Abstract: A virtual image display system for displaying virtual images having expanded resolution and field of view is disclosed. The virtual image display system comprises a first light emitter emitting a plurality of first light signals to be projected into a viewer's eye; a first light direction modifier varying a light direction of the plurality of first light signals emitted from the first light emitter. The light direction of first light signals is varied at a first scan rate with respect to time within a first spatial range for displaying a first image frame with a predetermined number of light signals and the first scan rate is non-constant.
Abstract: The technology relates to controlling a vehicle in an autonomous driving mode. For example, sensor data identifying a plurality of objects may be received. Pairs of objects of the plurality of objects may be identified. For each identified pair of objects of the plurality of objects, a similarity value which indicates whether the objects of that identified pair of objects can be responded to by the vehicle as a group may be determined. The objects of one of the identified pairs of objects may be clustered together based on the similarity score. The vehicle may be controlled in the autonomous mode by responding to each object in the cluster in a same way.
Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and computer program products are described for providing content recommendations to a requestor. In implementations, user event records associated with media items and content types may be stored, for instance, in an event catalog. A set of user scores may be generated based on a user-content score model and the user event records, where each generated user score represents an affinity between a user and a corresponding content type of the plurality of content types. A set of title scores may also be generated for a media item based on a title-content score model, where each generated title score represents an affinity between the media item and a corresponding content type. In response to a request, the sets of scores may be combined to generate a set of content recommendations to provide to the requestor.

Abstract: A peak detector comprises multiple small-size amplitude detection circuits coupled in parallel to signal inputs at which a signal is received from a VCO. Each amplitude detection circuit generates a voltage on an output, indicating a voltage peak or amplitude of a first signal input and a second signal input (specifically, differential output of VCO). At a given time, only one small-size amplitude detection circuit is activated to load VCO, reducing the impact on LC resonant frequency. The plurality of small-size detection circuits work sequentially, and an automatic averaging of their outputs can significantly improve the peak detector fluctuation (caused by process variation and device mismatch) compared to each single small-size amplitude detection circuit.

Abstract: A locking pin tool to facilitate removal and/or installation of locking pins of a well head assembly includes an elongated shaft and a jaw assembly configured for engaging an end of a locking pin. A hammer body is mounted on the shaft and is movable along the shaft. A hammer stop provided on the shaft engages the hammer body to absorb a striking force from the hammer body as the hammer body is moved along the shaft towards the hammer stop. By moving the hammer body along the shaft, the hammer strikes the hammer stop to impart a force on the locking pin to facilitate removal or installation of the locking pin.

Abstract: A system for processing material has a power supply and a machine having a hopper for receiving and passing material to an auger. The auger has a shaft with an axis about which it rotates, a helical flighting mounted to the shaft, pins mounted to the helical flighting, and paddles mounted to the shaft. The radial outer edge of the helical flighting is crenelated with periodic notches that form rectangular blades on the helical flighting. The pins are rotationally and angularly aligned with leading edges of the rectangular blades. The system may include a vehicle, such as a trailer, having first and second compartments separated by a partition. The power supply is located in the first compartment and has a power supply member extending though the partition. The machine is located in the second compartment and coupled to the power supply member.

Abstract: A ball bat includes outer shell segments longitudinally spaced apart from each other to form a gap between them. A joint connects the segments. A first outer shell segment may include a barrel portion of the ball bat and at least part of a tapered portion of the ball bat. Abstract: A preform configured to form a carbonated beverage container. The preform includes a finish defining an opening. A body portion of the preform extends from the finish. An outer portion of the base layer has an outer surface at an outer bottle side of the preform. A passive CO2 barrier layer is between the inner portion and the outer portion of the base layer. The passive CO2 barrier layer extends along the body portion to the bottom portion, and across the bottom portion. The passive CO2 barrier layer is arranged closer to the inner surface than the outer surface to increase the shelf-life of carbonated products.

Abstract: Surgical tools which are used to separate from one another a femoral cup and an acetabular ball in an implanted hip replacement prosthesis. At its distal end, elements of the surgical tool engage the femoral cup and the acetabular cup. When proximal handles of the tool are squeezed toward one another, the engagement elements move away from one another. Thus, a surgeon is able to separate the femoral cup and the acetabular ball from one another without pulling the acetabular cup away from the acetabulum or the femoral cup and/or femoral implant away from the femur, thereby accomplishing the separation without disrupting any bone ingrowth.
