There are provided a driving gear which is secured to a rotational shaft of a rotational driving power source and is rotated at a constant peripheral speed, a driven gear secured coaxially to a rotational shaft of a cylindrical-shaped photosensitive member, a phase control gear having the same diameter as that of the driven gear and having the same rotational speed variation characteristic as that of the driven gear, and a transmission gear, and a driving force from the driving gear is transmitted to the driven gear through the phase control gear and the transmission gear.
Abstract: Using the attribute “priority” to achieve a stronger Forward Error Correction (FEC) for Radio Link Control (RLC) Control Protocol Data Units (PDUs) transmitted via the High Speed Downlinik Shared Channel (HS-DSCH) also entails prioritized handling so that an RLC Control PDU is likely to overhaul an RLC Data PDU. As a consequence the RLC protocol operation can severely be disturbed, since it relies on in-sequence delivery of control and data PDUs. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, two types of containers are provided in which data packets may be transmitted, wherein the first type of container is provided with a stronger error coding than the second type of container and wherein data packets which comprise control instructions are only transmitted in the first container type with the stronger error correction. Due to this, an improved forward error correction for control PDUs of the AM RLC protocol of Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) may be provided.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for analyzing exon expression profiles of a cell or type of cell. In the invention, the expression levels of a plurality of individual exons or multiexons for each of a plurality of genes in the genome of an organism are measured and analyzed to determine the biological state, such as the exon expression state or transcriptional state, of the cell or type of cell. The methods of the invention are useful for determination of alternative RNA splicing in a plurality of genes. The invention also provides nucleic acid probe arrays for determining in parallel the expression levels of a plurality of exons or multiexons for each of a plurality of genes in the genome of an organism. The invention further provides methods for determining the effects of perturbations, such as perturbations by drugs, on exon expression and alternative RNA splicing pathways.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus (100) includes a photoreceptor drum (1), a development unit (2), a pressing member (7), and a vibration absorption member (8). The development unit (2) is disposed adjacent to the photoreceptor drum (1), and supported movably toward and away from the photoreceptor drum (1). The pressing member (7) urges the development unit (2) toward the photoreceptor drum. The vibration absorption member (8) frictionally suppresses the movement of the development unit (2) toward and away from the photoreceptor drum (1). The vibration absorption member (8) attenuates a self-excited vibration of the development unit (2), by suppressing the movement of the development unit (2).
Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing apparatus which can promptly detect whether or not a jam has been removed in the case of occurrence of the jam such as a paper jam. A paper feeding apparatus 1b includes a paper feed tray 11, a pickup roller 61, a paper roller 63, a sorting roller 64, feeding rollers 66a, resist rollers 67, a paper ejection roller 73, a passage detection sensor 69, an overlapped feeding detection sensor 68 and a second detection apparatus 71. An image processing apparatus 100 includes a position detection portion 41 for detecting a location of a jam which occurs during feeding of recording paper, a determination portion 42 for determining a jam state based on a detection result of the position detection sensor 69, an examination portion 43 for examining whether the jam has been resolved and a resuming portion 44 for resuming the processing when an examination of the jam location by the examination portion 43 is finished.
Abstract: A portable information terminal includes a first casing having a manipulation unit at its surface, a second casing having a display unit at its surface, and a rotation link mechanism linking the first casing and the second casing such that the second casing rotates slidably with respect to the first casing. The rotation link mechanism is configured to allow transition, by one rotating operation, from one to another of a closed state in which the second casing entirely covers the manipulation unit of the first casing and an open state in which the manipulation unit of the first casing is exposed as a result of movement of the second casing that takes an axially symmetric orientation to the center line of the first casing in the open state. Thus, the operation from a closed state up to an open state can all be readily conducted with one hand.

Abstract: A high-density plasma method is provided for forming a SiOXNY thin-film. The method provides a substrate and introduces a silicon (Si) precursor. A thin-film is deposited overlying the substrate, using a high density (HD) plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) process. As a result, a SiOXNY thin-film is formed, where (X+Y<2 and Y>0). The SiOXNY thin-film can be stoichiometric or non-stoichiometric. The SiOXNY thin-film can be graded, meaning the values of X and Y vary with the thickness of the SiOXNY thin-film. Further, the process enables the in-situ deposition of a SiOXNY thin-film multilayer structure, where the different layers may be stoichiometric, non-stoichiometric, graded, and combinations of the above-mentioned types of SiOXNY thin-films.
