  • Patent number: 11046247
Abstract: A system and method for determining a probability that a driver will detect a hazard while driving. An eye tracker tracks the driver's forward and non-forward glance durations. A probability calculator categorizes the glance durations into an observation type and selects a transition matrix specific to that observation type. The probability calculator groups the glance durations and observation type into a tuple and calculates a probability that the driver will detect a hazard in the current time segment based on the tuple, the previous time segment's detection state, and the transition matrix. Based on whether the determined probability is above or below a threshold, the current time segment detection state is stored in memory as a detect state (driver is likely to detect a hazard) or a non-detect state (driver is not likely to detect a hazard). The driver is alerted if determined to be in a non-detect state.

  • Patent number: 11045456
Abstract: The present invention features, inter alia, pharmaceutical compositions and their use in the preparation of a medicament (e.g., a medicament for inflammation, such as an inflammatory lung disease) or in a therapeutic regimen. The compositions can include at least two active agents: a first agent that inhibits PDE4 (e.g., roflumilast) and a second active agent that inhibits the expression or activity of one or more PDE4B variants (e.g., PDE4B2). The compositions and methods will attenuate an unwanted up-regulation of a PDE4B (e.g., PDE4B2) and may thereby improve treatment with the first agent (e.g., roflumilast). For example, the second agent may improve the efficacy of the first agent, decrease the effective dose of the first agent, ameliorate the tolerance to the first agent that would otherwise develop (e.g., in patients with COPD exacerbation), reduce unwanted side effects caused by the first agent, or otherwise improve treatment regimes including a PDE4 inhibitor.

  • Patent number: 11043297
Abstract: A device to detect an object in a medical image is described. An image analysis application, executed by the device, receives the medical image as an input. The medical image is next partitioned to sub-regions. Parts of the object are detected in a selection of the sub-regions using a deep-learning neural network (DNN) model. Bounding boxes for the selection are also determined. The bounding boxes are evaluated based on a confidence score detected as above a threshold level. The confidence score designates the parts as contained within the selection. Next, a region of interest (ROI) is determined as a group including the selection. Similar orientations associated with the bounding boxes are comparable to similar orientations of a positive training model of the DNN model. Furthermore, the selection is designated as the ROI within the medical image. The medical image is provided with the ROI to a user.

  • Patent number: 11043025
Abstract: Systems and methods for collaborative illumination estimation for mobile mixed-reality devices are provided. Embodiments described herein compose an illumination estimate using video data capturing an environment which includes a reflective object, such as a light probe. Radiance samples are computed from light reflections from the reflective object, which are then interpolated to compose a realistic estimation of physical lighting of the environment. Robust illumination estimation is provided in a computationally efficient manner, supplying real-time updates to facilitate integration with augmented reality (AR) systems and other image processing applications. The computational efficiency of this approach allows for implementation in lower-resource environments, such as mobile devices. In some examples, multiple devices can collaborate to capture the environment from different viewpoints and enhance realism and fidelity in their illumination estimates.
