Abstract: Resilient elastomeric mounts and in particular, natural rubber engine mounts, which maintain good mechanical and dynamic properties at temperatures in excess of 250° F., are provided. The natural rubber engine mounts of the present invention are thus ideal for use in underhood applications which require durability at high temperatures, i.e. from about 250° F. to about 280° F. The mounts generally comprise rubber produced by an efficient vulcanization (EV) system, which employs a curing system having a sulfur accelerator and sulfur donor. In a preferred composition, the accelerator is a sulfonamide and thiazole present at a level of about 1.2 phr to about 1.8 phr, and the sulfur donor is tetramethyl thuiram disulfide present at a level of about 0.1 phr to about 0.4 phr.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing an oral formulation containing acid-sensitive drugs, including at least the following step: spreading a solution or a suspension containing at least stabilizers, solvents and acid-sensitive drugs or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts onto a core made from one or more excipients, and then drying the core to make an active ingredient layer over the core. Also disclosed is the oral formulation made by this method.
Abstract: An HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) control and method for interpreting a broad range of input voltages generates a series of voltage pulses whose quantity increases with the amplitude of the input voltages. Upon counting the pulses or accumulating them across a capacitor, the control applies an algorithm to determine whether an input voltage should be interpreted as a logic-1 or a logic-0. The control can accept AC input voltages having nominal amplitudes of either 110 or 220-volts. In some embodiments, software-based hysteresis helps filter out electrical noise and distinguish input signals that are marginally between a logic-1 and a logic-0.

Abstract: A refrigeration unit having a compressor that includes a cast member, a cavity formed in the cast member, and an oil filter element dividing the cavity into an inlet cavity and an outlet cavity. An inlet port for directing the unfiltered oil into the inlet cavity and an outlet port for directing filtered oil out of the outlet cavity are also included. The filter element is secured in the cavity between an integral plate on one end and ears on the opposite end. A seal between the cast member and the removable cover is included. Also included is another seal positioned between the inlet and outlet cavities. The filter element may be cylindrical. At least one isolation valve that prevents or allows flow into and out of the filter cavity may be included. The inlet port may be formed in the cast member and the outlet port may be formed in the removable cover, or vice versa. At least one lubrication point and an oil conduit communicating between the lubrication port and the outlet port are included.
Abstract: Oil return from the evaporator to the compressor of refrigeration chiller is accomplished by routing the suction piping that communicates between the chiller's evaporator and compressor to a location physically below the lubricant-rich pool at the bottom of the evaporator shell and by connecting the lubricant-rich pool to the compressor suction piping at a location where the suction piping is disposed physically below the pool.
Abstract: A laminate of an elastomeric substrate and a high density polyethylene having certain properties is disclosed. The preferred high density polyethylene has a density of from 0.940 to 1.000 g/cm3, a melt index of less than 10 grams per 10 minutes under conditions of 190° C. and 2.160 kg load and 298.2 kPa, and a melt index of greater than 5 grams per 10 minutes under conditions of 190° C. and 21.6 kg load and 2,982.2 kPa pressure. The laminate is particularly well suited for use in automotive seals.

Abstract: Electrochemical processes using solid gas-impervious membranes are disclosed for gas cleanup by (A) providing an electrochemical cell comprising first and second zones separated by a solid gas-impervious membrane comprising a mixed metal oxide material of a perovskite structure having electron conductivity and oxygen ion conductivity, (B) passing a gas containing N2O, NO, NO2, SO2, SO3, or a mixture thereof, in contact with the membrane in the first zone, and (C) passing a gas capable of reacting with oxygen in contact with the membrane in the second zone. More particularly, the mixed metal oxide material of a perovskite structure comprises a combination of elements selected from the group consisting of lanthanides, alkaline earth metals, Y, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Zr, and Nb, oxides thereof, and mixtures of these metals and metal oxides. Advantageously a catalyst is present in the first zone.

Abstract: A position detector for sensing the position of a movable member which moves along an axis relative to a stationary member. A nonrepeating N bit chain code embodied in a scale on the movable member runs along the axis. A detector fixed to the stationary member is positioned to sense a portion of the chain code. The detector has K elements (K>>N) generating a plurality of signals. A controller determines the position of the movable member relative to the stationary member as a function of the signals.

Abstract: The method of the present invention comprises feeding crude acetonitrile containing acrylonitrile as an impurity and water into the upper portion of a distillation column, distilling the crude acetonitrile in the presence of the water for a time sufficient to allow substantially all of the acrylonitrile impurity to be vaporized in the presence of the water, removing substantially all of the acrylonitrile in an overhead stream exiting from the distillation column and recovering the crude acetonitrile substantially free of acrylonitrile impurity from the lower portion of the distillation column. In particular, the method can be utilized to produce HPLC grade acetonitrile (UV cutoff <190).

Abstract: A single multipurpose tuck label/form is provided and is imprinted with only a single pass of a printer. The multipurpose tuck label/form includes a label ply and a liner ply, both having respective first and second sides. The first side of the liner ply contacts the second side of the label ply and includes a release coating thereon. Through a unique placement of the release coating on the liner ply and pattern-coated adhesive on the label ply, the tuck label/form can be imprinted in a single pass through a computer-driven printer and may be used without the need for any die cuts to be made on the liner ply.
