Abstract: A microfine light source is provided by a non-spherical particle containing a dye, which is irradiated with a laser beam under conditions that the particle emits light at a plurality of frequencies. A micromemory sensor which employs the light confinement properties of these non-spherical particles is also provided. The microfine light source is applicable to new physical and chemical processes, the processing and modification of particles, and to photon STM.

Abstract: This isometric/isotonic exercise and physical therapy system is based on a series of elongated exercise rods made of urethane or other resilient, elastomeric resin that is both bendable and twistable. The exercise or therapy afforded by the system depends on the resilient exercise rod or rods; for a relatively limp, low-resistance rod the exercise is essentially isotonic, but with stiffer rods isometric exercise or therapy is provided. The system includes devices that mount the rod or rods on the person using the system for varied exercises of the knee, elbow, hip, wrist, back, or virtually any other portion of the user's anatomy.
Abstract: A fibrin glue includes a fibrinogen component and a thrombin component, both prepared from single donor plasma. The plasma is precipitated to produce a precipitate containing fibrinogen and a supernatant containing the thrombin. The precipitate may be resuspended in a small volume of supernatant and used as the fibrinogen component. The supernatant is further treated by clotting to convert residual fibrinogen to fibrin and filtration to remove the fibrin. The resulting serum can be used as the thrombin component.

Abstract: A baseball bat or the like comprises a tube formed with an outer layer of cellulose material covering a layer of fiber reinforced resin, with the tube layers being impregnated with and bonded to one another with a cured resin. The outer layer of the bat consists of one or more strips or sheets of cellulose material such as paper or wood. Cellulose fibers tend to stretch when deformed by the ball impact so as to spread the impact over a number of fibers and exhibit a high compressive strength. Therefore, they may be effectively utilized as the outer layer of the bat. The tube preferably has a foam core including a central cavity lined with a layer of fiber reinforced resin, said core having sufficient resiliency to allow the tube to resiliently deform during impact with a baseball. Bat performance may further be improved by adding an internal layer of fiber reinforced resin to the interior of the foamed core.
