Publication number: 20240204219Abstract: A multiple fuel cell thermal management system controls a proportional mixing valve, heat exchanger bypass valves, fan speeds, and pump speeds of respective coolant circuits and associated fuel-cell stacks to operate the stacks independently or in combination. When vehicle wheel loads are low or in applications with standby fuel-cell stacks, selected stacks are turned off. During moderate loads or high ambient temperature, the working fuel cell cooling system(s) operates in parasitic load reduction mode, using the non-working cooling circuit(s) as a heat sink running the associated pump at low speed and throttling the proportional mixing valve such that efficient cooling is accomplished in the running circuit with less fan power required than if the non-working circuit is completely shut down. A heat exchanger bypass valve and fan speed are controlled to provide a target stack inlet temperature. Pump speed is controlled responsive to a stack inlet/outlet temperature difference.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2022Publication date: June 20, 2024Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Hassan FARHAT, Ravi GOPAL, Yixin YAO

Publication number: 20240205685Abstract: Described herein are techniques to ensure a user using an external device is authorized to connect and connecting to a correct implantable medical device using a wireless communication protocol. A request for authorization is sent to the external device from the implantable medical device, and the authorization can be provided by an authorization pulse sent using the implantable medical device charger over the inductive link between the charging device and the implanted device. The authorization pulse can be trusted because the inductive link is short range, ensuring the patient is aware of the connection to the implanted device. Once the implanted device receives the authorization pulse, it may finalize the pairing over the first connection.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2024Publication date: June 20, 2024Applicant: Verily Life Sciences LLCInventors: Michael Andrew Caruso, Adam Bildersee, Nehal Patel, James Salvia, Arvind Govindaraj
