Abstract: A method for replicating and amplifying a target nucleic acid sequence is described. A method of the invention involves the formation of a recombination intermediate without the prior denaturing of a nucleic acid duplex through the use of a recombination factor. The recombination intermediate is treated with a high fidelity polymerase to permit the replication and amplification of the target nucleic acid sequence. In preferred embodiments, the polymerase comprises a polymerase holoenzyme. In further preferred embodiments, the recombination factor is bacteriophage T4 UvsX protein or homologs from other species, and the polymerase holoenzyme comprises a polymerase enzyme, a clamp protein and a clamp loader protein, derived from viral, bacteriophage, prokaryotic, archaebacterial, or eukaryotic systems.
Abstract: Provided are a carrier-enclosed transformable container, a carrier-enclosed transformable container processing apparatus, and a carrier-enclosed transformable container processing method about which a carrier to which various substances such as biogenic substances are bonded or bondable is held in a transformable container as the container to be in a substantially stationary state, thereby making it possible to make the handling of the carrier, measurement, and other treatments effective, speedy, and easy.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of managing data in an asymmetric cluster file system. In this method, if an OPEN request for the opening of an absent file has been received, a metadata server assigns a file handle value and a file name and then generates a file in a data server. Thereafter, the metadata server copies a file stored in the data server or the generated file to one or more data servers based on a preset copying level. Thereafter, a client performs a file operation on the files stored in the data servers.

Abstract: An earth model comprising a plurality of regions in geological space; associated with each said region in geological space, at least one parameter function defined over a region in parameter space; associated with each region in geological space, at least one transformation which maps coordinates within the region of geological space to coordinates within the region of parameter space. This gridless approach to earth modelling allows much easier alteration of the structural model and the parameter data independently of each other, facilitating multiresolution evaluation of the model as well as easy production of multiple geological interpretations.

Abstract: Colour information and transparency information of pixels of a source image, which may be a partially transparent overlay image of a format that natively support transparency, are stored as a transformed image. The transformed image is of a format that does not natively support transparency. The transformed image has two disjoint regions, one storing the source color information and the other storing the source transparency information. The transformed image can be used as a representation of the overlay image when compositing with a base image.
Abstract: The present invention features compositions and methods for the detection or measurement of oxalate in a sample. Such compositions include test devices that provide for the rapid and accurate detection of oxalate in a sample from a biological fluid. Advantageously, the compositions can be used to monitor the oxalate levels of a patient at a point of care (e.g., at the patient's home, clinic, physician's office, or other clinical setting).
