  • Publication number: 20040179552
Abstract: A communication apparatus and a communication device that are selectively connectable to each other. A transmitter, associated with one of the communication apparatus and the communication device, transmits a first predetermined signal, such as, for example, an MS signal, to designate a specific mode to the other one of the communication apparatus and the communication device. The first predetermined signal includes an identification field that stores modulation independent information and a standard information field that stores modulation dependent information. A receiver receives a second predetermined signal, such as, for example, an ACK signal or a NACK signal, in response to the first predetermined signal from the other one of the communication apparatus and the communication device.

  • Patent number: 6785018
Abstract: A POP access section accesses a POP3 server using a first user ID/password registered in a user ID registration table, fetches message information from a mailbox of the user ID, and stores it to RAM. A message information extracting section extracts necessary information from the message information, and stores it to be associated with the user ID. Thereafter, a reception list generating section reads message information of all user IDs from RAM, and generates a reception list. Sequentially, the reception list generating section outputs the generated reception list. A user, who has seen the reception list, instructs the POP access section to fetch an e-mail message from a panel control section. This improves communication concealment.

  • Patent number: 6781721
Abstract: A facsimile apparatus is connected to a telephone network and to an internet network. The facsimile apparatus is capable of receiving E-mail data via the internet network and transmitting facsimile data to a facsimile destination via the telephone network. A detector detects a password indicating an instruction to relay the received E-mail data to the facsimile destination, and a telephone number of the facsimile destination, in a mail address of the E-mail data. A generator, when the detector detects the password and the telephone number, deletes the password from the mail address, and generates header information including a mail address after deleting the password. A converter converts the E-mail data, including the header information, into facsimile data. A transmitter transmits the converted facsimile data with the header information, but without the password to the facsimile destination indicated by the telephone number.

  • Patent number: 6775711
Abstract: An input value from a panel is analyzed by mail address analyze means. A determination section performs determination based on the analysis result. When an identification character “@” is detected in the input value, the determination section instructs an encryption processing section to execute encryption processing, which is made to correspond to the identification character “@”. A mail transmitting section transmits data subjected to encryption processing in accordance with an e-mail transfer protocol. An operator has only to add the identification character “@” to a recipient address from the panel so that an image communication apparatus executes encryption processing. This eliminates the need for adding a new button when a new function is added to the image communication apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6771832
Abstract: Error addition section 201 generates correction data by adding correction value Emo and correction value E1 to the input data. Binary processing section 202 converts the correction data to binary data to generate output data. Binary error calculation section 203 calculates binary error E based on the correction data and output data. Propagation coefficient judgment section 204 judges propagation coefficients K1 to K4. Propagation error operation section 205 operates on binary error E and propagation coefficients K1 to K4 to calculate correction value E1 and correction value Emi. Error memory 206 temporarily stores correction value Emi, and outputs it to error addition section 201 when the pixel data to be corrected is input.

  • Publication number: 20040118308
Abstract: Provided is a printing plate comprising a substrate and a hydrophilic porous layer formed on a surface of the substrate. Typically, the substrate is made of aluminum plate, and the porous substrate consists of an anodized layer. Owing to the porous nature of the surface of the printing plate, the imaging resin deposited on the surface of the printing plate seeps into the printing plate and is thereby securely anchored to the printing plate so that an adequate bonding force between the imaging resin and printing plate can be ensured. Also, by suitably controlling the amount of the imaging resin that seeps or penetrates into the porous layer, an adequate thickness of the imaging resin on the surface of the printing plate can be ensured, and this also contributes to the wear resistance of the printing plate.
