  • Patent number: 4875042
Abstract: This multi channel temperature controller includes several temperature sensors, an electronic multiplexer which receives output signals from these temperature sensors and which sequentially supplies these signals to its output according to the switching action of a selection signal, and an amplifier which receives the output of the electronic multiplexer. Thereby, noise such as due to thermal electro motive force generated in the contacts of prior art sets of reed relays for switching over such temperature sensor output signals can be eliminated. Further, optionally, there may be provided several input circuits, one interposed between each of these temperature sensors and the electronic multiplexer, and each including a capacitor which has electrostatic capacitance substantially greater than the electrostatic capacitance existing between its input circuit and the corresponding temperature sensor. Thereby, common mode voltage noises are eliminated or minimized.

  • Patent number: 4872461
Abstract: In an electronic blood pressure meter, pressurization requirement of the cuff is minimized by predicting a systolic blood pressure level from blood vessel information which may be obtained with an initial cuff pressure which is lower than the systolic blood pressure. The prediction of the systolic blood pressure may be based on a diastolic blood pressure, a maximum pulse wave amplitude value, on other pulse wave amplitude value, a cuff pressure value corresponding to the other pulse wave amplitude value and an empirically obtained parameter. Thus, since the cuff pressure is not increased any more than required, the discomfort to the subject person and the time period required for blood pressure measurement are both minimized and the accuracy of blood pressure measurement is improved.

  • Patent number: 4873448
Abstract: Disclosed is an input circuit using a photo-coupler for circuit isolation which comprises a photo-coupler and an indicator for indicating the presence of an input signal both of which are adapted for an AC input signal as well as a DC input signal of either polarity. Typically, the input end of the photo-coupler comprises a pair of light emitting diodes which are connected in parallel with each other directionally opposite and the indicator comprises a pair of light emitting diode chips which are connected in a similar manner. Thereby, the input circuit can be adapted to input signals of all kinds and the indication of the presence of an input signal is accurate because the indicator is directly driven by the input signal and is not affected by the condition of any external circuit.

  • Patent number: 4870973
Abstract: In an electronic blood pressure meter, artifacts or disturbances of blood pressure measurement due to the motions of the arm or the body of the person whose blood pressure is to be measured is detected from the level of a pulse wave signal. If the pulse wave signal continues to be above a certain reference level for more than a certain threshold time period, it is determined to be indicative of the presence of an artifact which prevents accurate measurement of blood pressure. This process of detecting an artifact can be conveniently implemented as an interruption routine of a microprocessor. When such an artifact is detected, a warning signal may be issued and the cuff may be rapidly vented so that the renewed measurement can be carried out without any further ado.

  • Patent number: 4862895
Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic blood pressure meter which is adapted to measure blood pressure from a finger. A cuff for applying pressure to the finger comprises a plurality of chambers which are communicated to each other and, thereby, provides a sufficient flexibility to closely conform to the contour of the finger. A sensor for detecting pulse wave data may be conveniently place on the inner surface of the cuff and is adapted to detect the reflection of light by an artery. Further, an air buffer can increase the effective air volume of the cuff and can reduce the rate of the pressure drop of the air cuff for a given rate of air vent from the cuff. By deriving the pulse wave data and computing the systolic and diastolic blood pressure therefrom in the course of increasing the air pressure of the cuff, the discomfort to the patient whose blood pressure is to measured can be substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 4861974
Abstract: A card conveying appartaus is arranged between the right and left frames. A card one-sided setting member is swingably attached to one of the frames. This card one-sided setting member is obliquely held by a spring toward the side of the other frame. When a card is conveyed by the conveying apparatus, the card is pressed to the side of the other frame by the one-sided setting member, so that the position is restricted. The one-sided setting member is returned to the side of one frame by the card. The returned one-sided setting member is detected by one sensor. A detection signal of this sensor functions as a card detection signal indicating that the card is being conveyed.
