Abstract: A reusable surgical drape having a fenestration to be positioned at the surgical site and a trough for collecting liquids which flow from the surgical site. The trough comprises a substantially rectangular panel of liquid repellant fabric having rounded corners and having an opening formed therein corresponding to the drape fenestration. The trough-forming panel is sewn to the drape about the peripheries of their corresponding opening and fenestration. In one embodiment all four sides of the trough-forming panel are folded inwardly toward the fenestration to form liquid receiving and retaining trough segments about the drape fenestration. At each of the corners, where adjacent trough segments meet, the outer peripheral edge of the trough-forming panel is gathered, resulting in a continuous rectangular trough about the fenestration, having substantially rectilinear side segments and rounded corner segments free of seams, stitches, folds or multiple layers.
Abstract: A railroad car truck includes a pair of side frames and a bolster which is supported by springs on the side frame. There are diagonal cross braces attached to the side frames with each cross brace being attached to one side frame on one side of the bolster and being attached to the other side frame on the opposite side of the bolster. There are mounting brackets fixed to the side frame and there is an end block attached with elastomeric mounting elements to each mounting bracket. The end blocks mount the cross braces. Each end block has a profile such as not to materially interfere with the scan area of a hot box detector mounted adjacent one of the railroad track rails.
Abstract: A business form such as a label, tag or the like is provided in which a thermally imagable substrate has on selected portions of its surface a plurality of different colored areas. At least one of the colored areas is obscured by thermally imaging the substrate in a selected area so as to provide color coded information. The colored areas may be preprinted as half-tone screened areas on the substrate in a number of different patterns and arrangements. The form may be printed with both color coded information and variable information in a single printing pass.

Abstract: A high side co-rotational scroll compressor has lubricant sumps in both the discharge and suction pressure portions of its hermetic shell as well as a pressure biasing arrangement by which the scroll members are urged together in operation to minimize internal leakage. Lubrication of the bearing in which the driven scroll member rotates as well as to the bearing in which the idler scroll member rotates, both of which are located in the suction pressure portion of the shell, is provided for. Additionally, embodiments are taught by which the interface between the tips of the wraps of each scroll member and the end plate of the opposing scroll member are lubricated and by which the seal in the axial pressure biasing arrangement is lubricated and/or shielded from debris having the potential to damage it.

Abstract: A mailer assembly which can be supplied to a user in intermediate form and which, when assembled and sealed, has an enhanced ability to shield confidential information from unauthorized view is provided. The mailer assembly may also include an integral return envelope and also may be designed so that variable information can be printed on the sheets making up the mailer prior to assembly using nonimpact printers such as laser printers which use heat and pressure to fuse toner to paper. The mailer assembly includes first and second sheets in superimposed relation, with each of the first and second sheets having a pair of marginal side edges and a pair of end edges. The mailer further includes removable marginal side and end strips for opening the mailer. The first and second sheets are secured together parallel to their respective marginal side and end edges to form a subassembly.

Abstract: A passage choke in particular for the outlet of a plumbing fixture which is installed between the end (9) of the outlet (5) and an aerator (6) or a flow controller, which is provided with a through-flow opening (8) which advantageously has to enlarge it a knockout (12).
Abstract: A process for the substantial or complete elimination of ammonium sulfate generated during the production of acrylonitrile by the direct ammoxidation of propylene/propane, ammonia and an oxygen containing gas (e.g. air) over a fluid bed catalyst wherein the improvement comprises introducing methanol into said reactor in the upper portion of the reactor at a location where the methanol reacts with at least a portion if not substantially all of the excess ammonia without affecting the acrylonitrile yield. Preferably, methanol is introduced into the reactor at below its coking temperature. In particular, when an oxygen lean fluid bed catalyst is utilized, an additional oxygen containing gas is introduced into the reaction at a distance between about 8 to 14 inches from the methanol feed location.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for molding composite automotive trim members having a layer of a first material and a backing member made of a second thermoplastic material. The first material is introduced to the mold in the form of an elastic sheet having a show surface. This sheet is placed in the mold and the second thermoplastic material is subsequently injected into the mold cavity. This causes the second thermoplastic material to bond to one side of the sheet and forces the show surface on the opposite side of the sheet into abutting engagement with the mold surface, thereby creating the trim member. The second thermoplastic material forms a backing member that provides structural support for the sheet. The sheet forms an outer layer for the trim member. Note that the show surface on the sheet remains intact during and after injection and therefore provides a show surface for the trim member.

Abstract: Protective apparatus in a scroll compressor, in the form of a valve assembly, is operative to prevent compressor damage from reverse direction rotation of the scroll compression mechanism or the development of abnormally high discharge gas temperatures. The valve assembly is disposed in a passage communicating between the suction and discharge pressure portions of the compressor shell and houses a discharge temperature sensor immediately adjacent the location from which discharge gas issues from the compression mechanism. The location of the sensor and its exposure to discharge gas permits the timely sensing of abnormally high discharge temperatures and the shutdown of the compressor upon their occurrence.
Abstract: A test device for calibrating an optical surface inspection system, such as a pellicle or reticle inspection system, comprising a substrate having raised diffractors with at least one beam-diffracting geometric feature aligned to diffract light directed from an angle of incidence of less than 30.degree. . The beam-diffracting geometric feature is preferably a vertex aligned generally perpendicular to the surface of the substrate. A detection beam which impinges the vertex is diffracted, with diffracted beams being collected by a collector. The raised diffractor thereby simulates a foreign particle on a substrate, allowing calibration of the system. The apparent size of the diffractor and therefore the simulated particle can be varied by varying the vertices or the height of the raised diffractor. If a substrate is to have more than one diffractor, the diffractor should be spaced apart by a distance greater than the diameter of the detection beam.

Abstract: A clip member for securement of a trim member to a slot in the sheet of a vehicle. The clip member includes a base portion which includes a dovetail for attachment of the base portion to a trim member. The clip also includes a shaft portion which has an axis and is connected to the base member. The shaft member is adapted for allowing resilient rotational deflection about the axis of the shaft. A locking protrusion extends from the shaft portion and includes a locking shelf for engaging the sheet portion of the vehicle. The locking protrusion also includes a ramp portion which is operable for deflecting in response to engaging the slot and rotating the locking protrusion about the axis of the shaft during insertion of the protrusion into the slot.

Abstract: A method of utilizing an economizer to reduce the energy usage of a mechanical refrigeration system. The method comprises the steps of: economizing if both cooling demand and the prerequisites to economize are present; measuring economizer capacity; determining if the measured economizer capacity is sufficient to meet the needs of a zone being conditioned; continuing to economize as long as there is both a cooling demand and the prerequisites to economize; and initiating the use of the mechanical cooling system only if the economizer capacity has been determined to be insufficient to meet the needs of the zone being conditioned.
Abstract: A VSLI transceiver chip incorporating an improved analog PLL circuit for recovering a digital clock signal from a digital data signal having pulse widths which may vary during each data cycle. The analog PLL clock recovery circuit comprises a phase detector, a gain control circuit, a variable current charge pump, a loop filter and a variable frequency oscillator. The phase detection means for detecting, during each data cycle, the phase error between the digital data signal and recovered digital clock signal, and produces first end second digital control pulse signals in response to the detection of the phase error. The gain control means produces third and fourth digital control pulse signals during each data cycle.
