  • Patent number: 4557305
Abstract: A cutter block for a motor driven hand planer includes a roller body which is composed of two profiled bodies of equal cross section. The two profiled bodies cooperate with each other to grip a planing knife therebetween. Between the profiled bodies and a supporting shaft, centering spring elements are provided in respective recesses of the shaft. For tightening the profiled body and gripping of the interposed planing knives, shank screws are used which extend through the roller body. Perpendicular to the shank screws and parallel to the gripping surfaces of the profiled bodies are adjusting screws for transverse movement of the profiled bodies relative to each other and with respect to the shaft. Consequently, the position of the planing knife is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4557528
Abstract: The subject of the application is a hydraulic vehicle brake system with brake force amplification and anti-skid regulation by use of anti-skid regulating valves and having at least one closed brake circuit, the main brake cylinder piston of which is acted upon by a pilot pressure fed in by a brake valve. In addition, the anti-skid regulating valves are preceded by a valve assembly which upon the actuation of the anti-skid regulating valves disconnects the anti-skid regulating valves from the main brake cylinder and connects them to a pilot pressure. This switchover is effected in the presence of an anti-skid regulating signal and/or a redetermined deflection of the brake pedal of a main brake cylinder piston.

  • Patent number: 4555850
Abstract: A hand plane, especially a hand plane machine, is provided with an adjusting and indicating arrangement for the planing depth. A wedge which is located before the tool element of the hand plane machine is adjustably fixed to an inclined base surface of the housing and constitutes the contact surface of the hand plane machine. A part of the wedge projects beyond the forward edge of the housing and is provided at its upper side with a scale. By means of the housing edge, the displacment of the wedge and consequently the adjustment of the planing depth can be read from the scale. The hand plane is of simple structure and good stability with respect to the adjustment, wherein the wedge can be fastened to the housing for example through screwing.

  • Patent number: 4556475
Abstract: A gas measurement probe has a casing (11) equipped with a closure shell (17) on its end away from the gas to be measured. At the other end of the casing, within its longitudinal bore, a sensor element (24) is held fast and tight in the casing. A rod-shaped part carrying a heater element fits within the sensor element and extends out of it at its end away from the gas to be measured to an extremity near which contact areas are provided on its periphery. On these contact areas, resilient connection wires lie under mechanical bias. These wires, between the loops bearing against the contact surface and their ends are bent in Z or sinuous shape so as to secure them against pulling, twisting and shaking forces. These connection elements and also another conductor running in the probe cooperate with an indexing feature of the rod-shaped element, such as a suitable groove to secure the rod-shaped component against twisting.

  • Patent number: 4556039
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are proposed for adapting the exhaust gas recirculation rate in internal combustion engines, in particular Diesel engines. In order to prevent the smoke which is produced at first in new engines, or when injection nozzles or the like are replaced, an adjustment is made in the exhaust gas recirculation rate, acting as a supplement to the change in this rate which is conventionally made, the supplementary adjustment being preferably performed in stages and with reference to the function of the duration of operation from the time the varying operating conditions begin. The number of injection events is counted and successive memory locations are triggered at time intervals, effecting an adaptation of the exhaust gas recirculation rate up to the final status, each stage in adaptation being stored permanently in memory as it is attained.

  • Patent number: 4555986
Abstract: A rotisserie consisting of a rotating cylindrical cage and two baskets which are connected to such cage to rotate with it and within it. The baskets are weldments having facing open circular ends with the diameter of one greater than the other so they can be telescoped together and secured in a number of relatively spaced positions for holding meat. The cage has six bars sixty degrees apart and is opened by removing two of the adjacent bars which are readily removable for that purpose. The baskets each have inner cylindrical parts and outer conical parts and are adjustably secured to the cage via central rods only at the apex of each conical part. The entire rotisserie can be readily dismantled for cleaning by loosening only five thumbscrews and two wing nuts, the latter being for the removable bars.

  • Patent number: 4555937
Abstract: A method is proposed for measuring the flow rate of the pulsating air mass aspirated by an internal combustion engine when there is a backflow. To this end, an integration process in one direction is initiated at a zero passage of the flow rate measurement value (U.sub.S) of the air flow rate measuring device at a given time, which indicates the beginning of the backflow; this integration process is continued until a subsequent zero passage occurs. Directly thereafter, an integration process in the opposite direction is initiated, which is terminated at a time when the latter integration value returns to zero. During the first integration process the flow rate measurement value (U.sub.S) is set to the value of zero and is not deregulated until the termination of the second integration process, so that it then jumps to a value which is subtracted from the flow rate measurement value, and the result is a flow rate measurement value from which the backflow has been excluded.

  • Patent number: 4556036
Abstract: Injection control pulses after starting the engine are multiplied by a fuel enrichment factor A.sub.1 depending on operational temperature and rotary speed of the engine. The time derivative -A/t of the enrichment factor is kept constant up to a predetermined rotary speed limit. When the speed limit is exceeded, the time derivative increases proportionally with the rotary speed increase. In this manner faster warm-up of the engine due to higher speeds influences the fuel enrichment phase.

  • Patent number: 4556983
Abstract: In a serial binary digit stream, when a single bit follows at least two bits of the opposite polarity and is succeeded also by a bit of that opposite polarity, a comparator produces a correction signal which is combined with the first-mentioned bit so as to broaden it in time span. As a result, the amplitude of reception or reproduction of the broadened bit is enhanced so as to compensate for deficiency of amplitude which would result from the imperfection of the transmission channel or recording and reproduction process. The broadening of the critical bit pulse can be performed by a correction pulse that enhances its amplitude, followed by Nyquist filtering and then by amplitude limiting to the normal binary digit amplitude level, or else the broadening can be accomplished by providing a correction pulse shifted in phase by an adjustably shifted clock pulse or train.

  • Patent number: 4556809
Abstract: Three rotors disposed in axial succession on a common shaft are mounted to cooperate with a common stator having an annular laminated core coaxial with the shaft on which a three-phase stator winding is wound. The rotors are of two kinds, the middle one being of one kind and the outer ones of the other kind. These two kinds of rotors are, namely, the laminated core kind having a short-circuited squirrel cage conductor system and the synchronous having shell-shaped or ring-shaped permanent magnets mounted on a soft iron yoke which is in turn carried by a pierced hub of nonmagnetizable material. The squirrel cage rotor or rotors provide high starting torque, and the synchronous rotors provide good synchronous torque and a synchronous nominal speed. When the synchronous rotor is in the middle, the stator core may be subdivided into three parts to facilitate cooling.

  • Patent number: 4554903
Abstract: In the pump work chamber of a fuel injection pump, the main fuel delivered by a first metering valve is admixed with at least one further additional fluid by means of a second metering valve via a second inflow conduit. The two metering valves inserted into the inflow conduits and being electromechanically actuatable receive control pulses (I.sub.Z1, I.sub.Z2) dependent on operating characteristics (n, T, S, L) from an electric control unit. By means of the metering into the pump work chamber, the respective amounts of the fuel components are very well mixed or emulsified and pumped to the injection nozzle. The electric triggering of the metering valves enables a rapid adaptation from one stroke to another of the mixture ratio of the various fuel components to the instant operating condition of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 4554899
Abstract: For a speed governing system for an internal combustion engine with self-ignition, which includes an electromagnetic final control element for influencing the injection quantity and a control unit having a governor for controlling the final control element, provisions are proposed which give the governor a high dynamic amplification in the range of a drop in the engine rpm, a dynamic amplification that drops from a higher value to a lower value in the range of a sudden drop of engine speed, that is, an rpm undercutting, and a flattened governor characteristic in the vicinity of the ends of the control range. A governor of this kind reacts very flexibly to changes in rpm and in particular does not enter a saturated state, and it adjusts to a new control state without disruptive reacceleration phenomena. A governor of this kind is particularly well suited for motor vehicles having a Diesel engine with a relatively large number of cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4555737
Abstract: Sudden changes in loudness of the sound signal between successive television scenes are avoided by substituting faded transitions between the sound signals of successive scenes instead of simple abutment of sound signal sequences one behind the other. This is produced, in a system in which the sound signals are digitally encoded, by distributing digital sound signal samples individually or by pairs to two recording channels in alternation and providing the transitions from the sound signals of one scene to the sound signal of the next scene earlier in one channel than in the other, by about 10 milliseconds. During that time span, one signal is faded out and the other is faded in by digital filtering or multiplication. It is convenient to provide such a reciprocal fading operation for the sound signals between each picture field or at least between each picture frame.
