Abstract: The invention relates to carrier complexes and methods for delivering molecules to cells. The carrier complexes comprises a molecule and an aromatic cationic peptide in accordance with the invention. In one embodiment, the method for delivering a molecule to a cell comprises contacting the cell with a carrier complex. In another embodiment, the method for delivering a molecule to a cell comprises contacting the cell with a molecule and an aromatic cationic peptide.

Abstract: Provided is a novel Nanofiltration-DiaNanofiltration (NF-DiaNF) system and method for extracting divalent ions from saline water (e.g., seawater) to produce solutions rich in divalent ions (in particular Mg2+, Ca2+ and SO42?), while minimizing the concentrations of undesirable species (e.g., Cl?, Br?, B and Na+). Abstract: Power train architectures with low-loss lubricant bearings and low-density materials are disclosed. The gas turbine used in these architectures can include a compressor section, a turbine section, and a combustor section. A generator, coupled to the rotor shaft, is driven by the turbine section. The compressor section, the turbine section, and the generator each include rotating components, at least one of the rotating components in at least one of the compressor section, the turbine section, and the generator including a low-density material. Bearings support the rotor shaft within the compressor section, the turbine section and the generator, wherein at least one of the bearings is a low-loss bearing having a low-loss lubricant.

Abstract: Herein provided is a new soybean variety designated ‘G13LL-44’ as well as the seeds, plants and derivatives of the new soybean variety ‘G13LL-44’. Also provided are tissue cultures of the new soybean variety ‘G13LL-44’ and the plants regenerated therefrom. Methods for producing soybean plants by crossing the new soybean variety ‘G13LL-44’ with itself or another soybean variety and plants produced by such methods are also provided. ‘G13LL-44’ is a MG VII line with glufosinate tolerance technology, and with resistance to race 3 of the soybean cyst nematode and frogeye leaf spot, and moderate resistance to southern root-knot nematode. ‘G13LL-44’ yielded 1.4 bu/ac (2.3%) greater than its recurrent parent ‘G00-3213’, across 11 environments and 0.5 bu/ac more than the high-yielding check cultivar ‘AG738 RR’. ‘G13LL-44’ provides a high yielding glufosinate tolerant soybean cultivar with superior nematode resistance.

Abstract: The present invention provides a remediation method for degradation of cadmium in soil. The specific steps are as follows: step 1, determining the content of cadmium in the soil; step 2, crushing and sieving soil from a soil surface, and weighing; step 3, wetting the soil, and removing part of cadmium in the soil to obtain semi-remediated soil; step 4, mixing the semi-remediated soil with a remediation agent, and allowing to stand to obtain improved soil; and step 5, planting Bidens pilosa in the improved soil, and when a growing season is finished, uprooting, and ashing to obtain finished soil. The present invention utilizes anode and cathodes and a remediation agent to treat the cadmium contaminated soil, and plants Bidens pilosa in the soil to achieve a joint effect of electrodynamic remediation, chemical remediation, microbial remediation and phytoremediation to remediate the cadmium contaminated soil.

For example, this document provides improved electrodes for stimulating and sensing electrical activity of the heart, and provides pacing and resynchronization systems incorporating such electrodes. Abstract: Disclosed are methods of treating kidney disease, infectious or inflammatory diseases, acute kidney injury and hypertension by administering a (pro)renin receptor (PRR) antagonist. In some instances the PRR antagonist is a polypeptide. The PRR antagonist can be a polypeptide having at least 70% identity to the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:2. Also disclosed are methods of decreasing proteinuria and methods of promoting wound healing by administering a PRR antagonist.
Abstract: Overhead lifts with control systems are disclosed. The overhead lifts may include a lift actuator communicatively coupled to a control system. The control system may include a control unit comprising a processor and a memory having computer readable and executable instructions and at least one port for communicatively coupling the control unit to at least one of a computer, a network, and a data storage device. The processor executes the computer readable and executable instructions to: determine at least one operating characteristic of the overhead lift and an operating time of the overhead lift as the overhead lift is actuated; determine an accumulated load-time parameter for the overhead lift based on the at least one operating characteristic and the operating time; and provide an indication that a component of the overhead lift requires service based on the comparison of the accumulated load-time parameter to a service constant.
Abstract: A mounting device for a consumer grade controller that allows for installation in an industrial application with reliability improvement features. The consumer grade controller is mounted to the mounting device using screws and standoffs, which securely fasten the consumer grade controller to the mounting device. The mounting device is compatible with an industry standard DIN rail allowing for easy installation and removal. The mounting device positions the consumer grade controller vertically with respect to the DIN rail to provide improved cooling and reduce DIN rail space. A power cable is secured with a built-in strain relief feature and held in place with a tie wrap to maintain pressure on the cable and preventing it from accidentally releasing. The mounting device, standoffs, and strain relief feature can be injected molded in one assembly for low cost manufacturing while still providing all the benefits that an industrial application requires.
Abstract: Non-naturally occurring peptides are provided that act as a Src SH2 domain antagonist of cardiotonic steroids. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising the peptides are also provided along with vectors encoding the peptides. Methods of treating a Src-associated disease and reducing Src activity in a cell are further provided and include administering or contacting a cell with an effective amount of the peptide.
