Abstract: An OFDM demodulation circuit capable of initiating a demodulation process within a short period of time after the reception of a signal and terminating the demodulation early if it has been initiated erroneously, and an OFDM reception apparatus employing the OFDM demodulation circuit. If a threshold value Sth2 in peak detector 122 is not exceeded within a predetermined time T following the output of a symbol timing signal from peak detector 121, namely if a continuation timing signal is not supplied from peak detector 122 to a demodulation process terminating circuit 162 before demodulation process terminating circuit 162 counts predetermined time T (step S115), demodulation process terminating circuit 162, determining that the position at which the demodulation process has been started was wrong, terminates the currently executed demodulation process soon after the completion of the counting of predetermined time T and returns to a received-signal awaiting state (step S111).

Abstract: In an image forming apparatus in which a scanner portion is disposed in an upper portion of the apparatus, a paper cassette is disposed in a lower portion of the apparatus, and a print portion is disposed between the scanner portion and the paper cassette, in one embodiment, a paper post-processing portion that performs paper post-processing for paper transported from the apparatus main body after printing is disposed in a space of the apparatus main body formed by the scanner portion, the print portion, and the paper cassette. Provided in a discharge roller portion that discharges paper from the paper post-processing portion to a discharge tray are a drive roller, and a first idler roller and second idler roller that form a pair with the drive roller and can be selectively used when discharging paper to the discharge tray.
Abstract: An optical pickup device comprising: a tilting mechanism for tilting an objective lens in accordance with tilt of an optical information disc disposed above the objective lens; a wavelength-selecting opening-regulating filter disposed immediately below the objective lens and moving integrally with the objective lens; and a turning mirror for guiding light beams from a light source toward the opening-regulating filter, wherein a stopper for regulating an amount of downward movement of a holder for holding the objective lens and the opening-regulating filter is provided in the vicinity of a plane including the axis of tilting operation of the tilting mechanism and center of the objective lens and at substantially the same height level as that of the opening-regulating filter, and at least one of the opening-regulating filter and the turning mirror has a contact avoiding part for avoiding contact between the opening-regulating filter and the turning mirror.

Abstract: A method of selectively providing MIMO transmission/reception in a WLAN system includes using a TSPEC reservation and signaling mechanism to instantiate and tear down, dynamically, multi-channel operation in a WLAN; providing an inference algorithm to determine the minimum number of channels required to establish a TSPEC using a MIMO WLAN system; providing specific channel parameters as parameters to be negotiated in the TSPEC; providing frame exchange sequences to be used in Enhanced Distributed Coordinated Access contention based access and to be used in polled access; and providing a mechanism wherein an access point makes a decision as to whether to admit MIMO functionality on a given link, wherein a “link” is a set of communications between two specific WLAN stations.

Abstract: A method of making a micro corner cube array includes the steps of: preparing a substrate, at least a surface portion of which consists of cubic single crystals and which has a surface that is substantially parallel to {111} planes of the crystals; and etching the surface of the substrate anisotropically, thereby forming a plurality of unit elements for the micro corner cube array on the surface of the substrate. Each of these unit elements is made up of a number of crystal planes that have been formed at a lower etch rate than the {111} planes of the crystals.
Abstract: An information display device having a large display screen that facilitates input/edit to a position away from the operation position of a user is provided. This information display device is equipped with a touch sensor on a display screen to enable an operation for screen display through a touch operation on the screen, equally divides the screen horizontally and vertically, sets a sub-screen area that displays a divided image of an image displayed on the screen, and transforms a touch operation position in the sub-screen area into a position on the display screen to replace a touch operation in the sub-screen area with an operation of the screen display on the display screen for enabling a remote operation.

Provided thereby are a color filter inspection method and a color filter inspection apparatus, each for early discovering unevenness through macroscopic observation of the whole color filter by illuminating the color filter edge and by taking reflected light that is not specular reflected light, the unevenness occurring in a drying step, the color filter edge containing a boundary between a pixel and a black matrix.
Abstract: A solid-state image capturing apparatus is provided, the apparatus including: a pixel section having a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix therein; an A/D conversion circuit for performing A/D conversion of pixel signals that are read out from pixels of the pixel section to output digital pixel values; and a correcting logic circuit for receiving the digital pixel values outputted from the A/D conversion circuit and correcting the digital pixel value of effective pixels on each of horizontal pixel lines based on an average horizontal optical black value, which is an average digital pixel value of a plurality of shaded pixels in a corresponding horizontal pixel line.
Abstract: A system for adding a post-collation operation to an imaging job is disclosed. The system includes a computing device with executable instructions. The executable instructions are executable on the computing device and are configured to implement a method for adding a post-collation operation to the imaging job. The imaging job is received downstream from an origination point of the imaging job and upstream from a job interpreter/rasterization process in an imaging device. New commands are inserted into the imaging job that relate to a post-collation operation. Another use of the method for multi-job interleaving is also disclosed.
Abstract: A digital copying machine as an example of the image processing apparatus is provided with a scanner unit and a printer unit is arranged such that a display state of a printer-side display panel of a printer-side user interface section changes its display state in response to a command entered by a scanner-side user interface. As a result, an image processing apparatus provided with a plurality of user interface sections of desirable operability can be realized.
Abstract: Provided are an electron emitter continuously emitting electrons stably even in the atmosphere, a charger using the electron emitter, and a charging method using the charger. The electron emitter includes a electron emitting element consisting of a first electrode, a second electrode, and a semiconductor layer formed therebetween, and a power supply for alternately applying a positive voltage enabling electron emission and a negative voltage having a polarity opposite to the positive voltage. At least a part of the surface on the first electrode side of the semiconductor layer is formed of a porous semiconductor layer. Electrons captured in the porous semiconductor layer in the course of electron emission with application of a positive voltage disturb electron emission from the electron emitting element. Such electrons, however, are removed by application of a negative voltage.
Abstract: Provided is a developing toner for electrostatic latent images capable of coping with the size reduction of an image forming apparatus and decrease of the consumption amount, not shortening the working life of a photoreceptor, less causing paper jam, background fogging, etc., excellent in various characteristics required for the toner, and capable of forming images of good picture quality. Abstract: A cellular phone having a plurality of cameras and being able to switch display of a picture without interrupting display for the camera is provided. Processes executed by a control unit of the cellular phone include the steps of measuring a holddown time when holddown of a button is detected; sending the video signal sent from the camera corresponding to a numeric button to a main monitor when a first function button is held down for a holddown time shorter than a predetermined time and the numeric button is held down; and sending the video signal sent from the camera set as a next source to the main monitor when the numeric button is not held down. The processes further includes the step of sending the video signal sent from a main camera to main monitor when the holddown time is longer than the predetermined time.
Abstract: An array of submicron silicon (Si) tubes is provided with a method for patterning submicron Si tubes. The method provides a Si substrate, and forms a silicon dioxide film overlying the Si substrate. An array of silicon dioxide rods is formed from the silicon dioxide film, and Si3N4 tubes are formed surrounding the silicon dioxide rods. The silicon dioxide rods are etched away. Then, exposed regions of the Si substrate are etched, forming Si tubes underlying the Si3N4 tubes. Finally, the Si3N4 tubes are removed.
