Abstract: A batteryless, chipless, sensor is disclosed which includes a substrate, at least two conductive strips disposed on the substrate, a passivation layer encasing the substrate and the at least two conductive strips, wherein the conductive strips are adapted to respond to an interrogation signal from a reader having a first polarization, with a response signal at a second polarization different than the first polarization.

Abstract: An apparatus for analyzing a plant specimen is disclosed which includes a housing assembly adapted to be in i) an open configuration adapted to receive a plant specimen, and ii) a closed configuration wherein ambient light is controlled therein, a light source disposed in or coupled to the housing assembly, the light source adapted to shine light onto or through the plant specimen when the housing assembly is in the closed configuration, and a camera assembly coupled to the housing assembly, the camera assembly having an image sensor adapted to receive light from the plant specimen in i) a transmittance mode where light transmits through the plant specimen, or ii) a reflectance mode where light is reflected from the plant specimen, the image sensor adapted to thereby capture hyperspectral images of the plant specimen.

Abstract: A laser beam steering system is disclosed. The system includes a laser source which produces a pulsed laser light beam with a frequency comb spectrum, a metasurface configured to i) receive the pulsed laser, ii) generate a diffracted pulsed laser output at different frequencies with a beam at a center frequency normal to the metasurface, and iii) directing light at different frequencies onto different foci at a focal plane, light propagating from the focal plane leads to generation of one or more optical beams that are controlled in space and time.

Abstract: A photon entanglement system is disclosed which includes a plurality of remote nodes (Nodes Ai and Node Bi) each without a quantum memory; and a central entangling node (Node C) in both quantum and classical communication with the remote Nodes configured to provide photon entanglement therebetween, and includes a first and second broadband photon generators each adapted to generate sets of photon pairs at: i) random times within time-bins, and ii) random frequency bins, wherein one photon of each pair set is transmitted to an associated remote node over quantum channels, and a multiplexed Bell-state analyzer configured to receive another photon of the pair, wherein if the received photons arrive at about same time, then the received photons are marked as being entangled by the controller which communicates the associated time-bin to the associated remote nodes and thereby entangling their associated photons.
Abstract: A piezoelectric structure is disclosed which includes a single crystal having piezoelectric coefficients d31 and d32 of opposite magnitude, such that when an alternating electric field is applied in the Z direction, the piezoelectric structure expands in one of the X and Y directions and contracts in the other of the X and Y direction, a first electrode coupled to the single crystal, and a second electrode coupled to the single crystal, wherein the alternating electric field is input to the single crystal through the first and second electrodes.
Abstract: The invention generally relates to methods and devices for synchronization of ion generation with cycling of a discontinuous atmospheric interface. In certain embodiments, the invention provides a system for analyzing a sample that includes a mass spectrometry probe that generates sample ions, a discontinuous atmospheric interface, and a mass analyzer, in which the system is configured such that ion formation is synchronized with cycling of the discontinuous atmospheric interface.

Abstract: A method of operating a multi-coil magnetic resonance imaging system, is disclosed which includes establishing initial circuit values of a drive circuit, loading a tissue model associated with a tissue to be imaged, loading target values for a variable of interest (VOI) associated with operation of two or more coils of a magnetic resonance imaging system, performing a simulation based on the established circuit values and the loaded tissue model, determining output values of the VOI based on the simulation, comparing the simulated output values of the VOI to the loaded target values of the VOI, if the simulated output values are outside of a predetermined envelope about the loaded target values of the VOI, then performing a first optimization until the simulated output values are within the predetermined envelope.

Abstract: Some examples provides a set of frameworks, process and methods aimed at enabling the expression and exploration of free-form and parametric 3D shape designs enabled through natural interactions with a hand-held mobile device acting as a controller for 3D virtual objects. A reference plane in a virtual space generated by the location of the mobile device may be used to select a 3D virtual object intersected by the reference plane. Positioning of the mobile device may also be used to control a pointer in the virtual space. In an example, the orientation of the mobile device may be detected by an accelerometer or gyroscope. In example, the position of the mobile device may be detected by a position sensor.
Abstract: A system and methods for machine anomaly and behavior classification is provided. An audio capture device may attach to a mechanical apparatus comprising a first component and a second component. The first component and second component may separately generate audible noise. The audio capture device may generate a signal in response audio caused by the vibrating diagram. The system may receive the signal generated by the microphone of the audio capture device. The system may determine, based on a machine learning model and the signal, an anomalous event associated with the first component, a second component, or a combination thereof. Alternatively, or in addition, the system may classify operation of the machine based on second machine learning model.

Abstract: A method of making carbon sheets comprising nanosized metal particle. The method includes dissolving sodium chloride, a salt containing the metal, and glucose into water, maintaining weight ratio weight of sodium chloride to glucose in the range of 1-8, resulting in a homogeneous aqueous solution. The homogeneous aqueous solution is then dried to form a homogeneous powder which is then heated for a time period resulting in a composite comprising carbon sheets containing the sodium chloride and nanoparticles of the metal. The sodium chloride is removed resulting in carbon sheets containing nanoparticles of the metal. A carbon sheet with 2D morphology containing nanosized metal particles. An electrode comprising a carbon sheet with 2D morphology containing nanosized metal particles. Abstract: The present disclosure provides processes and apparatuses for the scaled-up manufacture of lomustine via continuous flow manufacture. Such continuous flow processes may optionally include the crystallization of lomustine and the apparatuses may optionally include crystallization apparatuses/reactors in either batch or continuous flow design. In one aspect of the disclosure, a process for making lomustine is provided comprising treating solutions of 2-chloroethylisocyanate with a solution of cyclohexylamine with continuous-flow pumps in a gram-flow reactor to form a combined solution, adding deionized water with a continuous flow-pump to the combined solution to form a liquid-organic phase solution, extracting the organic phase from the solution and treating with a solution of t-butyl nitrite with a continuous flow pump in a gram flow reactor to form lomustine.
