Abstract: A cosmetic preparation contains, as a fatty phase, karite oil having the following characteristics: palmitic acid (C.sub.16), 3-5 percent; stearic acid (C.sub.18), 22-30 percent; oleic acid (C.sub.18:1), 55-65 percent; linoleic acid (C.sub.18:2), 0.5-1.5 percent; and arachidic acid (C.sub.20), 0.5-1.5 percent, said percentages being based on the total weight of fatty acid present in said karite oil, a viscosity of 100-300 centipoises, a melting point of 5.1.degree.-5.4.degree. C., a crystallization temperature of 2.9.degree.-3.degree. C. and an unsaponifiable content of 1.2-1.5 percent.

Abstract: A process for preparing a hair dye or bleach composition which comprises mixing a gelifiable liquid vehicle with an oxidizing solution having dissolved therein an incompatible cationic polymer. The resulting gel is applied to the hair and after an appropriate contact time, the hair is rinsed.

Abstract: A rod or stick for pharmaceutical or cosmetic use in topical application to the skin of an easily oxidizable active substance comprises an internal fatty phase or core phase containing in an anhydrous medium the oxidizable active substance. The said core phase is protected from oxidation by an external fatty phase or sheath phase containing at least one surface active agent. The said sheath phase entirely envelopes the circumferential surface and at least one end section of said core phase.

Abstract: A composition for topical application to the skin contains, as a fatty product to provide a nongreasy protective and emollient film thereon, a polyether oligomer having the formula ##STR1## wherein R is alkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms; R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represent hydrogen or alkyl having 1-6 carbon atoms, with at least two of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 being hydrogen; m is 1-4; n has an average value equal to or greater than 2; and the number of carbon atoms in each repetitive unit being at least 4.

Abstract: Nail lacquer compositions comprising a polymer resin consisting essentially of units resulting from the copolymerization of:(1) 75 to 97% by weight of at least one monomer having the general formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 represents an hydrogen atom or a methyl radical, andR.sub.2 represents a linear alkyl radical or a branched radical having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, a mono or dihydroxy alkyl radical, the alkyl radical having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, a glycidyl radical or the radical --(CH.sub.2).sub.n --OR', wherein R' represents methyl or ethyl and n is 3 or 4, and(2) 3 to 25% by weight of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of N-vinylsulfonamide, 4-styrenesulfonamide, acrylamide, methacrylamide, N-(N'N',3-dimethylaminopropyl) methacrylamide and N-(N'N',3-dimethylaminopropyl) acrylamide.

Abstract: An anti-acne composition comprises in a carrier suitable for topical application to the skin an active compound having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is linear or branched alkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms, mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl having 2-5 carbon atoms, alkenyl having 3-6 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl having 3-6 carbon atoms, or a radical of the formula ##STR2## wherein n is 0 or 1, m is 1, 2 or 3, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl having 1-3 carbon atoms and R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, nitro, --CF.sub.3 or halogen. The acid salts of these active compounds can also be used.

Abstract: A cosmetic cleansing composition capable of removing eye make-up comprises in an aqueous solution a cleansing agent comprising a mixture of surface active agents in the indicated amounts:(i) from 0.1 to 2 percent by weight, based on the total weight of said composition, as active material, of a glucoside alkylether having the formula ##STR1## wherein R represents alkyl having 8-12 carbon atoms,n is equal to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5;(ii) from 0.1 to 2 percent by weight, based on the total weight of said composition, as active material, of an amphoteric material of the formula ##STR2## wherein n is 0 or 1,y is 1 or 2,R represents a fatty chain having from 7 to 17 carbon atoms andR' represents --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 OH or --(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --O--(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --COONa,optionally in admixture with an oxyethylenated alkyl sulfate of the formula C.sub.13 H.sub.27 --(OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.m --OSO.sub.3 Na wherein m is 1-4 (III); and(iii) from 0.

Abstract: An emulsifying system for use in the production of cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions in the form of an emulsoid or gel comprises (i) at least one fatty acid having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms or a protein condensate of a fatty acid having from 8 to 40 carbon atoms and a polypeptide of animal origin, (ii) a polyoxyethylenated sterol and (iii) a phosphatide.

Abstract: An anhydrous or aqueous cosmetic composition contains, as an oily phase, the fat of Shorea robusta or a mixture of the fat of Shorea robusta and a cosmetically acceptable oil, another fat or wax. The cosmetic composition can be a cream, an emulsion or any other composition containing or comprising an oily phase.

Abstract: Anti-sunburn compositions are provided which comprise, as active ingredient, at least one compound of the general formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 is selected from hydrogen, alkyl radicals containing 1 to about 12 carbon atoms and optionally branched carboxyalkyl radicals containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms;R.sub.2 is selected from hydrogen, alkoxy radicals containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, at least one alkyl and carboxyalkyl radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and halogen atoms.R.sub.3 is selected from hydrogen, carboxyalkyl radicals containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and --S--R.sub.8 radicals, each of R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 is independently selected from hydrogen, and alkyl, carboxyalkyl and alkoxy radicals containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, provided that if R.sub.3 denotes hydrogen, at least one of the radicals R.sub.1 R.sub.2, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 is not hydrogen, in an amount of at least about 0.05% by weight based on the total weight of the composition.

Abstract: N-carbamoyl derivatives of (5,4b)-isothiazolo pyridine-3-one have the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents hydrogen, linear or branched alkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl having 3-6 carbon atoms or ##STR2## wherein n is 0 or 1, x is 1, 2 or 3, R.sub.2 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl having 1-3 carbon atoms and R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl having 1-3 carbon atoms, nitro, trifluoromethyl or halogen. These derivatives are useful in the treatment of acne.

Abstract: An oxidation-stable composition is useful for the treatment of diseases of the skin and nails, which comprises a solution of dispersion of anthralin in an aromatic ester of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R represents H, OH, CH.sub.3, or OCH.sub.3,n is 1 or 2;R.sub.1 represents a linear or branched alkyl radical having 1 to 18 carbon atoms; a cycloalkyl radical having 4 to 6 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted by an alkyl radical having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; an arylalkyl or arylalkenyl radical in which the alkyl or alkenyl radical has 1 to 3 carbon atoms; or a phenyl radical optionally substituted by an alkyl radical having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or by an alkoxy radical having 1 or 2 carbon atoms;X represents the divalent radical --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --, or --CH.dbd.C--; and t is 0 or 1.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition for the treatment of the oily appearance of hair and skin so as to reduce or eliminate said oily appearance comprises in a suitable cosmetic vehicle at least one compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is either ##STR2## wherein r' and r" can be hydrogen, 2-hydroxy ethyl, 2-hydroxy propyl or 2,3-dihydroxy propyl, R.sub.2 is ##STR3## wherein R.sub.4 is ##STR4## wherein R.sub.5 is --OH, --OCH.sub.3, --OC.sub.4 H.sub.9 or --OCH.sub.2 COOH and R.sub.3 is hydrogen or methyl, or R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 together form ##STR5## wherein m is 3-5 and n is 2-5.

Abstract: Anhydrous composition, stable to oxidation, of anthralin or a derivative thereof.This composition contains anthralin or a derivative thereof in a carrier composed of (i) at least one fatty acid alkyl ester, the fatty acid having 12 to 18 carbon atoms and the alkyl radical having 2 or 3 carbon atoms, and (ii) at least one thickener taken from the group made up of silicas having particle sizes less than 30 m.mu. and polyethylene powders having densities between 0.9 and 0.96 (g/cm.sup.3).This composition is used in the treatment of skin diseases, particularly psoriasis.

Abstract: A cosmetic makeup composition contains in an appropriate cosmetically acceptable vehicle or carrier a colored pigment resulting from the salification reaction of a polymer having salified primary or secondary amine functions or quaternized tertiary amine functions and an acid dye, in free acid form or as a salt thereof, the acid dye being fixed on said polymer in an amount of at least 10 weight percent of the stoichiometric quantity.The compositions include lip rouges, cheek rouges, foundation creams and nail enamels.

Abstract: Copper lanolate, a novel product, can be produced by initially preparing an isotropic solution of a sodium or potassium salt of lanolic acid and thereafter precipitating copper lanolate therefrom by the addition thereto of a solution of a copper salt. The resulting copper lanolate is employed in anti-acne compositions for topical application to the skin.

Abstract: A substituted derivative of thiamorpholinone, for use in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical field, has the formula ##STR1## wherein n is 0 or 1; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each independently represent hydrogen or lower alkyl and R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, mono or polyhydroxyalkyl containing 2-16 carbon atoms, carbamylalkyl, carboxyalkyl or alkoxycarbonylalkyl. When R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, R.sub.4 represents --CO.sub.2 R.sub.5 wherein R.sub.5 is alkyl having 3-18 carbon atoms, optionally interrupted by one or more heteroatoms, or mono or polyhydroxyalkyl having 2-18 carbon atoms. When R.sub.3 represents mono or polyhydroxyalkyl, carbamylalkyl, carboxyalkyl or alkoxycarbonylalkyl, R.sub.4 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl.
