  • Patent number: 4830019
Abstract: An electronic blood pressure meter, equipped with the functions of computing at least a single relative pulse wave amplitude value in relation with a maximum pulse wave amplitude value, computing a blood pressure value from the cuff pressure when an amplitude of the pulse wave signal has coincided with the relative amplitude value during a change in the amplitude value of the pulse wave signal, and using the reference pressure value thus obtained in accordance with a certain arithmetic formula. If desired, a different process may be selected for determining a blood pressure depending on an initial cuff pressure. This electronic blood pressure allows a measurement to be completed in a very short time and minimizes the discomfort of the person whose blood pressure is to measured through reduction of the maximum cuff pressure. Yet the mathematical formula can be reduced to a simple arithmetic algorithm and is therefore easy to implement.

  • Patent number: 4827115
Abstract: An ID system includes a data carrier attached to an article to be identified, and an ID controller capable of communicating with the data carrier. The data carrier is provided with first and second data buffers in addition to a readable/writable memory. Data to be written in the memory is temporarily written in the first data buffer. Old data at a location of the memory in which the aforementioned data is to be written is read out of the memory and temporarily stored in the second data buffer. Thereafter, the data in the first data buffer is written in the memory. In order to check whether the data has been written in the memory correctly, the written data is read out of the memory. In the event that a write error is detected in the checking operation, the old data of memory will have been preserved in the second data buffer, thereby enabling recovery of the old data.

  • Patent number: 4814944
Abstract: In this mounting structure and method for a surface mounted type electronic component, the component has at least one terminal which protrudes from its bottom surface and which terminates in a foot portion for being soldered to a printed circuit board. Also, a projection extends from this bottom surface of the electronic component for a distance somewhat less than the amounty by which the terminal projects from it. This projection is provisionally secured by adhesive to the printed circuit board with the foot portion of the terminal overlaying that circuit portion to which it is to be soldered, and then subsequently this terminal foot portion is soldered to this circuit portion. Thereby, during the soldering process, there is no risk of the terminal foot portion becoming displaced from the circuit portion and thus badly soldered thereto, because of the locating action of the adhered projection.

  • Patent number: 4809280
Abstract: A microcomputer executes a certain system program with a microprocessor according to a certain system clock. The microcomputer includes a watchdog timer circuit provided external to the microcomputer which counts a certain time interval by counting a certain timer clock which is separate from the system clock with a counter for a certain count and, upon completion of the counting, forcibly resets the microprocessor of the microcomputer. The system program of the microprocessor has a step of producing a reset output to the counter before a predetermined time only when the system action is normal. There is provided a timer circuit which counts the system clock of the microcomputer with a certain counter for a certain number of counts, counting a time interval which is slightly longer than the normal period of the timer clock of the watchdog timer circuit, and upon completion of the counting interrupts the microprocessor of the microcomputer.
