Abstract: Disclosed herein is a process for the conversion of polymers, oligomers, or mixtures thereof into shorter alkanes, carboxylic acids, alcohols, alkyl halides or aldehydes. This process includes contacting the polymers, oligomers, or mixtures thereof with the compound of formula (I): Al(R1)3??(I) where R1 is independently selected at each occurrence thereof from the group consisting of H, aryl, C1-C8 alkyl, and C1-C8 alkoxy, as a reaction mixture, in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of a transition metal catalyst, a lanthanide series metal catalyst, or combinations thereof.

Abstract: A drilling tool has an upstream drilling string, a downstream drilling bit, and a percussive device connected between the upstream drilling string and the downstream drilling bit. In a first state, the upstream drilling string is generated with elastic compression by the percussive device, and in a second state, the upstream drilling string releases the elastic compression to apply impacts on the downstream drilling bit through the percussive device. The drilling tool has a prolonged service life and can effectively reduce the drilling cost.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a sample holder on which a crystal sample for serial crystallography is mounted, or the like. Compared to an existing sample holder, the sample holder according to the present invention can be manufactured by a very simple manufacturing process and at low costs, and does not physically and chemically affect other equipment therearound while collecting X-ray diffraction data. Therefore, it is possible to stably operate a beam line, to increase beam time efficiency, and further to perform raster scanning so that many diffraction images can be obtained even in a small-sized chip. In addition, since the problem of evaporation of a crystallized solution does not occur even when the crystallized solution is stored in the air for a long time, the sample holder is generally easy to use compared to a previously reported sample holder.

Abstract: A case configured to receive a plurality of mechanical watch movements in the wound state, each movement being housed inside a compartment, configured to receive and maintain the movement according to a predefined orientation. In this position, the winding buttons of the movements are positioned facing respective microphones which are mounted inside the case. The microphones are configured such that they cancel the noises detected, such that the acoustic measurements of each of the movements are essentially not disturbed by the noises produced by the adjacent movements. Abstract: Lipid nanoparticles and compositions thereof are disclosed herein. An exemplary nanoparticle composition includes an ionizable lipid, a phospholipid, a PEG-lipid, and a cholesterol modified with a hydroxyl group near the D-sterol ring. The disclosed nanoparticle compositions can target liver Kupffer cells and endothelial cells more preferentially than hepatocytes which should be beneficial in treating liver diseases in which dysfunctional Kupffer cells and endothelial cells are involved in disease pathogenesis.
Abstract: A building loses or gains heat through its envelope based on the differential between the indoor and outdoor temperatures. The losses or gains are due to conduction and infiltration. Conventionally, these effects are typically estimated by performing an on-site energy audit. However, total thermal conductivity, conduction, and infiltration can be determined empirically. The number of air changes per hour are empirically measured using a CO2 concentration monitoring device, which enables the infiltration component of total thermal conductivity to be measured directly. The conduction component of thermal conductivity can then be determined by subtracting the infiltration component from the building's total thermal conductivity.
Abstract: A method of controlled production of luminescent diamond particles exhibiting luminescence in selected specific spectral ranges is provided. The method comprises taking diamond particles containing dopant atoms in the diamond core, irradiating the particles with high energy radiation, and annealing the irradiated diamond particles at a target temperature in the temperature range of about 1400° C.-2200° C. to form luminescent diamond particles where the specific spectral range of luminescence is controlled by the target temperature of the annealing process, the irradiation dose, and the type of dopant atoms. Duration of the annealing and the temperature ramp up and ramp down times should be short enough to minimize or prevent significant graphitization of the particles. Duration of the temperature ramp up time should be short enough to minimize formation of color centers that might form at temperatures below the target temperature.
