  • Patent number: 6016793
Abstract: A module for an on-board evaporative emission leak detection system that detects leakage from an evaporative emission space of an automotive vehicle fuel system. A pump disposed within interior space of the module has an inlet in communication with the interior space and a flow passage through which the evaporative emission space is pressurized by the pump. A vent valve within the interior space is selectively operable to a first state that vents the flow passage to the interior space of the module and to a second state that does not vent the flow passage to the interior space. An electromechanical actuator within the interior space operates both the pump and the vent valve. The actuator has an electromagnet coil disposed on the middle leg of an E-shaped core comprising a stack of ferromagnetic laminations.

  • Patent number: 6017133
Abstract: The device for recognizing the position of the terminals (A) of components (BE) whose optical unwanted structures proceed in two principal directions (X, Y) has an image transducer (BW) equipped with an objective (O); and at least one segmented ring light illumination (RB; RB1, RB2) whose rays (S; S1, S2) are incident onto the surface of the components (BE) from all sides upon exclusion of angular segments (WS) around the principal directions (X, Y). By suppressing the light directions incident perpendicular and parallel to the unwanted structures, the terminals (A) are presented with clearly higher contrast than the other structures of the components (BE). The device is particularly utilized in components vision systems of automatic equipping units. It enables a reliably recognition of the position of the spherical terminals even given flip chips, bare chips and ball grid arrays and, thus, an exact optoelectronic centering of these components.

  • Patent number: 6016780
Abstract: An air intake device includes a collector connected through suction pipes to cylinders of an internal combustion engine. An intermediate collector is formed by an auxiliary body and by portions of the suction pipes. The portions of the suction pipes are led in pairs, in parallel and close to one another, through the intermediate collector. Two adjacent suction pipes are each assigned a wing flap which has three wings and is disposed in the intermediate collector. In an end position, each wing flap opens a main orifice through which the suction pipes communicate with the auxiliary body and a secondary orifice through which two adjacent suction pipes communicate directly. In a closing position, the wing flap closes the orifices. Two different effective suction pipe lengths are thereby obtained in the two positions of the wing flap.

  • Patent number: 6016690
Abstract: A leak detection method for an on-board evaporative emission leak detection system that detects leakage from an evaporative emission space of a fuel system of an automotive vehicle. During a leak detection test, a vent valve closes, and a purge valve, that selectively communicates the evaporative emission space with the engine intake manifold, opens to cause vacuum to be drawn in the evaporative emission space. A vacuum regulator valve regulates evaporative emission space vacuum to a defined vacuum. Subsequently, the purge valve closes. Loss of vacuum, indicative of leakage, is signaled by a pressure sensor. An algorithm detects a substantially constant rate of vacuum loss and then measures the amount of loss over a defined time interval. That measurement is then compensated for volume of the evaporative emission space and rate of fuel volatilization to arrive at a value forming a basis for making a leakage determination.

  • Patent number: 6018263
Abstract: A trigger circuit for a field-effect-controlled power semiconductor component has a controllable gate resistor for the power semiconductor component, which has low impedance in a normal situation and is switched to high impedance in the event of a short circuit. As a result, the turn-on time in the normal situation is shortened, and limiting the gate-to-source voltage of the power semiconductor component in the short-circuit situation is made possible.

  • Patent number: 6016008
Abstract: An improved integrated circuit interconnection for interconnecting at least two conductive regions within an integrated circuit, and method for producing the same. The interconnection includes a tungsten layer and a barrier layer to provide a low contact resistance within the interconnection and between the conductive regions and the interconnection. The interconnection also includes an aluminum layer for providing a low sheet resistance in the current path between the two conductive regions. Thus the invention combines the advantages of an all tungsten interconnection with those of a tungsten capsuled aluminum interconnection.

  • Patent number: 6016054
Abstract: A phase adjustment circuit is provided for use in an inductive drive utility meter that employs a current stator and a rotating disk. The phase adjustment circuit includes an impedance circuit and a first current limiting device. The impedance circuit has at least first and second terminals, and is disposed in a flux inducing relationship with the current stator such that the flux within the current stator induces a voltage across the first and second terminals of the impedance circuit. The first current limiting device has a first bias threshold, and is connected between the first and second terminals of the impedance circuit. The current limiting device is operable to inhibit current flow in a first direction through the impedance circuit based on whether the voltage induced on said impedance circuit exceeds the first bias threshold. The current flow through the impedance circuit then induces a compensation flux density component onto the current stator, which in turn affects registration of the meter.

  • Patent number: 6016510
Abstract: In a massively parallel processing (MPP) system, data transmission between a first routing element to a buffer in a second routing element can be controlled more efficiently by generating a high and low watermark for the buffer, wherein the watermark values are based on a period of time required to transmit data between the routing elements. The amount of data stored in the buffer is then continuously compared to the high watermark value, and if the amount of data in the buffer is greater than or equal to the high watermark value, the first routing element becomes blocked from transmitting additional data to the buffer in the second routing element.

  • Patent number: 6014889
Abstract: A gas analyzer has a test chamber for a gas sample, an inlet for the gas sample and a gas sensor sensitive to gas movement, for determining the concentration of a constituent gas in the gas sample. The inlet is adapted to be connected to an inspiration line of a respirator. A shield is arranged so it covers the inlet of the test chamber, causing the gas sample to remain relatively still inside the test chamber during the analysis, regardless of the main flow of the gas to be analyzed. The gas analyzer can accordingly be devised for direct connection to the gas to be analyzed.

  • Patent number: 6015988
Abstract: A method for forming a microstructure includes photolithographically forming a vertically extending post on a portion of a surface of a substrate to provide a first structure. A flowable, sacrificial material is deposited over a surface of the first structure. The flowable, sacrificial materially flows off the top surface and sidewall portions of the post onto adjacent portions of the surface of the substrate to provide a second structure. A non-sacrificial material is deposited over a surface of the second structure. The non-sacrificial material is deposited to conform to the surface of the second structure. The non-sacrificial is deposited over the sacrificial material, over the sidewall portions and over the top surface of the post. The deposited sacrificial material is selectively removed while the non-sacrificial material remains to form a third structure with a horizontal member provided by the non-sacrificial material.
