  • Patent number: 5815001
Abstract: A board includes two integrated circuits each having first terminals, second terminals, one basic configuration and one test configuration. The basic configurations contain components performing functions during normal operation of the circuits for which a particular circuit is intended. Each of the basic configurations has inputs and outputs connected to the terminals. Each of the test configurations has inputs and at least one output. Each of the inputs is connected to a respective one of the first terminals for supplying test signals to the test configuration, during a test mode of each of the circuits. The outputs are connected to the second terminals for transmitting result signals from the test configuration to the second terminals. The test and result signals are unaffected by the basic configurations during application of the test and result signals.

  • Patent number: 5815247
Abstract: A system and method of avoiding pattern shortening without resorting to generating a mask with a bias solve the direction dependent differences in exposure behavior in photolithography processes in the manufacture of semiconductor devices. Instead of designing a biased mask to solve the exposure problem, the pattern shortening effect is avoided by influencing the exposure process itself. By using an off axis illumination technique, the exposure is separated into different directions. In one embodiment, off axis illumination is applied in combination with special dipole apertures (i.e., two openings). The exposure is done in two or more parts, whereby the aperture is twisted between exposures. In another embodiment, off axis illumination is used in combination with special polarizer apertures. As with the first embodiment, the exposure is done in two or more parts, but in this case with differently polarized light.

  • Patent number: 5814736
Abstract: In ultrasound flow rate meters, an acoustical short circuit between ultrasonic transducers is a special problem. Such a short circuit results in an ultrasonic signal being propagated through a wall of a measuring tube from a sending to a receiving transducer and not being influenced by a medium in the measuring tube. Sealing off a gas path around the ultrasonic transducers is also problematic. In order to solve the problem, the ultrasonic transducers are sheathed with an elastomer molded body. From 25% to 60% of an outer surface of the ultrasonic transducer, which is constructed as a cup-type transducer, is lined with the elastomer molded body, beginning at a cup edge thereof. Contact of the holder with the ultrasonic transducer is minimal and occurs only in an acoustically quiet zone.

  • Patent number: 5811486
Abstract: For better flame-retardant finishing and better workability of an epoxy-anhydride reaction resin system, it is proposed to supplement the reaction resin system with phosphonic semi-ester as additional reactive constituents. These are produced by conversion of phosphonic acid anhydride with single-valent or multi-valent alcohols. As a result of the selection of the alcohol constituent, property features of the molding material modified therewith that are already advantageous can be designationally set without thereby negatively influencing the hardening characteristic. Even with slight parts of phosphonic acid semi-ester, shaped members manufactured therefrom exhibit an adequate flame-retardant behavior given an otherwise unmodified property profile.

  • Patent number: 5812632
Abstract: An x-ray tube has an evacuated housing in which an electron-emitting cathode is rigidly mounted and a rotating anode having an anode dish rotatable by a drive arrangement, which is struck by the electron beam, accelerated with an electrical field, for producing x-rays. An electromagnetic system for the deflection and focusing of the electron beam has a number of current-permeated coil elements. The cathode generates a rotationally-symmetrical circular beam, and the rotational axis of the anode dish is offset from and parallel to the axis of the electron beam by the average radius of the anode dish edge. The electromagnetic system generates a dipole-free quadrupole field that deforms the electron beam cross-section.

  • Patent number: 5812570
Abstract: A laser diode component includes a semiconductor body secured on a heat sink which includes a dissipator and an electrically and thermally conductive connection plate. The semiconductor body is secured to the connection plate, which in turn is applied to the dissipator. The connection plate is formed of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion that is similar to the coefficient of thermal expansion of the semiconductor material of the semiconductor body. A connecting layer between the semiconductor body and the connection plate is preferably formed of hard solder. The dissipator is secured to the connection plate, for example through the use of a thermally conductive adhesive. A method for producing a plurality of laser diode components includes making many such laser diode components as a unit, and then subsequently cutting them apart.
