partially hydrogenated styrene-isoprene-styrene. The thermoplastic sheet is formed by extruding a thermoplastic composition that is cut to desired dimensions to form thermoplastic items, e.g. identification cards, credit cards, bank cards, key cards, gift cards, phone cards, playing cards, menus, and the like. Indicia and/or printing can be applied to the items to provide for commercial applications. The sheet may be opaque or may be relatively clear to transparent with a Haze value of 0.01% up to 10%.

Abstract: A system and method for measuring the transpirational characteristics of a permeable polymeric membrane, particularly polymeric membranes used for bandages. The polymeric membrane is placed against a moisture source. A probe is applied to the other side. Signals from the probe are sampled at a high rate to detect a first transient appearance of moisture on the surface being measured. The interval between the first transient response and a predetermined equilibrium value defines the transpirational characteristics of the polymeric membrane.
Abstract: The wafer scanning device causes a wafer to scan in a vacuum area and includes a holder 10 to hold a wafer, a ball screw 20 to move the holder 10 to scan, a motor 50 to drive the ball screw 20 and an integrally formed support frame 60. While the holder 10 and the ball screw 20 are installed in the vacuum area, a transmission mechanism offset from the line of travel of the ball screw 20 and the motor 50 are installed in the atmosphere. Thus the wafer scanning device improves responsiveness with respect to the scanning speed control, enhances the uniformity of the scanning speed, has the motor or the like arranged properly and achieves the tilt of a wafer in a most preferable manner.
Abstract: A catalyst system comprising (i) a bulky ligand catalyst compound; and (ii) a novel borate activator is active for olefin polymerization. The novel borate contains at least one chelating (divalent) ligand and contains at least one fluorine atom. Preferred borate activators are provided as anilinium or carbonium salts. Highly preferred borate salts contain two perfluorinated alkoxy chelating ligands. The catalyst system may be used to produce polyethylene for “end use” applications such as polyethylene film and molded polyethylene goods.
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel process for preparing a catalyst useful in gas phase polymerization of olefins wherein the physical properties of the polymer and the productivity of the catalyst can be altered depending on the sequence of addition of the catalyst components. The catalyst consists of compounds of Ti, Mg, Al and optionally an electron donor supported on an amorphous support.

Abstract: There is described an object for ornamental purposes of the type that has at least one channel 1 where at least one decorative element 2 is arranged that engages, with its side appendices, at tracks 3 formed on the side edges of the channel, which allows the sliding of the decorative element along the channel itself. The object for ornamental purposes includes elements that allow the user to remove the sliding element(s) from the channel(s) in which it or they are arranged so as to allow the replacement of the element(s) with other sliding element(s) into the channel(s), in order to modify the overall aesthetic appearance of the object.
Abstract: The cycle time for a rotomolding process is improved through the use of a molding material comprising a blend of at least two polyethylenes having narrow molecular weight distributions and homogeneous comonomer distributions. Alternatively, the molding temperature may be reduced to conserve energy and reduce energy costs. The polyethylene blend also has a narrow molecular weight distribution of less than 3 and a density of from 0.930 to 0.950 g/cc. Rotomolded parts prepared from the blend composition have excellent impact resistance and are also resistant to warpage. A preferred process employs a blend composition which contains a blend component having a higher molecular weight and a lower density than another blend component—this blend may be used to prepare rotomolded parts with warpage resistance and improved environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR). A highly preferred process uses a blend composition which further contains a minor amount (from 0.

Abstract: A method and system are presented for monitoring a process sequentially applied to a stream of substantially identical articles by a processing tool, so as to terminate the operation of the processing tool upon detecting an end-point signal corresponding to a predetermined value of a desired parameter of the article being processed. The article is processed with the processing tool. Upon completing the processing in response to the end-point signal generated by an end-point detector continuously operating during the processing of the article, integrated monitoring is applied to the processed article to measure the value of the desired parameter. The measured value of the desired parameter is analyzed to determine a correction value thereof to be used for adjusting the end-point signal corresponding to the predetermined value of the desired parameter for terminating the processing of the next article in the stream.
Abstract: Relative Mean Arterial Pressure values are obtained non-invasively using a probe to obtain moisture measurements at a selected site on a subject. A control collects data samples. A converter produces a relative value of Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) in response to the collected data (DPM) in accordance with a correlation defined by: MAP=(DPM?DPM(0))/K(I).
Abstract: A multi-channel integrated circuit is provided in which each channel has an analog section and a digital section. Each channel of the readout chip employs low noise charge sensitive amplifier at its input followed by other circuitry such as shaper, pole-zero, peak hold, different comparators, buffers and digital control and readout. Each channel produces a self-trigger and a fast timing output. Channel-to-channel time differences are also recorded. Integrated circuit also provides a large dynamic range to facilitate large range of applications. The trigger threshold can be adjusted to provide energy discrimination. The chip has different, externally selectable, operational modes including a sparse readout mode in which only the channels which have received signals greater than a preselected threshold value are read out. The sparse readout mode results in increased data throughput, thus providing fast data acquisition capabilities.
