  • Patent number: 4405145
Abstract: An arrangement in articulated vehicles for avoiding uncontrolled articulation movements between participating vehicle units, particularly occurring in vehicles equipped with driving wheels on the trailing unit where driving takes place as a thrusting movement. Power transmitted to the driving wheels is limited in response to different operating conditions for the vehicle units, represented by articulation angles and/or different wheel speeds on leading and trailing vehicle units. By means of sensors sensing current operational conditions, circuits comparing sensor signals and power control means controlling the driving unit for limiting the power transmitted to the driving wheels in response to the signals, uncontrolled articulation movements are avoided.

  • Patent number: 4392368
Abstract: A press operating with hydraulic pressure comprises a pair of relatively movable components (8, 11) which during a pressing operation carry out a relative movement which is sensed. By use of the sensed relative movement a control signal is generated which is used for regulating the hydraulic pressure so that this is caused to vary with the relative movement according to a certain functional relationship. For generating the control signal a manually programmable electrical function generator (23) is provided, preferably a panel (29) comprising plug contacts (34), on which a plurality of pairwise associated pressure and movement values, constituting electrically and visually readable points in the desired functional relationship, can be set up.

  • Patent number: 4391258
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for mechanically driving a mechanism connected to an internal combustion engine. A push rod is mounted between the mechanism and a shaft rotatably mounted in the engine, one end of said rod being adapted to actuate the mechanism and the other end being adapted to resiliently engage against an arcuate surface on said shaft and to be given oscillating translation motion by said shaft on rotation. The invention is distinguished in that the end of the push rod engaging against the shaft is provided with two extensions at least partially embracing the arcuate surface on the shaft, said extensions guiding the position of a rod in a plane transverse to the shaft when said shaft rotates. The push rod thus requires no extra guidance and is simple to fit and to dismantle. The push rod preferably comprises two parts joined to each other via a jointing sleeve allowing a given degree of angular latitude between said parts.

  • Patent number: 4381662
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for regulating the signal level in detecting knocking in an internal combustion engine. A transducer, incorporated in a knocking detector, senses a parameter responding to pressure and/or temperature during combustion in the engine and emits a signal representing the degree of knocking. The output signal of the knocking detector controls a knocking-regulating quantity affecting combustion in the engine by being applied to a signal level limiting block which, when knocking sensed by the transducer exceeds a preselected level, limits the output signal level to a level corresponding to said preselected level, whereafter the output signal, at least for a limited time, can only be altered by signals representing a lesser degree of knocking than the preselected degree. Knocking can then be inhibited without delay.

  • Patent number: 4372276
Abstract: An arrangement for switching a carburetor in an internal combustion engine in a vehicle adapted for alternative operation on liquid or gaseous fuel. The carburetor is of the type where the pressure upstream of a throttle butterfly determines the engine air and fuel supply by the actuation of a piston provided with a metering needle. When using liquid fuel, the piston executes upward and downward movements, a passage leading through the carburetor thereby being constricted to a varying degree, and similarly the needle is caused to be thrust to a varying degree into a nozzle for metering liquid fuel to the engine induction air. This signifies too rapid wear of the metering needle in alternating operation on liquid and gaseous fuel.

  • Patent number: 4328622
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the evenness of a substructure, e.g. a road surface, is fitted to a vehicle. The free ends of a number of pivotable measuring arms, uniformly spaced side by side over the entire vehicle width, engage the substructure resiliently during measurement. Each measuring arm is pivotably mounted in a measuring housing which has a plate spring coacting with each arm. On pivotation of the arm relative to said housing, as a result of unevenness in the substructure, the plate spring executes a corresponding deflection, sensed by strain gauges attached to said spring and giving output signals, proportional to the deflection, to an electronic unit wherein the signals are converted to output data representing the surface evenness of the substructure.

  • Patent number: 4297911
Abstract: In a passenger car the steering wheel, which is impact-absorbing, is fixed to a steering wheel column that via an intermediate shaft is connected to a steering gear. The steering wheel column is journalled in a collapsible column support that is attached to a horizontal support beam extending transversely in the vehicle interior at a certain distance behind the beam supporting the windshield. The ends of the support beam are attached to carrying portions of the vehicle. On the intermediate shaft there is a deformable portion allowing the intermediate shaft to become deformed upon collision impact. In this way collision forces acting from the front reach the support beam and the steering wheel column late, while allowing the steering wheel and the column support to cushion the driver.

  • Patent number: 4266630
Abstract: In a forward engine compartment of a vehicle a power unit is suspended so as to have a controlled rearward movement in the engine compartment when exposed to excessive forces in the lengthwise direction of the vehicle during a collision. There is at least one rear mounting having a resilient body separating two members secured to the power unit and to structural portions of the vehicle body, respectively. Said rear mounting allows one of the members a limited movement relative to the other while absorbing deformation work. As the power unit travels further back the attachment of the rear mounting is gradually destroyed, but it holds long enough to allow the power unit to hit a cowl panel at the rear of the engine compartment, thus controlling the travel of the power unit.
