  • Patent number: 4773183
Abstract: In an automatically opened and closed mechanism, such a power window, a sunroof or the like, which is opened and closed automatically, a contact sensitive control apparatus according to the invention includes a sealed tube stretched on a frame of an opened and closed portion. A change in the pressure within the tube produced by contact with the frame when the opened and closed portion is closed is sensed by a pressure sensor. When the change in the pressure is detected, the closing of the opened and closed portion is stopped at once. This allows the occurrence of an accident of injury to be prevented in advance which includes portion of a human body being pinned by the window or the like when the opened and closed portion is closed.

  • Patent number: 4771790
Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic blood pressure meter which is adapted to measure blood pressure from a finger. A cuff for applying pressure to the finger comprises a plurality of chambers which are communicated to each other and, thereby, provides a sufficient flexibility to closely conform to the contour of the finger. A sensor for detecting pulse wave data may be conveniently place on the inner surface of the cuff and is adapted to detect the reflection of light by an artery. Further, an air buffer can increase the effective air volume of the cuff and can reduce the rate of the pressure drop of the air cuff for a given rate of air vent from the cuff. By deriving the pulse wave data and computing the systolic and diastolic blood pressure therefrom in the course of increasing the air pressure of the cuff, the discomfort to the patient whose blood pressure is to be measured can be substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 4771393
Abstract: The thermometer includes an oscillation unit having a time constant circuit with a compound resistor including a reference resistor and a temperature sensitive resistor. The compound resistor is switched between the reference and temperature sensitive resistors. A comparator compares the oscillation frequencies of the oscillation unit by switching over the compound resistor between the reference and temperature sensitive resistors at a variable sampling interval, and outputs digital data corresponding to the temperature sensed by the temperature sensitive resistor. The digital data corresponding to the sensed temperature are converted and displayed on a temperature data display unit. The resistive value of the reference resistor and the sampling time are switchable according to the range of temperature measurement. The temperature data conversion unit has several sections which are switchably selected according to particular ranges of temperature measurement.

  • Patent number: 4763973
Abstract: A plurality of modulating elements are provided on a substrate to modulate the intensity of input light in dependence upon an applied physical quantity. Intensity-modulated output optical signals from these plural modulating elements propagate in parallel along the substrate. These parallel optical signals are successively diffracted by a pulsed surface acoustic wave, and the diffracted light is then focused. Since parallel optical signals from a plurality of modulating elements can thus be converted into a serial optical signal, the signal can be transmitted by a single optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 4761603
Abstract: A proximity switch which includes a current feedback type oscillator so that an object in proximity may be detected by the decline in the oscillation output. In order to increase the recovery speed of the oscillation which has dropped as a result of detecting an approaching object, in addition to a first comparison circuit for detecting the object from the oscillation output level, a second comparison circuit is provided for varying the feedback current to the oscillation circuit for maintaining the oscillation level at a certain low level even when the object has come sufficiently close to the proximity switch to otherwise completely terminate the oscillation. By virtue of the increased response speed of the proximity switch, it may be used in an environment where a strong AC magnetic field is present.

  • Patent number: 4757448
Abstract: An electronic cash register employing a price-look-up table includes a detachable recording medium for recording item codes and the corresponding item prices, and a reader for reading the data from the detachable recording medium. During a transaction operation, the recording medium is checked to determine whether it is connected to the reader, and, if it is, the detachable recording medium is searched for an item involved in the transaction operation. If that item is present on the detachable recording medium a transaction operation based on the medium-recorded prices for that item, rather than a previously stored price for that item, is carried out.

  • Patent number: 4754406
Abstract: An electronic device for measuring blood pressure, according to which either systolic pressure may be derived from mean pressure and diastolic pressure, or diastolic pressure may be derived from systolic pressure and mean pressure, whereby the time duration of the application of pressure to the patient's arm may be reduced because the pressure to be applied may only range substantially over between mean pressure and diastolic pressure or between systolic pressure and mean pressure. Additionally proposed is a means for improving the accuracy of the above-mentioned derivation of systolic pressure or diastolic pressure. As a result, considerable reduction in the time duration required for measurement may be reduced without any increase in measurement errors.

  • Patent number: 4748352
Abstract: Disclosed is a power source reset circuit which deactivates a contactless switch for a time interval determined by a delay means so as to prevent any erroneous output from the contactless switch while the output of a power source is unstable immediately after the power source is turned on. The reliability of the delay means is enhanced by the use of a Miller integration circuit which includes a current mirror circuit as a means for amplifying electric current. Furthermore, a switching device may be connected across the capacitor for integration so that the charge in the capacitor may be quickly discharge when the power is turned off, for the purpose of setting the power source reset circuit ready for the subsequent action when the power source is turned on thereafter. This invention is useful in applications where the power source for the contactless switch is frequently turned on and off.
