  • Patent number: 11782174
Abstract: A radiation detector (100) includes an insulating substrate (110), which includes a material that undergoes a change in an electrical property when subjected to ionizing radiation. A conductive film (112) is disposed in relation to a surface of the substrate. The conductive film (112) has a resistance that is a function of a state of the electrical property. A resistance measuring device measures resistance across the conductive film (112). The resistance measured by the resistance measuring device indicates an amount of ionizing radiation to which the substrate (110) has been subjected. In a method of determining exposure to a type of radiation, a boron nitride substrate is exposed to a radiation environment. A resistance is measured across a conductive film disposed in relation to the boron nitride substrate. Radiation exposure is calculated as a function of the resistance.

  • Publication number: 20230310701
Abstract: A DOPA-Gelatin is disclosed in which the monophenolic group of tyrosine, a prominent amino acid in porcine gelatin, is converted into a catechol group using an enzyme-based DOPA modification technique. The resulting DOPA-Gelatin has been discovered to exhibit good mechanical strength and adhesion. Moreover, in vitro studies show that DOPA-Gelatin has no cytotoxicity with HDF and HaCaT cells, two cells typically involved in the skin wound healing process. Further RT-PCR and angiogenesis investigation showed that DOPA-Gelatin can promote the expression of wound-related genes and facilitate neovascularization. In a full-thickness dorsal defect model in mice, DOPA-Gelatin treated groups decreased the wound closure time and enhanced hair follicle growth. These results demonstrate that the DOPA-Gelatin hydrogel compositions disclosed herein are an effective functional biomaterial that can potentiate the wound healing process.

  • Publication number: 20230318710
Abstract: A forward optical intensity modulation signal, generated by optical intensity-modulating a laser signal using a forward microwave phase modulation signal, is transmitted from a base to a remote station. A backward microwave phase modulation signal, in which frequency of the forward microwave phase modulation signal is changed by demodulating the forward optical intensity modulation signal, is generated, and a backward optical intensity modulation signal, generated by optical intensity-modulating the laser signal using the backward microwave phase modulation signal, is transmitted from the remote station to the base. The backward microwave phase modulation signal is extracted by photoelectric converting the backward optical intensity modulation signal, a round trip timing is extracted by demodulating the backward microwave phase modulation signal, and transmission delay is determined from a difference between the timing and the round trip timing.
