Abstract: A method and corresponding system for improving an interaction process in a social network for a user with at least one other person is provided. The method comprises a step of, in a training phase, acquiring sensor data on at least a user state and interaction data on a social interaction of a human person with the at least one other person. The acquired sensor data and the interaction data is then analyzed in order to generate classifier data from the acquired sensor data and the acquired interaction data. In a subsequent application phase, the method acquires current sensor data on at least the user state of the at least one other person, predicts an interaction score for the user based on the acquired current sensor data and the classifier data, and generates an interaction identifier for the user for an interaction with the at least one other person in the social network based on the predicted interaction score.

Abstract: Quantum network devices, systems, and methods are provided to enable long-distance transmission of quantum bits (qubits) for applications such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), entanglement distribution, and other quantum communication applications. Such systems and methods provide for separately storing first, second, third, and fourth photons, wherein the first and second photons and the third and fourth photons are respective first and second entangled photon pairs, triggering a synchronized retrieval of the stored first, second, third, and fourth photons such that the first photon is propagated to a first node, the second and third photons are propagated to a second node, and the fourth photon is propagated to a third node, and creating a new entangled pair comprising the first and fourth photons at the first and third nodes to transmit quantum information.

Abstract: Antibodies and antigen binding fragments thereof are provided that immunospecifically bind to PD-1, preferably human or mouse PD-1, and induce or promote an immune response that activates immune cell proliferation or activity. Contrary to the existing paradigm that PD-1 exclusively promotes a suppressive immune response, the disclosed antibodies and antigen binding fragments thereof, immunospecifically bind to PD-1 and cause an activating signal to be delivered to the immune cell that activates the immune cell rather than suppressing the immune cell. In one embodiment, the disclosed antibodies and antigen binding fragments thereof specifically bind to PD-1 expressed on immune cells. The binding of the disclosed antibodies and antigen binding fragments thereof to PD-1 on immune cells causes an activating signal to be transmitted into the immune cell, for example a signal that enhances or promotes cytokine production and/or activation of immune cell proliferation.

Abstract: A high-throughput screening methods for identifying candidate anticancer medicinal agents is described herein. The candidate anticancer medicinal agents are arylfluorosulfate compounds derived from phenolic compounds. The method involves in situ generation of the arylfluorosulfate compounds in multi-well plates by reaction of phenolic compounds in DMSO with a saturated solution of SO2F2 dissolved in a solvent such as acetonitrile, in the presence of an organic base, followed by reaction of generated fluoride ion with trimethylsilanol to form volatile trimethylsilyl fluoride. Solvents, organic base, and silyl compounds are then removed, in vacuo, to afford the arylfluorosulfate compounds suitable for biological screening in cancer cell lines without further purification.

Abstract: A new set of bench-stable fluoroalkylphosphines that directly convert C—H bonds in pyridine building blocks, drug-like fragments, and pharmaceuticals, into fluoroalkyl derivatives. No pre-installed functional groups or directing motifs are required. The reaction tolerates a variety of sterically and electronically distinct pyridines and is exclusively selective for the 4-position in most cases. The reaction proceeds via initial phosphonium salt formation followed by sp2-sp3 phosphorus ligand-coupling, an underdeveloped manifold for C—C bond formation.
