Abstract: Organic amine-organic acid addition salts are employed in compositions for topical application to a human being having a scalp or skin characterized by an excessive secretion of sebum to improve the condition of the scalp or skin by reducing said excessive secretion.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula: ##STR1## WHEREIN R is alkyl, alkenyl, alkylaryl or alkylpolyoxyalkylene, n is 1 - 20, one of A or B is hydrogen and the other is --CH.sub.2 Z where Z is (R'S-) or ##STR2## and where R' is alkyl or mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl. The compounds are obtained from compounds where --CH.sub.2 Z is replaced by chloromethyl or bromomethyl by reaction with mercaptan and, if necessary, oxidation of the sulfur. The compounds are useful in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and cleansing compositions.

Abstract: A process for producing indamine by condensing 2,6-diamino pyridine on a paraphenylene diamine or a benzoquinone diimine or a paranitroso N,N-dialkyl aniline. The resulting indamine can be incorporated into a dye composition for keratinic fibers, especially human hair.

Abstract: An anti-solar polymer has in the macromolecular chain thereof at least one unit of the formula ##EQU1## wherein F is a residue derived from an aromatic compound imparting to the polymer the ability to absorb wave lengths of light in the range of about 280-315 millimicrons. The polymer is employed in a cosmetic composition.

Abstract: Cationic graft and cross-linked copolymers are provided which have excellent properties for use in cosmetic compositions, in particular wavesetting lotions. These copolymers are derived by copolymerizing:A. at least one cosmetic monomer;B. dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate;C. polyethylene glycol; andD. poly unsaturated polyunsaturated cross-linking agent.

Abstract: A process for nonpermanently dyeing human hair comprises applying to the hair a dye composition prepared immediately before application of the same to the hair, the composition comprising an aqueous solution of a solid anhydrous dye selected from the group consisting of indamine, indoaniline and indophenol hair dyes, present in the composition in amounts of 0.0005-2 percent by weight thereof.

Abstract: Dispensing cap for pressurized containers comprises a wall adapted to snap onto the top of the container, a movable member defining a duct adapted to seat on the outlet tube of the container valve and through which its contents may be ejected, and a separable actuating member which projects through the wall to actuate the movable member.

Abstract: A hair coloring and hair-setting lotion composition comprises in combination an aqueous solution of a lower alkanol, a cosmetic film-forming resin, a direct dye, a solar filter and a reducing agent selected from the group consisting of butyl hydroxy anisole, dodecyl gallate, propyl gallate and octyl gallate. The reducing agent is generally present in amounts of about 0.02 - 2% by weight of the composition.

Abstract: Compositions for dyeing human hair contain in an aqueous or hydroalcoholic solution an azo derivative of pyridine N-oxide as a hair dye present in amounts of 0.001 - 1 weight percent of said composition which has a pH ranging from 3 - 9.5.

Abstract: A fatty composition for use in producing cosmetic compositions comprising a mixture of at least one cosmetic fatty body and at least one non-toxic copolymer of the formula: ##EQU1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a saturated hydrocarbon chain, linear or branched, having from 1-19 carbon atoms;R.sub.2 represents a member selected from the group consisting ofA. ##EQU2## wherein R.sub.4 has the same meaning as R.sub.1 but is different from R.sub.1 in the same copolymer,B. --CH.sub.2 --R.sub.5, wherein R.sub.5 represents a saturated hydrocarbon chain, linear or branched, having from 5-25 carbon atoms,C. --O--R.sub.6, wherein R.sub.6 is a saturated hydrocarbon chain having from 2 to 18 carbon atoms, andD. ##EQU3## wherein R.sub.7 is a saturated hydrocarbon chain, linear or branched, having from 1-19 carbon atoms, andR.sub.3 represents hydrogen when R.sub.2 represents (a), (b), or (c) or R.sub.3 represents methyl when R.sub.2 represents (d).

Abstract: Copolymers formed from an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride and an unsaturated monomer having a lipophile chain having a molecular weight of 4,000-100,000 are usefully employed to produce a water-in-oil emulsion which can be incorporated into cosmetic compositions.

Abstract: Copolymers having tertiary amine groups and composed of 16 - 43% methyl methacrylate, 25 - 54% dimethylamino ethyl methacrylate and 12 - 52% octadecyl methacrylate are particularly useful as hair treating resins with conventional carriers and additives. The copolymers can be crosslinked by up to 0.15 by an unsaturated agent to produce preferred copolymers used in wavesetting lotions in amounts of 1 - 3%. Such copolymers can also be partially or wholly quaternized by a quaternizing agent. Those copolymers not crosslinked are particularly useful as hair lacquers, especially in aerosol sprays in amounts of 1 - 4%. The molecular weight for the subject copolymers average 10,000 - 1,500,000 and copolymerization can be effected in a solvent with a catalyst wherein the reaction mixture is heated for about 6 to 24 hours at about 80.degree.C. When applied to the hair, the amount of lotion or lacquer used can be 10 - 100 cc. and the treated hair is rolled.
