Abstract: A process for the separation of an alcohol from a non-polar solvent; a ketone from a non-polar solvent; an alcohol from a mixture of a ketone and a non-polar solvent; or a mixture of an alcohol and a ketone from a non-polar solvent; said process comprising contacting at least one ionic liquid with a mixture comprising a non-polar solvent and at least one of an alcohol and a ketone.
Abstract: A DC motor control circuit includes a pair of substantially identical unipolar control circuits. Each of the unipolar control circuits are connected between a respective current source and a current input to the motor. Each of the unipolar control circuits includes a solid state switch located between a motor current input and the source of direct current. The degree to which the solid state switch allows current to flow to the motor is controlled by an input bias signal to the switch. Current limiting for adjusting the input bias signal according to the current flowing through the motor is provided in one way of controlling the motor movement.

Abstract: A method, a dynamic user interface and an electronic device for generating user-detectable multi-functional feedback using a single component in response to a stimulus signal. One or more resonating vibrating elements, such for example as a piezo-bender, are attached to a selected component of the electronic device. Because sensory feedback in the form of a haptic feedback signal, a buzzer signal, a vibratory alert signal and an audio signal are all generatable using such a piezo-element attached for example to a lens or housing of the device, a significant decrease in the space needed and in the required power consumption as compared to prior art devices, in which different feedback signals are generated using separate components, is realized.

Abstract: The invention provides a polyester bicomponent core spun yarn comprising a sheath of at least one hard fiber and having an English cotton count of from about 5 to about 60 and a core of bicomponent polyester filament. The invention further includes a fabric substantially free of grin-through of the bicomponent polyester filament.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a reactive carrier that forms no by-products during melt injection of polymer into articles such as sheets, films, fibers and containers. The reactive carrier is used to mix additives into the polymer resin. More particularly, the invention relates to the use of one or more cyclic anhydrides or substituted cyclic anhydrides as the reactive carrier. The polymer can be polyester or polyamide. Suitable cyclic anhydrides are those with a melt point of less than the polyester or polyamide, preferably less than about 160° C., and more preferably less than about 125° C. Most preferable are cyclic anhydrides with a melt point less than about 100° C. and especially suitable are those that are liquid at room temperature (25° C.).
Abstract: A guide is provided to direct the film or tape into the bonding area of a bonding apparatus. The guide includes first and second curved plates which are affixed to and separated by a spacer.
Abstract: This invention relates to nonwoven fabrics in which the fibers of the fabric are laid down such that a majority of the fibers have a fiber direction making an angle substantially parallel to or within an angle in a range of +/?45° of the machine direction. The invention also relates to a nonwoven fabric bonded web having bonding points in a pattern arranged along an axis perpendicular to the machine direction spaced and more widely apart than the bonding points arranged along an axis parallel to the machine direction. The resulting nonwoven having a very low elongation in the machine direction can be elongated with relatively little force in the cross machine direction.
Abstract: A method and apparatus of a work machine wherein an operator traverses the work machine within an operator selected speed range. The operator positions a speed-range control device to select the operator selected speed range, thus, sending a speed-range signal from the speed-range control device to an electronic control module indicative of the position of the speed-range control device. The speed-range signal is converted to a scaling factor to re-calibrate at least one drive map indicative of the scaling factor. The operator then may position a control device to traverse the work machine within the operator selected speed range.

Abstract: The present invention relates to trimellitic anhydride imide ester, a method of making it, and polyesters or polyamides that can be modified with trimellitic anhydride (TMA) to provide better heat resistance and mechanical properties. With the present invention, there are two processes for making TMA-ester. The first process is by charging into a reactor equimolar amounts of trimellitic anhydride and primary hydroxyalkylamine, primary carboxylalkylamine or primary carboxylarylamine, with an excess of alcohol or diol. The second process for producing the imide ester is to react two moles of TMA with one mole of a diamine of the formula H2N—X—NH2 with an excess of alcohol or diol; where X is an aliphatic, alicyclic, or aromatic group. Generally the reactor contains water as a dispersant for the reactants. The reaction time is from about 1-8 hours. The reaction temperature is from about 160° C. to about 220° C.
