Abstract: Some embodiments described herein relate to optical systems and methods for determining the shape and/or size of objects that include projecting a pattern of light onto the object. The pattern of light can be configured such that first-order reflections can be distinguished from second- and/or higher-order reflections, which can be rejected. Thus, even in instances in which the pattern of light is reflected onto the object multiple times, the original, or first-order, reflection can be detected, distinguished, and/or used for laser triangulation. In some embodiments, a pattern of light that does not have reflection and/or rotational symmetry is projected onto the object, such that second-order and/or higher-order reflections can be distinguished from the first-order reflection.

Abstract: A system and method of capturing and rendering stereoscopic panoramic content is provided. The system may capture information from a virtual scene to generate a stereoscopic panorama in the form of a stereoscopic cube map. Using the pre-captured cube map, the system may render stereoscopic images during gameplay, image viewing, and/or playback of a three dimensional video. The system may capture camera distance information during capture for use in distortion reduction during image rendering and playback. The system may implement additional distortion reduction measures. Further, the system may use the capture camera distance information to write to depth buffers corresponding to rendered images for use when introducing dynamic gameplay elements into the scene. Additionally, the system may use realistic camera models to simulate human anatomy and reduce distortions associated with simplistic camera models.
Abstract: A consumer premise equipment (CPE) which may comprise a processor, a storage medium, and an antenna, wherein the processor may be operatively coupled to the storage medium and the antenna to receive, from multiple antennas of a hub station, a first beam training announcement signal that may inform the CPE to be ready to receive a beam training packet using one or more beams, wherein the beam training packet may include a plurality of symbols that are each beamformed using a different beamformer or precoder; and send, to the hub station, a beamforming feedback report based on measurements taken by the CPE, possibly as a result of the CPE receiving the first beam training announcement signal.
Abstract: Provided herein are therapeutic oligonucleotides that comprise at least one p-ethoxy backbone linkage but no more than 80% p-ethoxy backbone linkages. Provided herein are improved delivery systems for therapeutic oligonucleotides comprising a liposome that comprises neutral phospholipids and a p-ethoxy oligonucleotide that is entrapped in the liposome.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for automatically scoring a game of darts. The method involves obtaining an image of a dartboard (2) using three cameras (10), detecting a visual disturbance in the image, and identifying a validly thrown dart if the visual disturbance includes a moving phase with a maximum temporal duration and successive images of the dartboard which exhibit differences. The visual disturbance should also include a stationary phase when the dart has been embedded in the dartboard (2). The method also includes calculating a score for the validly thrown dart based on its stationary position relative to the dartboard. A lighting system for a dartboard is also disclosed where a LED strip light (14) is provided around a circumference of the dartboard and three spotlights (8) are provided above the dartboard.
Abstract: A system configured to forecast human behavior is provided. The system includes a memory storing information descriptive of a set of content including a plurality of elements, at least one processor coupled to the memory, and a plurality of components executable by at least one processor. The plurality of components include a mapping engine configured to retrieve the information associated with the set of content from the memory and generate a data space representative of relationships between the plurality of elements, a compression component configured to generate a customer compression representative of a behavior of at least one customer within the data space, a persuasion engine configured to identify at least one customer trajectory through the data space associated with the at least one customer based on at least the customer compression, and an interface component configured to provide output describing the at least one customer trajectory.

Abstract: A social networking system receives information regarding an activity performed by a user of the social networking system. A determination is made as to whether an activity trigger is satisfied based on the received information. Responsive to a determination that the trigger is satisfied, additional content regarding the activity is requested from the user.
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed that performs a measurement of the acoustic reflex. In contrast to prior art, more than one probe tone is used simultaneously to detect the acoustic reflex and separate the reflex response from artifacts. In a preferred configuration, at least one probe tone frequency is selected to be higher than the middle ear resonance frequency.
Abstract: When the user requests a contact interface, the messaging module displays a contact interface that includes multiple rows. Each row includes a contact interface element that is associated with a contact with which the user has or is exchanging messages. From the contact interface the user can request to transmit a shortcut message to a contact from a set of predefined shortcut messages. Each shortcut message is predefined in that the content to be included in the message is already set. The user indicates the shortcut message to transmit to a contact by shifting the content interface element associated with the contact in a horizontal direction. When the user ends the shifting of the contact interface element, the messaging module automatically transmits a shortcut message to the contact based on the magnitude of the shift performed by the user.

Abstract: A user's user device includes a messaging module that allows the user to communicate with its contacts through a messaging system. The messaging module also allows the user to access a status interface that includes a feed with multiple status items. Each status item indicates current information associated with a contact of the user. The status items are received by the messaging module from the messaging system. The messaging system creates the status items based on device information automatically provided to the system by user devices. One or more of the status items received by the messaging module are customized by the module after they are received from the messaging system and before they are presented to the user in the status interface. The status items are customized based information associated with the user.
