  • Patent number: 4548356
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines having a filter body inserted into the fuel inflow conduit, an injection valve and a check valve, which maintains a static pressure in the injection nozzle and can also perform a relief function for the prevention of after-injections. The check valve is integrated into the filter body thereby simplifying the final assembly of the injection nozzle. The filter body is advantageously embodied as a rod-type filter, which by the appropriate shaping of its jacket periphery forms gap-like spaces between itself and the surrounding wall of the nozzle holder through which spaces the fuel must pass such that it is deflected multiple times.

  • Patent number: 4547711
Abstract: A first regulating amplifier (7) provides a linearly increasing current to the horizontal deflection coil during the forward trace sweep and the amplifier is disconnected from the deflection coil and its parallel capacitor (2) during the retrace period to provide flyback by free reaction of the oscillating circuit. In order to shorten the retrace period an auxiliary coil (17) is energized with a regulated current during the forward trace sweep with the help of a second regulating amplifier (8) gated on during a preliminary portion of the line interval and a controllable voltage source (14) set thereby. During a first portion of the retrace interval currents flowing respectively in the auxiliary coil and in the horizontal deflection coil are stored in the capacitor (2), which discharges during the remainder of the retrace period only through the deflection coil.

  • Patent number: 4547816
Abstract: The magnitude of time-compression of audio signals recorded following the recording of video signals in the end portion of the same oblique track on magnetic tape is so related to the bit rate of recording of the video signals, in the recording of digital signals encoded in binary transmission codes, that the minimum interval between successive level changes in the audio signals is greater than the minimum interval between successive level changes in the video signal. This has the advantage of reducing the error rate in the audio signals in order to facilitate processing of digital signals of the audio information and of the video information in common processing channels, the minimum interval between successive level changes in the digital audio signals is made an integral multiple, preferably the double, of the minimum interval between successive level changes in the video signals.

  • Patent number: 4547718
Abstract: When the back of the movable front seat of a motor vehicle is folded down, and at the same time a door is opened for entering into the rear seat portion of the passenger compartment, the front seat is caused by a positioning system to move to a forward position. When the door in question is closed or when the front seat back is restored to normal position, whichever occurs first, the seat is caused to return to its original position. This convenience for entrance into or exit from the rear seat is combined into a positioning system for the front seat, which can also serve for other automatic adjustments.

  • Patent number: 4545240
Abstract: To determine aquaplaning or, in general, the adhesion factor of tires of a vehicle on a road surface, test braking pressure (p.sub.1, p.sub.2, p.sub.3, p.sub.4) is applied to a wheel or wheels, preferably the rolling wheels, of a vehicle. Wheel slip, that is, difference between deceleration of a wheel and deceleration of the vehicle is determined upon application of the test pressure, and an output signal is generated, indicated of wheel slippage, if a given wheel slip occurs at a test pressure below that which would be expected on a gripping or rough surface, so that wheel slippage with respect to the road surface is determined early. The test braking cycle can be initiated manually (switch 12) by an operator, from time to time, and, preferably, can be commanded automatically by an antibrake lock system (ABS, 10) by applying a braking pressure well below that required, for example, for vehicle operation under traffic conditions, and merely to determine wheel slippage.

  • Patent number: 4545354
Abstract: A fuel injection valve which serves to inject fuel in an internal combustion engine. The fuel injection valve includes a nozzle holder in which a nozzle body having an injection port is disposed. The injection port is opened by a closing body movable counter to the force of a closing spring in order to eject fuel. A gas guidance sheath encompasses the nozzle holder with a cylindrical portion and the nozzle body with a bottom portion and has at least one axially extending gas guidance conduit communicating with an air source. The gas guidance conduit leads to a gas ring conduit in the bottom portion. The nozzle step protrudes through the bottom portion and with the passageway opening thereof forms a throttling gas ring gap immediately above the injection port, so that fuel emerging from the injection port can immediately be enveloped by gas, such as air or exhaust gas, and thereby prepared.

  • Patent number: 4546400
Abstract: A method of protecting a plant for coating objects with charged particles as well as a method and apparatus for coating objects is proposed. The generation of an electric arc having a too high energy which can cause an ignition of the particles to be applied onto the object is prevented by applying a test high voltage between the object to be coated and the respective earth connection. An insulation occurring between the object to be coated and the respective earth connection and having a contact resistance smaller than a permitted maximum value is overcome by an arcthrough of lower energy. The current flowing in the closed circuit is measured for determining the contact resistance of the insulation so that the operation of the plant can be stopped when the actual value of the current is below a minimum value as in this case the insulation cannot be overcome by the arcthrough as its contact resistance is higher than the permitted maximum value.

  • Patent number: 4545530
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines having an inwardly opening valve needle (I nozzle) is proposed, in which an induction coil is disposed in the closing spring chamber, the induction coil together with an armature influenced by the valve needle forming a signal transducer for a measuring appliance for detecting the onset of injection and further data, as needed, of the injection process. The air gap of the magnetic circuit of the induction coil is formed between the armature and a coil, toward which the armature moves during the opening stroke of the valve needle. As a result, it is possible to attain a small initial air gap and a large change, in terms of percentage, in the air gap. The apparatus according to the invention is particularly suitable for measuring circuits in which a direct voltage is applied to the induction coil and the voltages induced as a result of the air gap changes in the induction coil are superimposed on the applied direct voltage.

  • Patent number: 4544870
Abstract: In an intermittent windshield wiper system in which the time between wiping cycles depends upon the degree of dryness of the windshield and upon the speed of the wiper blades on the downstroke of the wiping cycle toward the dwell position of the wiper blades, a circuit is provided to regulate the speed of the motor on the down stroke making use of the same transistor device that is used in controlling the energization of the motor to achieve intermittent operation. The motor is a three-brush motor and speed regulation is achieved by deriving signals from one or two of the brushes and applying it to the input electrode of the transistor device. The regulated speed of the motor can be manually controlled to provide a manual adjustment to the sensitivity of the system to the degree of dryness of the windshield.

  • Patent number: RE31997
Abstract: Repetitive operations, such as fuel injection and/or ignition timing of a gasoline engine, are controlled by a microprocessor with reference to engine operation parameters that provide electrical inputs in a manner achieving increased efficiency and economy by the provision of an input-output unit that supplies considerable preprocessing of the input signals under control of the microprocessor through the usual data and address buses. Counters are operated to count down from count limit values. The counting rate, as well as the count limit values, are capable of being varied by commands through the data bus, from time to time, so as to make the capabilities of the system adaptable to a wide variety of particular engines. The system is readily programmable for a particular application or machine if a programmable read-only memory (PROM or EPROM) is used for programming the microprocessor.
