  • Patent number: 10555818
Abstract: Intervertebral spinal fusion implants for interbody fusion of the anterior column of the spine are described. The implants have a substantially bi-convex or a substantially offset bi-convex shape. The implants are placed through a transforaminal or posterior approach at an oblique insertion angle. The implants have an outermost point on the superior convex surface and an outermost point on the inferior convex surface and four edges of differing heights. The outermost superior and inferior points of the implants are connected with the four edges with convex surfaces of different curvatures. The curvatures of the convex surfaces of the implants are designed to match the curvatures of concave vertebral surfaces when the implants are inserted at an oblique insertion angle.

  • Patent number: 10555717
Abstract: Introduced here are electronic stethoscope systems designed to simultaneously monitor sounds originating from within a body under examination and the ambient environment. An electronic stethoscope system can include one or more input units that are connected to a hub unit. Each input unit may have at least one auscultation microphone and at least one ambient microphone. To improve the quality of sound recorded by an input unit, a processor can apply a noise cancellation algorithm that considers as input the audio data produced by the auscultation microphone(s) and the audio data produced by the ambient microphone(s). The audio data may be digitized directly in the input unit, and then transmitted to the hub unit for synchronization. For example, by examining the audio data produced by the ambient microphone(s), the processor may discover which digital artifacts, if any, should be filtered from the audio data produced by the auscultation microphone(s).

  • Patent number: 10556791
Abstract: Monolithic integration of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors with complementary oxide semiconductor (CMOS) electronics for pressure sensors is a very challenging task. This is primarily due to the requirement for a very high quality thin diaphragm to provide the pressure dependent MEMS deformation that can be sensed and, when seeking absolute rather than relative pressure sensors, a sealed reference cavity. Accordingly, a new manufacturing process is established based upon back-etching and bonding of a monolithic absolute silicon carbide (SiC) capacitive pressure sensor. Beneficially, the process embeds the critical features of the MEMS within a shallow trench formed within the silicon substrate and then processing the CMOS circuit. The process further benefits as it maintains that those elements of the MEMS element fabrication process that are CMOS compatible are implemented concurrently with those CMOS steps as well as the metallization steps.
