  • Patent number: 9851428
Abstract: Various embodiments include methods and apparatus structured to balance electrode pairs (112, 312) of a tool (105, 305) providing voltage equivalence between the electrode pairs. An electrically conductive wire (113, 313) coupling the electrodes of an electrode pair can be arranged such that resistance of the electrically conductive wire does not adversely affect the voltage equivalence. The electrically conductive wire can also be structured to provide temperature independent balancing by arranging the electrically conductive wire with respect to a measuring node (116, 316). Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9852009
Abstract: Methods for optimizing utilization of workload-consumed resources for time-inflexible workloads are disclosed. By sorting workload-consumed resource profiles representing individual workloads in one system according to an order of standard deviation or descending volume, two workload-consumed resource profiles can be combined to check if combination criteria are fulfilled. If any combination satisfies the combination criteria, corresponding workloads can be combined to share the same resource from the system. Thus, optimizing utilization of the workload-consumed resource can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 9853868
Abstract: Cloud computing has emerged as an extremely popular implementation option for a wide range of computing services. However, provisioning services into the cloud is an extremely difficult technical challenge. This is due in part to the regular emergence of new cloud service providers, as well as the routine changing and reconfiguration of the disparate computing platforms, services, assets, supported technical components, and other features offered by the service providers. An analysis architecture determines how to map a particular technical component into the execution environment of any particular service provider.

  • Patent number: 9851043
Abstract: A crack arrestor apparatus and method for making same by applying layers of a composite material of non-metallic fibers and resin around a length of pipe; the fibers generally aligned with the pipe circumference. The applied layers have a thicker portion in the middle and a thinner portion on the ends. Part of the pipe covered by the thicker portion is then yielded by application of radial force past the elastic limit of the pipe, thereby creating circumferential tension on the composite. At least a portion of the composite remains in circumferential tension upon release of the radial force. The residual stresses in the yielded metal pipe assist to arrest crack propagation. Thereby, the process to arrest a crack in a metal pipe includes maintaining circumferential tension in a composite residing around the pipe while maintaining compressive circumferential residual stress on the metal pipe covered by the composite.

  • Patent number: 9852288
Abstract: The present subject matter relates to securing data on a computing system. In an example, a request to execute an application instance of the application is received. After receiving the request a role to be associated with the application instance may be identified based on one of user inputs, an object-role mapping, and a set of rules. Further, the application is executable in a plurality of application instances and the role of the application instance is indicative of a nature of activity to be performed in the application instance. The identified role is then associated with the application instance. Based on the role, data pertaining to the application instance may be stored in a memory location allocated to the role of the application instance. Further, each role has a dedicated memory location.
