Abstract: A system for providing discharge monitoring of a firearm includes a first sensor, a trigger pull sensor assembly, an event detection module and a display. The first sensor senses a first acceleration along a first axis and sends a first input signal. The trigger pull sensor assembly senses mechanical movement of a trigger of the firearm, and communicates a second input signal corresponding to a position of the trigger. The event detection module receives the first input signal and compares the first acceleration to an acceleration threshold indicative of a shot; receives the second input signal and determines whether the second input signal is satisfies a second threshold indicative of a shot; determines whether a discharge has occurred based on both the first signal satisfying the acceleration threshold and the second input signal satisfying the second threshold; and generates an event detection signal based on the determination.

Abstract: Web-based opinion survey method, apparatus, and computer-readable media operable to cause propositional function responses to be provided to a survey server from a client device. The propositional functions are P(x), where P and x are the predicate and subject. Each P(x) is evaluated in the client device for subjects, each with a different x. Preferably, the client device displays the subjects within a Web Single Page Application (SPA) running on the client device. Preferably, the SPA displays a nonnumerical scale, the granularity of which is directly proportional to the number of pixels spanned by the scale. For each P(x), the client device displays labeled markers along the scale, to provide an indication of a level of agreement with the expressed P(x). For each P(x) subject, the client expresses an opinion on a position on the scale, whereby a pixel position corresponds to a rating for the selected subject.

Abstract: System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to improving the detection of traffic lights associated with a driving lane using a camera instead of map data. In one embodiment, a method includes estimating, from an image using a first model, depth and orientation information of traffic lights relative to a driving lane of a vehicle. The method also includes computing, using a second model, relevancy scores for the traffic lights according to geometric inferences between the depth and the orientation information. The method also includes assigning, using the second model, a primary relevancy score for a light of the traffic lights associated with the driving lane according to the depth and the orientation information. The method also includes executing a control task by the vehicle according to the primary relevancy score and a state confidence, computed by the first model, for the light.

Abstract: A system and a method for computing the relative rotation and the relative translation of back-to-back cameras comprise: a fixed mode and an adjustment mode. In the fixed mode, a reversible external camera is installed next to the back-to-back cameras, the external camera is flipped to shoot a calibration pattern from different positions and angles, the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of each camera are computed, and then a reverse calculation is performed on the extrinsic parameters, as such the amount of translation and rotation of the back-to-back cameras are obtained. When the relative angle of the back-to-back cameras changes, the angle is automatically detected and the extrinsic parameters of the camera computed at the fixed mode is modified, and then the reverse calculation is performed on the extrinsic parameters to adjust the amount of translation and rotation of the back-to-back cameras.

Abstract: The system extracts water from lunar regolith and includes a regolith intake having a digging bucket that collects lunar regolith soil and a gravel separator that separates and discharges gravel and passes a mixture of ice-regolith powder having ice grains that are about 10-100 microns along the conveyor. A pneumatic separator receives the ice-regolith powder and pneumatically splits the ice-regolith powder into streams of different sized lithic fragments and ice particles per the ratio of inertial force and aerodynamic drag force of the lithic fragments and ice particles. Each split stream may include a magnetic separator that separates further the magnetic and paramagnetic lithic fragments from ice particles to discharge up to 80 percent of lithic fragments to slag.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for preventing headwind debris from collecting on travel direction-facing housing surfaces of a vehicle by creating protective “air cushions” in front of the travel direction-facing housing surfaces. These air cushions may divert headwind air away from the travel direction-facing housing surfaces, ensuring that headwind debris does not collect on them. Examples may create these protective air cushions by propelling high pressure air through perforated surfaces in a contrary direction to headwind.
