A method of forming the form includes arranging the plurality of separate linear fiber strips on a substrate and tacking the plurality of separate linear fiber strips to the substrate with a plurality of stitches. A method of forming a unitary reinforced composite component from the form is further provided. The resulting component having high strength and light weight and being efficient to manufacture.
Abstract: An example system and method may provide a location-enabled collectable trading tool. An example system may receive, by a graphical user interface displayed on a first client device, initial collection attributes describing an item collection, where the item collection is associated with a first user in a database stored in a computer-accessible memory. The system may also determine an attribute of an item associated with the item collection and determine a trade eligibility of the item. In some instances, the system may identify a second user based on the attribute, the trade eligibility of the item, and an attribute of the second user. The system may then automatically provide communication between the first client device and a second client device associated with the identified second user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for visualization of a surgical site are disclosed. An imaging device provides image data of the surgical site. A computing device detects, in the image data, at least one obstruction. The computing device filters the image data to remove the at least one obstruction by being configured to alter pixels related to the at least one obstruction based on at least one of (i) one or more buffered frames and (ii) one or more pixels adjacent to the pixels related to the at least one obstruction. The computing device generates an output from the filtered image data. A display device presents the output for visualization of the surgical site.
Abstract: A coated tow includes a fiber bundle composed of continuous reinforcement fibers that form a flat substrate in a ribbon shape and a thermoplastic-based overcoating applied to the flat substrate to form a uni-directional tape. An extruded tape includes a plurality of cords of twisted fiber yarns each composed of continuous reinforcement fibers, a thermoplastic overcoating applied to each of the cords, and a high density polyethylene (HDPE) that encases the plurality of cords to form a uni-directional tape. The reinforcement fibers have continuous filaments aligned lengthwise along a length each of the cords. A process of producing the coated tow or extruded tape includes feeding one or more spools of continuous fiber tow under tension control, sinking the continuous fiber tow in a chemical bath, passing the wetted continuous fiber tow through one or more squeezing rollers, and passing the continuous fiber tow through an oven.

Abstract: A fiber preform for use in a resin transfer molding or liquid composite molding process and process of making the same are provided. The preform includes a substrate, a fiber bundle arranged on the substrate in a predetermined pattern and attached to the substrate by a plurality of stitches of a thread. The fiber preform is capable of being pre-formed into a three-dimensional shape. The fiber preform along with a sheet of preformed thermoset resin that impregnates at least a portion of the fiber preform forms a composite material. The fiber preform reinforces areas of stress concentration of a core to form a vehicle component.
Abstract: A wall connection system is disclosed, which includes a horizontal building frame component with a first vertical face that has a first slot. The system further includes a prefabricated wall structure with a plurality of parallel studs and an elongate member connect to each stud. The elongate member has a second vertical face with a second slot and is parallel to the first vertical face. The long axis of the first slot is perpendicular to the long axis of the second slot. A fastener assembly connects the horizontal building frame component to the wall structure, through the slots.

Abstract: A method, computer system, and computer program product are provided for assessing a credit risk of a set of companies. A computer system creates a training data set from distance-to-default values for a first set of companies. The computer system builds a set of predictive models based on the training data set, linking the observed distance-to-default to market capitalization and total liabilities. The computer system forecasts estimated new distance-to-default values for a second set of companies, based on their current distance-to-default (obtained from the Merton approach), and a future change in market capitalization and/or change in total liabilities, according to the set of predictive models.

Abstract: A wastewater treatment method applicable to new or existing enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) treatment process designs which utilize the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) process activated sludge process treatment tanks. The method improves the performance and efficiency in the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater to remove phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N). The method includes ceasing reaction cycles when a derivative of rate of change of the input flow volume of the air stream into the tank needed to maintain a low-range of dissolved oxygen (DO), in which an oxidation reduction potential (ORP) setpoint reaches a derivative value indicating that conversion of the ammonia nitrogen in the influent wastewater content to a nitrite or to a nitrate is complete.
